By the way, I come here to get away frompolitics and the real world, so please if you could, take the president and snowflake comments elsewhere. I'm sure there are other message boards that would love that, but this is the last place I think any of us want that kind of crap.

I prefer the term "delicate flower". At least then there's some color.

Here's a thought.

Maybe they're spoonfeeding it to us because so many complained last year about not being able to find the storyline after the opener?

It's time to decide. Do you want it spoon fed to you or do you want to work to understand the show? You can't have it both ways people.

Seriously??? That's what you're going to go with.

Okay. Look. Last year, there was a legitimate storyline. It was not some artsy fartsy abstract show. It had a story that the audience needed to follow along to in order to understand the show. You have to be clear and literal in that type of show. Staging is of the utmost importance.

In this show, however, the theme is much more abstract. As a result, I would argue that the elements in the show itself should be just as abstract.

This is really simple.

Is it really that simple? I thought it was supposed to be abstract. Man,  I'm missing the whole point here. Guess I now hate the show like everyone else. Rats...

Funnily enough the same poster was getting on my case about being political because I made fun of a glorified journalist-turned "politician" (generous to call him that).

So you're condoning the "name calling"? That's mighty of ya.

In all seriousness, stop with the name calling and putting the soloist down. Or at least say some constructive criticism instead of the blunt "you suck" mentality that the majority seems to be putting out.

I for one think she is very talented, being a singer myself and minoring in music performance vocal. Is she pitch? Yes. Nobody has perfect pitch without autotune (and if they added that in y'all would complain about that). Has she ever performed in a stadium venue be it NFL or high school? Probably not unless it was the national anthem which she probably performed inside the press box of her high school stadium. She's working just as hard as the instrumental musicians and guard,  if not harder simply to overcome her short comings. The season just started people. Give her a chance.

Criticism is one thing, but it can be done respectfully without lobbing insults. Name calling degrades the entire conversation and makes the person doing look like and absolutely moron.

And as the father of an autistic son that has been the subject of name calling and bullying I do not condone it, regardless of the name. As mentioned earlier, there is absolutely ZERO justification of it, regardless of the intent or purpose.

I'm not sure if you are asking my opinion or not...First off...I have not said one word against this female singer...not one at all...people are free to chose how they wish to express their opinion...good or bad...whether hate speech or not...there should be no abridge against the freedom of speech IMO...Second...it is well known that I do not like singing in drum corps...but that is what it is and I have to deal with that change whether I personally like it or not...Third...it appears to me that the biggest criticism from the numerous posts I've read over the internet (not just DCP) is the fact that she is "the show" and Crown brass serves as a backup band...change that dynamic and I think much of the criticism MAY go away...you are a bit confused in terms of calling this criticism bullying IMO...but you are entitled to your opinion about it as well...

Don't be obtuse, I was talking about the fact that the distinction between when literal vs abstract is needed is very simple.

In all actuality,  my original post was meant as more of a sarcastic joke than an actual thought. Hense the lol emoticon. Lol.
