  1. So here’s the challenge for 2022: design and perform a show that will garner this reaction even when performed again during the next pandemic season in 2040.
  2. Correct. For example there’s no way Cadets will try to be competitive in those uniforms next year.
  3. Cadets 1995 closer but it uses the 2021 audio pitch shifted up to match the original
  4. How did people feel the crowd reaction to the Cadets at their home show was? I was pretty far down (row 20) so couldn’t really tell.
  5. Why would they say no? The same people designing DCI shows design WGI shows now.
  6. I think I finally put my finger on why the Cadets show feels so cohesive: they save the drum break for the back half of the show. I’d say around 90% of shows these days follow the same format of slow (electronic) build up, big brass hit, just the percussion plays for one or two minutes, and then the brass comes back in. Most shows now you never feel really get going until it’s too late. Cadets this year revive the tried and true formula of integrating a single drum break, however long, into the second or third piece, in this case Moondance. It works so well and I hope it becomes the standard again.
  7. Just off the top of my head: the amped solo trumpet at the end of Moondance really is as loud as the entire ensemble playing fff before it. In the stands. I promise you.
  8. It’s not Flo! This is what they sound like in the stands. I’ll never for the life of me understand why, but the balance you hear on Flo is more or less the balance that the Cadets’ sound designers want you to hear live.
  9. Lol, welcome to every drum corps show since 2009. It has nothing to do with Flo at all.
  10. Eh, sadly they’re not. As is the norm anything from the pit is about as loud as a forte from the brass (at least on the 50, 20 rows up).
  11. Nice straightforward Cabelleros show. First time ever seeing them live. Loved it!
  12. My first time at Allentown after all these years. Can’t wait!
  13. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the narration would be…that (it is post-2004 Cadets after all). But wow does it cheapen an otherwise timeless show.
  14. Lol at him calling like any full ensemble moment a "flex"
  15. Interesting to see a 2003 show being planned for 2021. I wonder which props they will decide on.
  16. Is it just me or does this sound exactly like Freelancers 1989? I thought it was an original composition though?
  17. Bring back marching and playing! To interesting drill! I'm not so sure I prefer whatever replaced this.
  18. Just Madison Scouts in finals. Not sure which other non-finalist Division I corps did that year (besides Troopers and Pioneer).
  19. Of note: August 9, 2003 marked the last time G bugles were used in DCI finals competition.
