The official "Who is that soloist?" topic?
csugrad replied to Hrothgar15's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
That would be Mark Hoskins. Local HS band director in the Atlanta Area and spend a few years on Spirit's staff in the late 90's - early 2000's. -
You could talk to any recent BD member or Alumni or you could watch the Dynasty of Brass DVD or you could e-mail Wayne Downey and ask him. I learned them 2 years ago from a BD ageout 02 when we taught a div. III line together but I have since forgotten all of them.

Congrats CVets

OT: Reminds me of the 1989 finals night debacle for the Blue Devils. THose that were there saw it/heard it live as well as on the PBS broadcast. DCI (or BD) decided however to leave the video as is but all the Cassettes/CD's/LP's were mass produced with the semi-finals performance dubbed over the chop malfunction. Talk about a method to spark VIDEO sales over the CD! lol Everyone who was not there wanted their chance to see/hear the soloist miss the exposed solo.

I too would like to think yes to the Blue Stars gaining ground when actually it is the Scouts who are slipping down to them. Those guard scores are horrible for them. It is quite hard to believe that the guard is their weak spot. :(
-
ok.. I'll go watch my legacy DVD's tomorrow to see. Too late to do that stuff now.

Cadets have been marching Right foot lead since atleast 1983. What is funny is watching dancers try out for color guards in HS and college. Dancers are trained to lead with the right foot and quickly have to learn to lead with the left. It's the bozos that are the most fun to watch!

OK.... RAIN 2 - DCI 0 Final There are your scores for tonights shows. Glad you came. Have a great night!

Mike, I HOPE you will have more on than just your camera and a smile!

my guess is Div. II/III sheets for MCL since Memphis Sound was there also. I hate that cause at the judges meeting they talked about judging DAC groups on DCA sheets this summer.

Oxidation is happening to your horn. Enough of the silver coat has been removed from the acid bath that you will have to get it cleaned/polished again and redipped. Sorry to hear you are having this problem. It does happen quite often. If you want a more definitive answer go visit www.trumpetmaster.com or www.trumpetherald.com and post it to the forums and someone there who knows way more about this than we do will give you the best answer.

are your scores an average or the latest score available or the highest score to date? Just wondering.

Nope. 68.7 is what was announced at the show by Ross Iddings. I was there and have it written down on the program flyer. -

Come on.. between being the first show for Crown and it being a home show let them get the jitters out of their system. I am sure they will improve like all of you WANT them to do. LOL -
Nice show coats. I hate to see the last 3-4 minutes going down hill in visual dept. but that will clean up. I hope it does quick in order to not distance yourself from the top 3 tier. Love the opening move! brass and percussion are smoking too. Just get the back half clean quick so you can get to the next level. I hope to see them challenge for the 3-4 spot if not higher!

Cavies greatest drill hits! *yawn* Sorry folks, it is quite clean for this early but it is like watching every show from the 90's on. Rehash after rehash of gate/squad turns and filled boxes. I am NOT knocking it at all, just stating that it is really boring to see the same things over and over again. But clean is clean and it works even for the music chosen. We'll see how it cleans up in the end.

I thought the sound was quite good for streaming. The video is a little jumpy or choppy on my broadband connection.

Also.... posted from a Spirit alumni who is there...

I think the tribute to Freddy Martin/DCI hall of fame ceremony is why Boston chose NOT to do the CF last night. -
Anyone here got a connection to the show tonight? I just read on another thread that it has rained there already in the last 2 hours. :-( Columbia Weather

Please don't say it. Not another rained out Firstbeat! (hoping this will help keep out any further rain there tonight!)
