  1. Wish I could go. Will have to make do watching Flo with my newborn in my lap.
  2. You counter with his assertion that not offering scholarships would only cater to the affluent and privileged, by citing an example that only caters to the affluent and privileged? Big brain arguments.
  3. You can try a wonky casting setup, or use the dedicated Flo app for Apple TV.
  4. Corps cut people for being overweight every year. If they want to cut people for smoking, they should. I know I certainly would for brass players.
  5. Yeah, I was in the Airborne Infantry and would routinely chain-smoke 2-3 cigarettes before a 10 mile run. I was still fast. I would've been faster if I didn't smoke. I would've had more endurance if I didn't smoke. I could still crush PT tests while I smoked, but I'd have been able to crush them harder if I didn't smoke. Smoking has a detrimental effect on every human. If it hasn't caught up to you yet, it will. You do not have a magical body that is immune to it. No one does. It's actually caught up to you already, you just aren't aware because you've been smoking for basically your entire adult life.
  6. Because they’re burning a huge amount of calories every day during rehearsal. You can mitigate the damage done to your body by candy bars. You can’t mitigate the damage done to your lungs by smoking. I smoked for over 10 years after I marched. Anyone who developed a habit like mine knows how it destroys your lung capacity and ability to move large amounts of air.
  7. Tom Blair and crew do a great job during championship week. The Flo people continue to be terrible though.
  8. I would be surprised if any do. My high school had a similar atrium style area that had originally served that purpose. When I was in school it was just for show and the doors stayed locked. Smoking was/is illegal on the school campus. I graduated in 2004 too, so not yesterday.
  9. 15 years ago was my time and there definitely wasn’t smoking like crazy going down in the lot. There was a dedicated “smoking area” at every site, and it was always so far away that most members weren’t even aware that there were smokers. There were also strict rules about not having anything on you or with you that could identify you as a member of the corps. I didn’t smoke myself but I had a friend in the guard who explained it all to me. Seemed like way too much hassle.
  10. Crown should be more worried about BAC than BD/Bloo/SCV.
  11. Is it maybe because of Flo? Streaming rights and all. We used to play some, uh, questionably sourced music during encore. lol
  12. Crown honks subsist on hopes and dreams. Always have.
  13. Fair, but Bloo has the soloists up on huge, sometimes moving platforms. Like maybe try looking at the giant platform with the drum set and the guy wailing in John Lennon glasses. lol
  14. Flo cameras continue to not know what a trumpet sounds like.
  15. Bloo’s hardly ever block the forms though, that’s the thing. With SCV I can’t even tell what I’m looking at with all the junk scattered between the members.
  16. It’s funny how even though Bloo still has so many props, they seem far less overbearing than SCV’s. Much “cleaner” to watch, if that makes sense.
  17. Confession: front row was always my first choice, even before shows were designed to be seen up close. 🤣
  18. Press box level is the worst spot for modern drum corps. First row or bust. Shows are designed to be seen up close now.
  19. This post should be required reading before anyone engages in these discussions.
  20. Did they march? If so, none of this should come as a surprise.
  21. Cavaliers 2006 is one of the few shows that I think will be considered universally cool by anyone who sees it. I know my army buddies loved it when we were deployed. They hated everything else.
