  1. I'm glad you didn't say it. I would have had to recall last year
  2. I totally concur. I was a PHANTOM FREAK last year, but deep down I knew the gold should have gone to BD. Nevertheless, I'm happy. I think BD will walk away with it this year, even though I have yet to make it through a broadcast of their entire show this year.
  3. The Cavies show is becoming one of my faves of theirs in quite sometime. I'm loving it, but they are some issues to attend to in the horns. Once these are corrected, I can see them getting closer to BD for sure.
  4. In talking about encores, I really like Crown and Phantom, but my vote is for the Cadets. Hymnsong and Rocky Point always do it for me!!
  5. As an alumnus, I must admit that I do not like the direction in which the corps is going at the moment. Of course, I wish them the best and will always be thankful for the corps experience, but the move to Dallas and the name change, and now the scores have not bode well for Mempho yet, and again, I'm hoping this will change. The goal of becoming a World Class corps is even further out of reach than when in Memphis, IMO. This should not even remotely be a goal. I also wish that the administration would accompany their asking for money ALL THE TIME with some progress/pics/media of the corps. It's pretty hard to support a corps you haven't even heard news about.
  6. Hopefully it is new OPENER drill. Those opening sets are terrible and are prone to visual impairment. I don't care if they are to display violin strings or not. Also, the guard cleanliness is not the problem, it's the work. Almost horrible choreography, and it looks quite similar to the 04 year. Is it the same guy? Bring Adam Sage back!!!
  7. I'm not sure whether I should laugh or be offended, but LOL
  8. Yes, Tez. This season, and not about how they are compared to seasons past. I am SO surprised to see that PR vote, and it's not because they were last year's champion, either.
  9. HNC would be my next choice, even though I loathe WSS
  10. My vote is for the Cavaliers. I remember thinking this show was a tragic mess at the beginning of the season, and I predicted Cavies to be sitting around 6th around this time, but the music and even Visual are worlds better than they were. I'm not talking about typical improvements either, above and beyond. This is not one of my fav. three shows this year, but I still have great respect for the Cavaliers for not giving up. On the other hand, I'm really worried about my favorite corps, PR. Maybe they'll be most improved by the end of the season?!!!?!?!?!
  11. TRY to be objective folks. We all want to vote for our favorite corps, but think about who has improved in show design, visual, music, guard, perc, etc. Also, it doesn't have to be based on the scores or who is ranked highest.
  12. Crown has the worst uni by far. It came over with Adam Sage and the tragic mess that was the Spartacus unis. Don't get me wrong, I loved Spartacus last year and love Crown even more this year, but the guard uni designs are atrocious. Please get someone with taste to do them next time. In fact, PR guard hasn't had a good uni since 06 with Faust, and Crown not since 05.
  13. Sevierville, TN was the first show I marched at and it was not a pleasant marching experience.
  14. I'm a bit concerned about Open Class. I feel we face greater challenges than World Class in many respects due to fighting to get members, not getting a "full" corps, whose fees would help to offset some of the debt incurred throughtout the years. It's tough. I hope people will invest in Open Class to see that it grows stronger over the ensuing years.
  15. It is a forum, after all! That's what we do, criticize, although I don't find his or her post "critical" at all.
  16. There's a problem with this statement. What's up with the future/past tense contradiction? "If all corps hit their potential" is predictive and futuristic, whereas the top three are already locked in which is at least present tense, if not past. So, in other words, what if all corps don't reach their potential? Different top 3?
  17. I really wish people would at least try to be a little more objective about these things. I personally have not marched neither Crown nor Cadets, but thankfully, I can be objective no matter the circumstance (or at least I try). From what I've seen, both corps have demanding shows. There are parts of each show that are more demanding than the other. Right now, I favor Crown's show over the Cadets, but I have historically liked the Cadets more. In response to a prior post about Crown lacking "hit points" like years past, I totally disagree. There are parts of this show that will definitely get people out of their seats. Along the same lines, the Cadets show is far better than anything of theirs since 2005, IMO. Finals time will indicate the better corps. obviously. Cadets have been known to push toward the end, but Crown hasn't necessarily been known to falter. We shall see!
  18. Precisely! If one cannot see that this is going on throughout the entirety of drum corps discussion, then clearly you are seeing and hearing only what you want to. Bottom line, nothing that's said on here should have a direct bearing on the corps' performance and overall outlook. After all, it's not like it's current members that are talking smack...
  19. How do I know that Crown is doing as good as they've ever done in History? The number of haters has increased exponentially. Keep on hatin'; Crown has this on lock!!!
  20. This is tough! I hated SCV's show early on, but now I LOVE it. Same with Crown. I'm not feeling PR yet, nor BD or Cavies show. Cadets has wowed me as well. I think I have to submit my vote for SCV. They made me smile. That really emotional smile that makes you think about all the good in your life. They touched my heart.
  21. The guard was quite deserving of that score! It's like they were clones or something. Impeccable performance. Will that carry over into Citations? Their guard was strong last year. But for the best div 2/3 show ever, the award must go to Magic 02, as reflected in the score and overall outlook of the show. WOW!
  22. The Cavaliers are going to have some serious problems unless they significantly "tweak" their music. I was dumbfounded when I listened to the music. It is quite evident that the music is defiinitely "down" from years past, and that's on top of an already weaker brass program in comparison to its visual program. I love the Cavies and want to see them do well, but I'm very concerned. That being said, I don't think Crown will beat the Cavies again this year , especially after all the full captions are added. ;) I love Crown too, though. Decisions, decisions.
  23. LOVE their music this year, but top 3 is NOT happening!
  24. WHAT!?!?!?! I didn't know they were in Tulsa. I was just there! Dangit!
