ouooga Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I was reading on a forum (not DCP) that the brass caption head at Crown made an announcement that any members of the Troopers will be cut automatically, because he wants them to return to Troop and see Troop return to finals. Not really looking for anyone to confirm this one, but I'm pretty interested in what people's thoughts on this are, and if anyone else is doing anything like this. Quote

Never heard of anything like that. I can see a couple of sides to it... 1) A sincere attempt to get Troop back in...something ALL drum corpsfans would love to see 2) On the other hand, if you get cut from Crown for this reason, are you really gonna put out your best effort at Troop? There may be a specific reason for LEAVING Wyoming. Much as I'd love to see them back in finals, I'd rather they do it with people who want to march the Troop, not because they were forced to go there. Quote
MGCtimp Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 They would probably just go to another corps besides crown. Quote
SopranoSesto Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I think this might just be a rumor (we havent even had our first camp yet) Everyone at Crown would love to see the Troopers back in finals......we share some staff and some Crown age-outs are on staff at the Troop......With that being said I highly doubt that consideration for membership in the corps (crown) would depend on something like this.....We all wish the troop well......and last year (2008) we had a girl that marched Troopers 2007. boxingfred Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I think you missed the fine print. ANY COLOR GUARD member from the Troopers! See Troopers only about 16 guard members last year. Quote

Harmonious Cacophony Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 This sounds like a joke to me (a funny joke). Everyone loves the Troop. Quote

drumelloboe Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I know of at least 2 2007 Troopers members that were with Crown this past season- one in the hornline, one in the guard. Semifinals night in 2007, Kevin Smith saw me and two of my friends in our corps jackets, and said something really cool along the lines of "Thank you for coming back- now don't leave your corps, don't audition for my corps or anyone else's, because they need you to stay and build it up to be great again." I didn't go back, but that's I'm too old So... someone on staff may have said something along those lines, but I doubt it was 100% serious. But I won't argue, Troop could use the guard numbers!!! tickbox Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I interpret it as: We aren't going to take you, if you are auditioning from Troopers because we feel that the most successful way of maintaining the success you are having and will have in the future is to continuously have kids come back. I don't see it as a "WE DON'T WANT YOU" type of comment just more of a helping comment to help maintain the current success and future success of the Troopers. Quote
