  1. Phantom did drop a couple points when they came back east though. Also, they were either scoring higher than, or within a point of cavies, but ended up getting 3 pointed by them in their first head to head. But yeah, there are probably 101 reasons why this happened. (different shows/w.e)
  2. i think Madison might be staying in the same uni as last year. but yeah, everyone else has either made some sort of alteration or has new unis all together.
  3. not completely true. corps have had flugelhorn, marching french horn, marching trombone, and other unorthodox sections/groups of players in the past. same goes for the battery. Did the cadets win the Sanford in 2003 because the finals percussion judge likes the sound of cowbells, or was it because they played the instruments they were given at a very high level? Obviously I still get what you're saying, but I hope for the sake of the activity the judges are less bias than that.
  4. These are the sharpest uniforms I've seen since Bluecoats most recent uni change. Really wish the rest of the corps were in these.
  5. Now, if only they posted more vids of the hornline..
  6. Protest was 13' and the gypsy show was 14'
  7. they didn't get this most current uniform until 2014.
  8. thinking back, wasn't it 2012 (and maybe other years) where the corps was in black and white and only the DMs had red on their uniform? either way, if it worked back then hopefully it'll work now. though there is way more white on this specific uni. kinda wish they would remove the 3 mirrors and replace them with a sing maltese cross mirror on the chest or sash dangle thingy.
  9. this guy sure digs what they are doing this year.
  10. same, im very interested as to what the back of the uni and the side of the shako looks like. cant really tell from the pic.
  11. i like where they are going with the uni, but i guess i was hoping for at least a slight nod to the past.
  12. uniform unveiling tomorrow (for donors), can't wait!
  13. I'm pretty sure we just saw the same thing. Man.. Those horns sound aggressive and huuge!
  14. I instantly thought of BD when I saw the hint. Idk if that's good or bad, but I am happy they are leaning towards a more abstract and mature show this season.
  15. Here's to hoping they have cross straps! (I know, it's a long shot)
  16. WFTDA is the largest governing body of women's roller derby (way bigger than even its male counterpart). they have a pretty legit gender policy (to me) and it would be nice to see Madison and cavies adopt something similar. That is if they don't inegrate fully soon. That being said I'm sure there have been trans folks that have marched those corps with no problem. https://wftda.com/wftda-gender-statement
  17. When I said "offer up" I didnt mean go looking for drum corps to house, more or less a willingness to work with a corps in need of a site. but yeah, as someone who is currently employed at IU rec sports, I can't dissagree with your comment one bit.
  18. A friend sent me the link to the quoted article below and I figured I'd share it here. http://wishtv.com/2015/12/01/indiana-university-planning-10m-marching-band-building/Assuming this project is approved, once completed I wonder how willing IU would be to offer up this space to drum corps. Sounds like it would be a pretty good prospective finals week housing/rehersal site. Also the potential building location they mentioned would be right next to IU's new Rec Sports Field Complex, where there are 5 turf fields that are only being used for seasonal intramural sports. Either way, it's good to see schools (thinking about) dropping money on marching bands and I hope that this project is approved.
  19. Maybe a little off topic, but I think a corps should do a Maynard show next season. August 2016 will mark ten years since Maynards passing. I could see BD or Crossmen doing this.
