  1. Bridgemen did a nice job on the overture to Merrily we Roll Along, but that was before the whole show basis and towards the end for them. It would definitely have potential
  2. Monday was a wonderful show, and a lot of groups did very well considering the elements. In many ways, the crowd is becoming a microcosm of our entire society, which in my opinion is not moving in a good direction. I was not in Cali for 2007, but I have to interject my dismay at the "Maroon block" at Madison in 2006. Lets face it, the 2006 production was not what a lot of people enjoyed from that corps, but the VILENESS that came from that group of "fans" during the scoring announcements that year, when BLUECOATS passed them up, was nothing I had ever seen or heard in Drum Corps. It created in me a difficulty in ever respecting their "fans" ever again. Fortunately, the kids and corps were more class than the block in the stands, and allow me to still respect the product. I realize this also is way off the topic of this thread, but the discussion really brought up this memory in a very hard way
  3. I believe I have a couple of stills from the show - the Christmas show was interesting with the elves and all. I believe I can put my hands on an audio recording but I know of no video from that show. It was a rough year for the guys in yellow, but because they had made semis the year before had to perform for the fees to try to keep going. Between the huge presents and the construction cones on the field it was fun if not very good.
  4. Something happen so they have to open the roof or move to U of I again - I HATE DOME FINALS.
  5. 1988 and 1989 were both very strong top 5s 1988 just because the winner was such a surprise the way that semis and finals were done with not revealing the top 5 scores from prelims 1989 is still hard to believe that Bergen's Les Mis was a 5th place show. (and Star was no slouch that year either)
  6. as far as national shows one of the lower scores ever achieved was Silver Spectrum in the 1979 DCI Prelims they also hold the distinction of being the only corps to compete twice in the same years' prelims, so they ended up performing for the crowd more than the 18-25 place corps that year, yet placed last at prelims (both times they performed) (They were also known as the "Eye Openers")
  7. Does anyone know how FN is handling the dual regionals Saturday - is it possible to stream both Lacrosse and Denver on two different devices?
  8. It is part of the Mid America Competing Band Directors Association - in the mid to late 70s early 80s a very strong influence in that area of the country with High school Bands - what is now Bands of Amerca Grand Nationals started as Marching Bands of America and was held every summer in the 70s and early 80s. In 1979 there were 47 bands vying for the final 12 in Whitewater for MBA finals - what is left of the circuit is about 6-8 summer competitive bands from as put Southern Wisco, northern ILl and Canada - www.macbda.org
  9. Different venue this year from the past few years, and a much smaller slate - crowd will enjoy the drum line battle though. First night out for Jersey Surf!
  10. Sunday, July 18, 1971 (Combine year) McHenry, IL - they had one every year - this was first one I watched. 1 Nisei Ambassadors (73.6) 2 Imperials of St Patricks (70.8) 3 Skokie Imperials (64.45) 4 PHANTOM REGIMENT (63.05) 5 Chevaliers (56.8) 6 Southern Rebels (51.6)
  11. Sorry to hear about the show there but your last comment made me chuckle when I considered that no they might call the Meadowlands show DCI North Allentown if they could.
  12. Since the athletic stadium stands where a cornfield was not too many years ago - it should be the place for a Colts' show this year - Weather looks nice and a nice group of corps should give us an enjoyable entertaining night in Olathe this evening. Listed in reverse order of performance.Colts - Dubuque, IABoston Crusaders - Boston, MAMadison Scouts - Madison, WIBlue Knights - Denver, COCrossmen - San Antonio, TXCascades - Seattle, WAColt Cadets - Dubuque, IA Virtual Cook truck shows Colt Cadets at 7:40 and Colts at 9:42
  13. you will probably not have too many issues early in the program today - when the bandwidth tightens as more people are on the live stream you may have issues -
  14. sat across from one of the singers' proud parents at Warrensburg it is definitely live. Cant say I love the narration, but it didn't detract like other narrations have. as far as loudness of amplification the only one that was overtly over loud and made their show less desirable at the warrensburg event were the bluecoats in my opinion. It will be interesting to see how BLOO, Cavies and scouts jockey around in the next week (you can throw boston in there too)
  15. Yes, but the DCI website for the Fan network is listing the schedule like this: This event's lineup includes: 7:40 p.m. Bluecoats 7:57 p.m. Blue Devils 8:14 p.m. The Cavaliers 4:16 p.m. – Intermission 9:01 p.m. Phantom Regiment 9:18 p.m. Carolina Crown 9:35 p.m. The Cadets 9:52 p.m. Santa Clara Vanguard Times approximate and subject to change Read more: http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=471c14e6-49b0-4785-a523-8dd10f810406#ixzz2Yl8RwqO1
  16. DATR had to move to Boulder (with no lights) during one of the Mile HIgh Constructions - was an interesting AFTERNOON show.
  17. St Croix Rivermen original incarnation of the Florida Vanguard If either of these could have kept staffs/members they had everything to move up the ladder
  18. AS far out to the right as they were, most people didn't realize what had happened until this kind of buzz went through the crowd it was pretty unbelievable and just glad there were no bad injuries at that one - we have had a lot of injuries over the years and some not even due to collisions. Sorry - was not aware that there was an injury to one of the players on the z pull since they all got up, sorry to hear he missed the rest of the season.
  19. first year in a long time ill be missing this show - hope for no tornadoes!!
  20. Cumulative Scoring NEW FOR 2013: While each Tour of Champions event will be based on the DCI judging system, a sequential scoring system will be used across all seven shows similar to those used in NASCAR and other sporting events. The cumulative scoring will result in a season-long champion named at the final Tour of Champions event in Buffalo.
  21. guessing that they wanted the general area - not too bad a drive to Minneapolis CMU has a very high box even though not as many seats des moines and Omaha do not have as high a box at a football stadium Faurot (univ of Missouri) is under construction arrowhead and cornhusker stadiums would have been too large. (again this is pure speculation)
  22. Don't forget the others vying for top 25 - Squires Rochester Cadets Avant Garde Florida Wave Valley Fever
  23. Warrensburg - (first g7) or whatever they want to call it Olathe - good group of non G7 Bentonville Mich City (hope) Indy others on FN
