  1. 1! E=MC2- I had actually seen a production of Einstein on the Beach years before Crown did it. I thought No Facking way Crown can pull this off. THEY DID! What a unique incredible show! One of my top 12 corps of all time. Also Sprach Zarathustra * Einstein on the Beach * Walking With Heroes * The Devil's Bridge * The Abyss * The Light Fantastic * The Dark Side of the Moon 2. Down Side Up - Just a fun exciting show full of unforgettable moments. 3. Babylon - It was good to see SCV back on top. ( Those of us who remember the 70's and 80's) 4. Between Angels and Demons- Sacktig's kaleidoscopic drill, Good vs Evil and, a fun fan friendly show. Can't beat that! 5. Metamorph- I remember watching the 1975 and 1976 Blue Devils, Thinking Wow, This corps is next level. I hope they stick around. It was great to see them pay homage to their pass. 6. Through a FellINKiesque Ghostlit Cabaret- Good but Formulaic Drum Corps.
  2. …to look for America (Bluecoats 2013) - This is probably my favorite Bluecoats show and definitely in my top twelve favorite shows of all time. Toy Souldier (Cadets 2010) - Was an awesome show too but it was written so close to The Cavaliers Machine (2006) that it was hard not to compare. I look at all these awesome 5th place shows and think Wow! what were the shows ahead of them?
  3. Bluecoats- When I heard The Bluecoats were doing Beatles music I thought, Oh great another corps facking up Beatles music. But, Wow! I was impressed. Crossmen- During finals week they brought the ENERGY and said WE ARE NOT GOING DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT! Vanguard- My only problem with SCV was after the first song they played through all of their applause lines. The was never a equal exchange of positive energy. Oh and the uniforms sucked. But I loved the show. Boston- Just a fun show to watch. The guard was spectacular! Blue Devils- Those kids perform and perform even better when challenged. Madison- I really liked what they were trying to do, they just didn't have the horses to pull it off. Crown- They march and play so well. The pastel uniforms didn't match the boldness of their show. Phantom- I love how much they improved during the season, They were terrible the first couple of shows. Spirit- They improved over the previous year just like a good corps should. Unfortunately so did the corps ahead of them. Blue Knight- They would have been much higher but their rewrites of Liquid didn't sit well with me at the end. Cavaliers- They scared a few corps this year. Hopefully next year they'll be knocking on the door. The Field- Lots of great drum corps this year!
  4. They helped DCI out of a jam and DCI owes them. Just Kidding! I'm not looking for SMUG reply's. I'm just upset I lost a bet.
  5. They are considered. Just like marching a complex drill was once judged but is now considered.
  6. STOP- Unnecessary body movement. Get a good movement person and visually interpret your music correctly. START- Judging the amount of time units play as a group. The amount of time your percussion and brass play should matter. CHANGE- There are to many non-judge-able elements in drum corps shows. ( singers, choirs, violins, guitars and all the electronic sounds that are produced ) The judging has to evolve at the same rate as the shows.
  7. I'm just going to say it and announce: ( written in white)
  8. Bluecoats- Should have won? They will be super hungry next year. Blue Devils- too many great corps for BD to go on a run of Championships, anytime you win by less than a tenth, nothing is certain. Carolina Crown- Build on the things you did right. Improve the other things. Not that far from GOLD. I could see it. Santa Clara- I think Vanguard know what they need to do but so do top 3. Still a threat to repeat. Cavaliers- I would love to see Cavies higher but that top 4 is a hard nut to crack. Boston- I'd even put them as high as 4th. Cadets- Show Designer. Clean the brass, fix the guard. Blue Knights- I love BK just the way they are. Mandarins- so many corps doing dark shows, kind of got lost in the mix. Crossmen- need to take a step up. They have been at the same level for the past six years. Blue Stars- need to take a step up. They have been at the same level for for the past six years. Phantom- need to take a step up. They have been declining for six years. Spirit of Atlanta- I could see them making finals.
  9. Bluecoats and Blue Devils Tie tonight which means BD wins by .05. I don't want this to happen but they will go to the 3 day combined right?
  10. Notice how little Blue Devils brass actually play compared to the other top corps. A lot of front ensemble, percussion, soloist and, small ensembles.
  11. If you are paying all that money for FLOMARCHING You should not be watching 40 minutes of COMMERCIALS! A pay per view service should not 40 minute block of commercials they are receiving money for.

  13. Thought I'd break this out from a few years ago I've been to every DCI in Indy a few BOA's and a couple of NCAA events. The best dining experiences I have had: Fogo de Chao 317-638-4000, 117 East Washington Street- Brazilian BBQ, The side orders and cheeses in the buffet are incredible. The red meat eaters in our group said the meats are Awesome! Tavern on South 317-602-3115, 423 West South Street- I've eaten here about 10 times. Salmon, Chilean sea bass, filet mignon, etc... All Excellent! Fresh in house made deserts! (My first meal in Indy will probably be there!) St Elmo's Steak House, Weber Grill, Ruth Chris Steak House, Morton's Steak House- I've Been to all four more than twice. You probably can't go wrong here. Palomino 317-974-0400, 49 West Maryland Street and Mo's A Place for Steaks 317-624-0720, 47 South Pennsylvania Street- Just as good as the above but, Better side dishes in my opinion. Oceanaire Seafood Room, 317-955-2277, 39 South Meridian Street- I've never had a bad or average meal here! The Food Trucks on W. Georgia St. ( Mon-Fri)- Everything I bought at the trucks were reasonably priced and delicious! I had Cajun jambalaya, BBQ chicken and tons of other stuff. Turkey Legs,Corn on the Cob and Lemon Aid at the State Fair! Yum, Yum and Yum! I travel with some hard core Foodies. All we do is talk drum corps and food. Everybody has their own favorites though.
  14. George Dixion, The score as of this minute has them 7th until something changes. The spread between Boston and Cadets is 1.975 until something changes. I don't give a ratsass what the score was last time they went head to head as of right now it is what it is. The other stuff we agree on.
  15. The Cadets are improving their performance every show. The Cadets show design is bad but the design team is trying to make it better I see the changes they are making. The Cadets have a very good percussion section and an awesome front ensemble. The Cadets brass section are cleaning up their performance issues. The Cadets guard is performing much much better. The Cadets are currently in 7th place about were we expected them to be. The Cadets are 1.975 away from Boston. Nobody expected that. The Cadets finishing 7th would be considered a good season considering how good every other corps is this year. The Cadets finishing above 7th would be considered an incredible season. Design team is a priority for next year. Guard and Brass are next on the list.
