  6. BDB 75.15. Definitely opened up that gap from OC
  7. Yokohama jumped from 8th to 5th of the OC corps.
  8. I went to Riverside, Walnut and was also in Glendale. It is an awkward pause and I've felt all three times "What are they waiting for?" Very weird. You have one hell of a point, Ryan.
  9. From what I've seen and heard, there's not too many kids at Academy with thoughts of moving on to other corps. In fact, I believe Academy has at least one member who marched an upper corps and CAME BACk to Arizona the next year. The group is extremely well run, and the kids are happy. Everyone is in it for the long haul, far as I can tell.
  10. I don't think that's what the OP or jake_the_hydra were talking about...
  11. we had some fun ones. get the whole corps in a block, starting running down the streets (we were at a military base), pick up the pace, a lot, keep running, find some hills, run up those, wave the the marines as we pass them by, keep running, watch as people start to fall out, keep running, stop. do some sit ups and pushups, run back. wave to all the people from the corps who have fallen out of the block. run faster. get back to the field with half the battery, a handful of horns, two guard, and one girl left. five and a half mile full corps sprints are fun.
  12. i was a bit disappointed. the builds were good, but every hit that should of been freakin loud was a lot softer than the stuff that came before it....
  13. imagine the tan lines you must get from marching that thing
  14. looks like its gonna be a good year. The show music sounds very interesting, its a bit rough but its early in the year and I'm assuming since its the February camp it was the first time they put it with the feet. The chorale in the background sounds amazing though.
  15. Caption Head "Go run to that tree and bring me back a leaf" Runs, comes back with a leaf Caption Head "Its not green enough..." Sighs....runs...
  16. yeah you're funny. I think it sounds like it has an opportunity to be a very powerful show. I'm been into Chakra stuff for quite a while now, will be great to see it on the field I think.
  17. Maybe not top 5, but I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to get into finals. From what I have heard not only was Esperanza small this past season (i heard something like low 40s in horns), but a huge % of the corps were high-school aged rookies. And there is quite a big differance between a "rookie" in a corps like BD and a corps like Esperanza. A rookie in BD probably already marched 3-4 years in a corps like Esperanza, where as a rookie in a smaller corps is truly a rookie, marching a drum corps for their first time ever. Also, smaller corps usually have a much younger staff. If you switched the members from BD and E, you probably would have a large number of staff at E that actually marched with the BD members not too long ago! It is a combination of many things, but a corps name and reputation draws talent which is a huge part.
  18. I agree with much of what was said here. Having seen Vanguard as early as the first SoCal shows and then many times over the summer until Saturday night, the change was drastic. To me the change in power and emotion in the show was so much larger simply from Thursday to Saturday than from SoCal to Quarters. Something lit a fire in there, and come Finals Vanguard was red hot. It just came too late and the other corps in the top group had raised the bar.
