OldStyleCorps Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 (edited) Are the DCA Championships in Rochester again next year? Or, is it up for bids again? I know, Rochester, Love's it's DCA Championships. So now it may be time for all of you who think it should move to: " Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is. " So if you want it moved. Let's see those Bids come rolling in! I know, I would like to see it moved around a bit. BUT, I also have, No Problem going back to Rochester. (A place that really seems to WANT to keep it, and also Works hard to Keep it!) Edited August 18, 2008 by OldStyleCorps Quote
JoeDz Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Chicago........... in fairness to all DCA corps....every five years. East coast (Baltimore?) also more inclusive to DCA south on one of the other four years....... NY/NJ/PA the other three........not feasible to go further west at this time. Quote
faramirtook Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Chicago wouldn't be so horrible of a ride for us Caballeros... We'd just have to leave Thursday night as opposed to early Friday morning to make it there. Rochester is already a good 6 hours for us! Quote
pvt_cairns Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Yeah I'm in favor of Chicago or the surrounding area, Logistics would be a nightmare as far as just moving from place to place. But if there is a city set up for it outside the East coast it's definatly Chicago. It's not a huge burden for the East coast corps, and it spares everyone else at least a few hours on the trip. Mistress Kelli Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I never thought I'd say this... I'd rather go back to Scranton. Quote
CorpsBuff Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I wouldn't mind a return to J Birney Crum, or maybe even Franklin Field in Philadelphia (yes it's still there). I would also like to see it further west. I really don't like how finals are essentially a home show for 2 of the drum corps that compete in DCA, don't really think that's fair but again that's just my opinion. Quote
Top Cat Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Would love to see DCA in the Midwest. However, I just do not see the Northeast corps willing to expend the $$$$ OR time to travel that far. Sure it's more than OK for the Minn Brass, SF Renegades, Corpsvets, Kilts, etc. etc. to do so EVERY year, but "us do that????". Much less the Alumini corps, what would the DCA Championships be without paying tribute to our collective history. Now IF the east coasters want to really support the DCA movement, how about 1 or 2 of them each year making a trip to the Midwest for a weekend set of shows with the DCA Central corps and/or to the DCA south shows to support their regions. Now THAT would be the most practical way to help the DCA movement. Comments?? Quote

DCA at Soldier Field? That would be a well attended contest I think. Quote
