  1. I believe Sylvester and Hopkins mentioned on the DVD commentary that they were thinking of using Medea for the closer, but decided to do an original composition while borrowing some bits.
  2. BD '04. Just blown away when I saw this in late-July. Oh yeah, and they're marching 1000mph too, but I digress. :)
  3. This is interesting that Cadets 2000 finals performance (and Cavies 2000 for that matter) are considered off-performances! Those videos blow me away as they are every time I watch them!
  4. I like the end of Crown '04, the singing there seemed like it fit. The part from Rent, not so much! I also like the part from Madison 2000, but I didn't know they were singing words.
  5. I cannot wait to see Phantom in black again :)
  6. w/Stp: , w/Stp: x3 Although I can assure you they are not stupid :)
  7. Opener: Crown Ballad: The Cadets Drum break: Bluecoats Closer: The Cavies!!! No one has said this one, I love it!
  8. On Spring Break I listened to a band at State Concert Festival play Fanfare & Allegro. Thought it sucked, needed more drum breaks :P
  9. I think completely differently. Hitting that wedge let the horn line just lay it out was absolutely godly. Plus the effect with the mellos moving through the wedge was awesome too.
  10. I go with the Blue Devils. Every soloist they have looks like they are going to eat someone's babies. Honorable mentions: The Cavaliers, Niagara Falls comes to mind, the way they make it looks so easy. Can't get over the guard unis though... and I'd think in 1993 you wouldn't want to mess with Star of Indiana. And PHANTOM IN BLACK, love the shot of the drumline in 1996 at the first hit just slammin' it down. Just looked like they were saying "You better back the *!@$ off!" And come on, all black, who'd mess with someone dressed in all black?
  11. How exactly do they pick which corps' show goes on? Like, is it the show that gets the highest number of votes or something? Like if a BD show from the 90's had 300 votes and was 3rd among the 90's, but a BD show from the 70's had 100 votes and was 1st among the 70's, which one counts? Is the process posted anywhere? P.S. I am sad that BD '94 didn't get chosen too, and I really thought Cavies 2000 would get more votes than any other Cavies show.
  12. I'm willing to bet these make it: Star 1993 Madison 1995 Cavaliers 2000 I have no idea about the others, a lot of popular shows among other corps.
  13. Hey, it's also the 10th anniversary of Phantom's championship :) How about an encore number of Shostakovich 5? ^0^
  14. I'd go with the Blue Devils as a corps. I associate them with the kind of cleanliness and execution that the Cavies have, but man, they just have attitude when they perform. You just know they're gonna give everything they've got, just for the audience, THAT'S showmanship.
  15. Ummmm, I would think there's a big rivalry between BD and the Cavies! I mean, since '94 they didn't at least share a title only 2 seasons. Fierce! I also read something about BD and Phantom not liking each other very much.
  16. BD - their tight horn line, their body carriage and marching style, their speed Cadets - their style, their work ethic, their drums Cavies - their drill, their tone, their machine-likeness PR - the unis, the great visual moves and gestures, their repertoire, and their VOLUME! Bluecoats - granted, I didn't really get into them until this past season when I decided I would audition for them if I audition at all (still in it, woo). I like how they fly, and their tunes, and their cheer BLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Scouts - their VOLUME and their showmanship Crown - they're from (or were from) NC and I always go to their home show. Their volume and overall sound is awesome, and I love Bohemian Rhapsody! SCV - their horn carriages, their visuals, their class, and their emotion ('89 and '00) Glassmen - I like their fun show this past season, and I also liked 2001 when they were the "angry" Glassmen as Delucia might say Spirit - their heart! I saw them live in '03 and was sooooooo happy when they made the push at Semis that year to get in
  17. I watched the DVD last night. I want to say that the Cavaliers did a great job of showing some EMOTION in this year's production! They've always been the Green Machine and all about execution, but in the closer it was great to see their faces and watch them have some fun!
  18. When you can't hear the brass line blowing their brains out over the crowd (SCV '89, Madison '95).
