  1. OK, so, despite my better judgement, I followed a couple of links and watched this show from down low and up pretty high. Umm. Wow. This dish of crow needs salt... That's an impressive, impressive show. My initial distaste is lessened, considerably. Once I got past the pedal carts and looked at how they not only blended so well, not to mention the other spectacular parts of the design, it was hard to remember that this is a HS program. It was really that good. A few goofy things like individual mistakes, and I saw a cart run over a kid's ankle, but the carts adding a nice, flowing quality to the visual design that is hard to achieve with just drill design and marching execution. I think I'm a little biased because, as a "camper" (as in a 40ft motorhome), we see those carts rented at KOA and other campgrounds. They're a nuisance, and fun to peddle around in, in campgrounds. Plus, I spent much of the day at the OMEA state finals, where there is no ranking and as a result, IMO, they're not capable of getting the quality of the BA, but that's another thread... (Hey, N.E.Brigand! Fun to see you!...)

  3. Bridgemen did a nice job on the overture to Merrily we Roll Along, but that was before the whole show basis and towards the end for them. It would definitely have potential

  5. Just watched episode 5....very disappointed at this point. In my view, too much time spent on sickness and injury, too much canned sound, too little focus on the BD and Cadets brass and percussion sections in terms of how they develop their performance levels...after all, they are the engines that make the corps run. Too many insipid comments by Hopkins and his CG lady. I think this series could be so much more compelling without diving into the weeds of too much inside stuff. Only 3 episodes left, and a viewer, not into DCI, still would not have a feel for how awesome these groups sound......a real missed opportunity so far, IMHO.

  6. RIP Parker Silva I learned so much about music and about life during the 5 years I marched there. I honestly would not be where I am today if it weren't for being a Freelancer. There aren't enough words to thank Parker, Grace, Don, and the entire Silva family for what the Freelancers gave so many of us.

  7. Heartbroken. Rest in peace Mr Silva. You were a great influence in my life and taught not just me, but many a Freelancer life lessons that I keep with me to this day. It's now time to go be with Grace.

  8. Would be great to see Prairie Sound again. The rumor is that we will be "touring" around Texas in 2017. I hope our paths cross.

  9. Yes, Sound Sport is the best thing going for All Age Corps located too far away from DCA. Prairie Sound Drum & Bugle Corps of Olathe, KS is going the same direction.
