  1. Cheers mate. 92 was my age out year. I for one liked our show that year!
  2. For the sake of consistency, I am closing this. Whether or not YEA said too much in their press release is up to the individual reader to decide. The simple fact is that the offer to Mr Robinson has been recinded and that is that. Closed
  3. When you think of all the miles that DCI corps do over the course of the summer, this makes you say "There but for the Grace of God go I...." My heart goes out to the victims families and prayers go out to all. This is truly tragic.
  4. First and foremost... Lets remember the TOPIC of this thread. It is about the appointment of the new SCV director. It is NOT about George Hopkins or amps. If we cant stay ON TOPIC, I will shut this down. Sorry if that annoys some. After all, it seems that I must be going out of my way to close topics...
  5. Star 91.. Hands down. The crosses at the end were UNreal!!
  6. Garfield Cadets 1986 was pretty darned fast in Rocky Point.
  7. Reopened. Keep it on topic and dont threadjack or it's closed for good.
  8. Shutting this down whilst I clean up all the off topic rubbish!
  9. This sucks... I remember when DCI started "the change" as I like to call it to what it is today. We are talking mid to late eighties. I recall seeing the Troopers in various retreats and thinking; "####, they are freakin hardcore". They always stuck to their principles and ethos, come #### or highwater, winning or losing, they were ALWAYS "The Troopers". I hope with all my heart, they make it back for 07. Until then, I will have the Crossed Sabres as my avatar.
  10. Once again, another thread ruined by people with a chip on their shoulder looking for a fight. Topic closed. <**> <**>
  11. I hope not... I still contend that DCI at the Rose Bowl would be a big mistake. I will however eat my words if proven wrong.
  12. Why not Seattle? Distance? No different than West Coast corps going to Florida, or Boston.
  13. Call me crazy, BUT... I always recall Utah having insane drum corps crowds (yeah I know mostly "bandos" but who is our target market anyways?). Provo is a beautiful place and has an awesome facility! Longshot, but I would dig it! Seattle... If not for the running track, a stadium MADE for DCI Then of course, if we are gonna do SoCal, the only place to have finals would be Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. The Rose Bowl is to big (over 100,000) and too low. Corps would just get lost in there. I can think of no other stadium worse for a drum corps show.
  14. I cant believe that nobody has mentioned (and I swear there is no bias here) 1983 Freelancers. Those guys were AWESOME!! If you havent heard them, go LISTEN!! Others that come to mind 92 Star of Indiana and 87 Santa Clara. Honorable mention to Blue Devils 86.
  15. Topic Title changed. Also I am pinning this. This is a pretty big deal when you think about it. The Troopers are a founding member of DCI and have been a member since it's inception. 33 years and then you're out, for undisclosed reasons, is quite a big deal actually....
  16. You know, this just goes to show how passionate we are about our activity. This event took place 26 YEARS ago, and the emotion of the night still runs raw. Let's just remember to keep it civil though please!
  17. Coldplay- Clocks Kelly Clarkson- Beautiful Disaster (the slow acoustic version) James Blunt- You're Beautiful
  18. I just went in and added Dream for you Sam.... Along with Pacific Crest, Esperanza, Blue Devils B, Vanguard Cadets and Impulse!
  19. You know, it's kinda funny, but I was thinking of them as well. A few others to add to the mix.. 88 Sky Ryders 92 Marauers 90 Dutch Boy 91 Cadets of Bergen County As for 93 Star, I think I was possibly one of the few in the stands who (possibly by accident) completely "got" them. I thought they were totally and completely unreal.
  20. John Zimny wrote our brass book pretty much for the entire existence of the corps
  21. Cheers Shannon! It was a blast to play. I still have teachers and mates saying to me; "Did you HEAR that French Horn lick at the end??!!" Um... We didnt HAVE any French Horns!
