  1. I have all the DVD's plus Assia(sexyguardcap) has tons of stuff her people video/ movie recorded from 1960? to 1980? Every evening is a Classic Countdown to me. I'm staying home unless friends want to go. Lancerlady's kid is soooo adorable. I can't wait to be a father.
  2. Just watched 1994 BD chock full of average moments. That and 2003 are over hyped. I love BD in 1988 and 2005 is one of my favorite drum corps shows this decade. I love the Devils drums in 2005!
  3. I'm shunning THE CADETS, Just like the ahmish do.
  4. This season, though, I'm taking it one step further and will refuse to watch any shows containing three valve horns! That'll show DCI!
  5. Jeez, I just got over The Memphis Blues Brass Band. Now THIS!
  6. The truth is the days of Drum and Bugle corps are long gone. Summer marching music has evolved. I marched in The Cadets when we were from Garfiled NJ. We won championships as Garfield Cadets,Cadets of Bergan county, Holy name Cadets and they'll win again. I love all my alma mater has taught me. Maybe your experience wasn't as strong as mine. It's a NAME CHANGE! so what. As long as they march , spin and play to the best of their abillities. The name doesen't matter. OH and NO WOODWINS! Go Cadets marching music ensamble with flag and rifles and amplified narration presented by YEA in conjuntion with the city of Allentown, PA!
  7. I voted YES Most corps members are students and most instructors are educators. Drum Corps for me was like summer music school with the Cadets. Mater fact I learned more about playing my brass instrument from Jim Prime and Donny Vanduren, then I did at four years at Duke Ellington School of th Arts from Don Zegal my brass instructor.
  8. 1982 Montreal, Olympic stadium playing the final chords of Gershwins Piano Concerto in F. (With The Garfield Cadets) Tears just started streaming down my face. I was overcome by the sound of the drums and bugles, the site of the crowd standing and cheering, the hair standing on the back of my neck, the goose bumps. I could feel my heart beating through my uniform jacket. I was overcome with emotion. As we marched off the field the EMT people ran over to me to see if I was OK.
  9. I just talked to Cathrine Thomas. She says she remembers marching in that show pictured.
  10. Sounds great for February 7th, Can't wait til June , July and August!
  11. One word of advice. Try to stay as close to the stadium as posible. People in SoCal drive crazyand fast, very fast. I'm from DC, we are bad drivers. But when your driving 80 on the freeway and people are passing you like your parked. That's fast! My friend Assia had to take over the driving. She's from Cali.
  12. DCI prelims 1976 20 Boston Crusaders 75.200 21 Muchachos 74.750 22 Precisionnaires 74.200 23 Argonauts 73.800 24 Commodores 72.800 25 Colts 71.250 26 Pioneer 71.200 27 Marion Cadets 70.250 28 Kilties 70.050 29 Saints 69.550 30 North Star 69.150 -1976 was a heck of a year!
  13. I agree. My first show was New London Conn. 1975. I marched in a drum and bugle corps. I think the changes that DCI has allowed, has made drum corps better. 2006 was a wonderful year.
  14. I started on violin in 3rd grade, then added trombone in 5th grade and finally started the ol valve and roter a couple months later.
  15. you need to get your head out of your Fox News Hole and read a book or a real news paper. It's OK to be repubican. Just don't make excusses for a lier and a crook. Back to drum corps talk.
  16. NAFTA is a big part of american jobs going over seas. Bush and his admin are the cause of many things that are wrong in America. The war 12 billion of our tax dollars stolen in Iraq New Orleans still not receiving recovery funds The hole not filled at ground zero Lies about everything! I could go on and on. Don't blame Yamaha on BUSH! :P Don't turn DCP into fourmville!!!
  17. What I love about the Cavaliers is their consistency in all captions. The thing I hate about the Cavaliers is the cresendo the visual programs have taken since 2000. 00- very good 01-better 02-great 03-WOW! 04-very good 05-OK 06-good (The concept was better than the music and visual program that supported it.) I once said Cavaliers would come in second place, BUT if Phantom and Bluecoats keep their current pace and the Blue Devils tweek a few captions and if The Cadets get back in winning form, who knows, they could land anywhere in the top 5. Oh and watch out for Santa Clara!
  18. 27th Lancers and Phantom of the 70's and 80's Drum and Bugle corps. Holly Hawks, New York Royal Guardsmen, Cavaliers and State Street review indoor guard.
  19. I think Cathrine Thomas would be better suited to write on this subject. She marched in one of the most successful all black drum corps of the 70's, The VIP's from Washington, DC.
  20. The North Star in 1979 were GREAT!!!!!! I saw them practice during finals week in 1979 it was an incredible experience. I wish everyone could go back in time and experience the drumlines of the late 70's early 80's.
  21. Also The VIP's from Washington, DC, The Columbians (my first corps) #2 police boys club (DC) , VFW Lancers, there are more I'll have to research.
  22. Joelle ayllen was drum major for the Oakland Crusaders in 1975 and 1976
  23. Are you talking about drum corps or Bush and the war?
