  1. Topic closed. Thanks, Dark. :)
  2. Hmmm...if a show isn't well designed, a corps won't have much to "show." Hard to put a percentage on it for me.
  3. It's been like this for as long as I can remember.
  4. I'll do the same using your rules, G. And like you, these are my favorites, not the ones I necessarily think should've won. Also, this list changes constantly, but here it is now in no particular order. SCV 99 BD 93 Cavies 00 BD 00 BK 99 Star 93 BD 03 Cadets 97 BD 96 Phantom 96
  5. If I had to pick which I prefer, it would be the music. And for me, good drill doesn't have to be fast, complex, etc all of the time. It gets boring, for me, if it is like that all the time. Like with music, I like variety in drill, but more importantly, I like it to fit the music.
  6. Speaking of Dello Joio, even though it's been done before, I'd like to see a show from his Scenes From the Louvre.
  7. So many. I've said some of these before, but I'll say them again. Requiem Aeternam--John Rutter Suite Fromt the Black Maskers--Roger Sessions Be Thou Our Vision--John Rutter Prayer of St. Gregory--Alan Hovhaness And I'd like to hear a corps do "The Place Where Dreams Come True" from the Field of Dreams soundtrack. The Cadets did some of it a few years back, but there are lots of other parts that are much better, IMO.
  8. I'm not a percussion guy, but I've always really enjoyed the musicality of SCV '98 and Star '93. But I don't really know if those lines were smoking technically or writing-wise.
  9. A group of young people who work very hard, just like the corps who finish at the top.
  10. It's not going to change, but the best way to get it reversed is with your pocketbook.
  11. This is always difficult because I think of lots more after my initial post, but right off the top of my head: '92 Cavies '93 Phantom '99 SCV '96 Phantom '91 Star '90 Star '76 BD '84 Suncoast '93 BD
  12. Please, don't invoke the name of evil. How bout' that Cadets drumbreak and stuff. :P
  13. Topic closed for having no point and because there are already topics open about Centerville.
  14. Here were his projections for this past Saturday, July 15th And here are the actual results from that night: 1 Blue Devils 89.025 2 The Cavaliers 87.950 3 Phantom Regiment 86.975 4 Bluecoats 86.450 5 The Cadets 85.700 6 Carolina Crown 82.725 7 Santa Clara Vanguard 82.225 8 Boston Crusaders 81.475 9 Blue Knights 81.425 10 Madison Scouts 81.400 11 Glassmen 80.925 12 Spirit from JSU 78.475 13 Colts 76.725 14 Crossmen 74.825 15 Blue Stars 74.050 16 Capital Regiment 73.450 17 Southwind 69.575 18 The Magic 66.100 19 Seattle Cascades 65.250 Pretty close on some, not too close on others, from both shows that night. It's all for fun, anyway, Not to be taken seriously.
  15. The next day, they were marching 3 mello holes due to injuries, and I think they were looking to replace a couple of them. Hope they got it all worked out. From talking to the lady who was running the souvie truck, SCV had just flown in a couple of replacements. They even had a sign on their souvie truck that said there were holes that needed to be filled. That ending is pretty cool, but it's even better now that they've added the tag, IMO. Can't wait to see how it shapes out.
  16. Exactly. It completely depends on the show. Like anything else, it can be done poorly or done well, but it depends entirely upon the individual show whether or not it fits. I don't always like amps and vocals and such, but I can think of a few place in SCV '89 show where a strategically placed vocal might have worked.
  17. No problem. I'm ignorant about lots of things. Thanks to you, I might reassess whether or not I should go watch Wagner operas translated into English. :)
  18. Topic closed. Lots of conversation and excitement about the return of VK right here.
