chaos001 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 (edited) Phantom Regiment 2009 The Red Violin The 2009 production of The Red Violin continues Phantom Regiment's tradition of combining artistry, passion, and power with good old-fashioned drum corps and entertainment. From the color guard's technical prowess and dramatic flair, to the artistry and precision of the percussion, to the emotion and power of the Regiment hornline a new story emerges that will once again set the standard for outdoor theater. Music from the show is mainly focused around the different variations on the Paganini theme. The music pieces include: The Red Violin from the film The Red Violin, by John Corigliano Fantasy Variations on a Theme by Paganini, by James Barnes Paganini Variations, by Witold Lutoslawski Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, by Sergei Rachmaninoff Caprice XXIV Paganini, by Benny Goodman Paganini Variations, by Philip Wilby The story includes the trials and tribulations of romance and stardom, as we follow a young, poor musician and his new bride struggling to make ends meet. When the musician comes upon a magical red violin, his life is forever changed. We hope you enjoy the journey, as we present The Red Violin. Let the discussion begin!!! shawn craig Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I really want to know what the rep is going to be. That's always more important to me then the title of the shows. Always look forward to Regiments shows. Quote
poprocks Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 They have another camp at the end of the month, so hopefully more things could be announced by then? And I can't wait to see the new uniforms!! I wonder if they already have them... Quote

perc2100 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 First full week of April and we're already starting this type of stuff up?! Wow... OK, I'm curious to see if Phantom will over-think this year and buckle under the pressures of being defending Champion. Quote

corps-mudgeon Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Ever since the show announcement, I've been wondering if PR couldn't afford the other half of the violin... Quote
contrajedi8 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 First full week of April and we're already starting this type of stuff up?!Wow... OK, I'm curious to see if Phantom will over-think this year and buckle under the pressures of being defending Champion. I'm not sure I buy the buckle-under-the-pressure line. I will venture that this may be uncharted waters for Phantom. It's not easy having the target on your back. The design staff has remained relatively in tact and that is key. Design and staff wins championships. My only beef with Phantom is they tend to follow up a great year, with a not so great year. See 2003-2004 or 2006-2007 for proof. IMO. Anyone know the vets/rookies ratio this year? Quote
poprocks Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I know that they had quite a few age-outs last year, but I don't know what that ratio was. I would say it's not too bad though. I'm sure they're coping with it and not letting it make a difference. Quote
