  1. For the fun of it, and for the few of us that come to the Open Class forums, I'll take this a bit further. For the Open Class Corps you think will make it to Semi-Finals, what place will they get and what World Class corps will they pass? I think it will look like this: 13. Troopers 14. Colts 15. The Academy 16. Spirit of Atlanta 17. Mandarins 18. Oregon Crusaders 19. Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets 20. Blue Devils B 21. Pacific Crest 22. Cascades 23. 7th Regiment 24. Genesis 25. Jersey Surf
  2. With a total of 25 slots in Semi Finals, three Open Class corps are guaranteed to make it in. It is also possible, and even likely, more than that will make it. But how many? So, which Open Class corps do you think will make it to the Friday show and which World Class corps do you think will not make it? I think Blue Devils B, Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets and 7th Regiment are in. I think Genesis will be the next in with Pioneer falling out from World Class. I wouldn't be surprised if that is it this year, with one fewer Open Class corps making it in compared to last year but it is possible that either Spartans or Legends may edge ahead of Jersey Surf...it will be close! I think Cascades will nab a spot in Semi's.
  3. I thought the Columbians were a new corps - did they exist previously then fold for awhile? As for the Cascades, love seeing the improvements this year and hope they can make Semis.
  4. I think Cascades are going to make the Top 25 especially if they stay ahead of Jersey Surf. Unfortunately, I don't think Pioneer will make it in once we add all of the Open Class corps in the mix. They are scoring well below Genesis at the moment.
  5. I agree, so happy to see Southwind back on the field and I hope they can continue their path and hopefully be World Class again some day. Anyone know how many members they have?
  6. They are certainly making the battle for spots 10-12 exciting! Which two corps will miss out is still up in the air indeed.
  7. I was looking at Sound Machine for scores in the early 2000s and there is a corps listed as Patriots in 2003 that finished 2nd at the Div II/III Finals behind Esperanza. Is this the Rochester Patriots?
  8. Thanks! I see a corps called the Patriots but not sure if it is AKA Rochester. Know if any of these groups still exist in any capacity? East Coast Jazz was quite strong if I recall - would be great to see them come back.
  9. I was watching an episode of Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown show on CNN the other night and the episode was featuring New Jersey. At one point, they interviewed a lady that funds and manages a youth drum line and dance group in a rough part of town and it made me wonder, what happened to the Spirit of Newark/New Jersey corps that existed not so long ago. I then started thinking of all the Div II/III corps I once remember seeing scores for that I no longer see. Curious, does anyone know when the following corps folded and if any of these organizations still exist with hopes of returning to the field? Spirit of Newark/New Jersey Marion Glory Cadets Lehigh Valley Knights Citations Revolution Dutch Boy Patriots East Coast Jazz Yamato Americanos Scenic City Esperanza Capital Regiment Kiwanis Kavaliers Fever Lake Erie Regiment Most of these existed in the early 2000s, when I first started following DCI. Some of these placed high and some made it to World Class...others not so much. Feel free to update on other corps too!
  10. How was this line-up determined? Most of it makes sense for the most part, but Blue Stars going on last really sticks out. I'm all for random line-ups just curious how this one was determined. Anyone dare make some predictions? My take: 1. Blue Knights - 83.35 2. Phantom Regiment - 81.15 3. Boston Crusaders - 78.95 4. Madison Scouts - 78.80 5. Blue Stars - 78.25 6. Troopers - 77.85 7. Crossmen - 76.95 8. The Academy - 74.15 9. Pacific Crest - 72.0 10. Mandarins - 71.65 11. Genesis - 63.45 12. Pioneer - 60.05
  11. Interesting scores last night! Great to see BK so close to Cadets as others have said. I'm also excited to see both PC and Mandarins close to the Colts. Throw in SOA and Oregon Crusaders and that pack is going to be exciting to watch unfold! I'm a huge fan of SOA but I'd love to see Mandarins surprise some folks this year. They are looking real good in Visual Prof. and Percussion!
  12. Maybe they can borrow some instruments from other OC corps out west that aren't making the trip east.
  13. It is very cool and I hope it stays this close. A lot of people keep posting things along the line that they can't wait for the SA show this Saturday as they want things to straighten out - I disagree, I want it to stay close and surprising. It would be awesome going in to Finals week with scores so close across various placements. I can only imagine what it will be like when we mix in the Open Class corps in Indy Quarters and Semis.
  14. I'm hoping Cascades stay well ahead of Pioneer though it will be interesting to see where they sit with OC Genesis. I'd rather see Cascades closer to Mandarins/PC/Colts.
  15. Only one show tonight and here is the line-up: Genesis Pioneer Cascades Mandarins Pacific Crest Troopers Colts Madison Scouts Blue Knights The Cadets Weather: Sunny w/ high of 92 and low of 71; Winds 10-15mph I'm curious to see the Troopers/Madison match-up as well as Mandarins/Pacific Crest/Colts.
  16. DCP = more drama than a daytime talk show like Jerry Springer or Maury Povich
  17. Do you feel sorry for them just because they may (yes, likely won't) make Finals this year? You have know idea how the members actually feel this year so saying you feel sorry for them is a bit much. Those participants may be having the time of their lives right now. While they aren't in the mix of 7th-10th place this year, they are still in the heat of competition and are on the heels of Colts. PC is right in there too. Perhaps we as fans hoped/expected a more dramatic turnaround after last year, but we need to give them more time I think...a steady resurgence. Show our support for this historic corps and let them know we enjoy seeing them on the field.
  18. On a similar note, I'm curious if most World Class corps still have alternates? If so, which corps and how many typically?
  19. BD overtakes Crown in guard last night....I'm really pulling for Crown's guard to take 1st this year so I hope they pull back ahead. Interesting to see the spread between SOA and Colts....still pretty tight and SOA taking VA, Brass, Music Analysis and Percussion and oh so close in guard. It also looks like we have a number of Open Class corps who are really going to be ahead or class to many World Class corps again. It is going to be quite a shoot out for the Top 25 I think to add to the many exciting close groups!
  20. What is the rest of their schedule? DCI.org only shows them attending 3 shows total in 2015 yet it appears they are doing more than that.
  21. Interesting to see you place Boston pretty low.
  22. My prediction for the World Class corps: 1. Blue Devils 2. The Cadets 3. Carolina Crown 4. Santa Clara Vanguard 5. The Cavaliers 6. Phantom Regiment 7. Boston Crusaders 8. Madison Scouts 9. Blue Stars 10. Crossmen 11. Jersey Surf
