  1. This is always funny to hear. The truth being quite opposite. Most in our line are current music educators, former marching members of various corps, a few play regularly in other groups, and some, myself included, only play in this group. The things we have in common are that we enjoy making music together, working hard to reach the highest standard of playing and marching that we are able, having fun, and entertaining the crowd.
  2. These are still available. I am unable to attend.
  3. Retreats now should be like those in the 80s. Each corps plays their "corps song" for the champions then leaves. What's the rush? Curfews? Age-outs leave your stuff on the field, mingle in the parking lot. BOA spectacle retreat at a drum corps finals = suck. Don't fix what wasn't broke.
  4. I have 3 tickets to the Murfreesboro DCI show to sell. Club 3 Row 4 Seats 4, 5, 6. Face value. $45.00 each. Really good seats. Send a PM to me if interested.
  5. Normal, IL show Murfreesboro, TN show DCI Semi Finals Alumni Corps Performance Most likely done with the activity after this year.
  6. Why, yes. That was how it went! Nice. We followed them at contests so I was never able to see it from the front, but they sounded pretty darned good from the side.
  7. Silly Sarcasm on: Karen, you're such a "troll"!!! Yeah right. I watched the video yesterday. I too remember Jim's speeches. It was interesting watching another corps occupy the same hall as we did in Star years ago and now as an Alumni Corps. I think it is great to see a group using such a great facility for drum corps again. I wish the Scouts great success for the summer. With the staff in place now and hard work by the kids, they will be sure to have a terrific experience.
  8. The Star Alumni Corps is in good hands and will perform just fine. There are previous Star of Indiana staff members helping with the project. Madison will do just fine this year.
  9. The volume wasn't loud enough at the Avon, IN theater either.
  10. Don't get too warm and fuzzy. I bought the "best available" immediately after they went on sale for Quarterfinals only. After calling and reselecting, my best available ended up in section 536. I think there must have been a lot of Block and Fantastic Five tickets sold. I'm not impressed with Ticketmaster at all this year. I had great seats for Quaterfinals last year. Right on the 50 in an upper section. Oh well. I like the lot anyway.
  11. Everything there is ridiculously expensive. Slice of pizza = $7, Soft Drink $4 for small, $5.50 in plastic cup. Other food items were $7-$8. Snacks around $4 or so. Blah. I can't imagine how much the beer costs. I'm sure those who have been to a Colts game know. I would plan on sneaking in a snack or two and a well hidden bottle of water or eat out before going into the stadium. Food is within easy walking distance. There is of course, a White Castle nearby.
  12. I was in section 639 row 18 and was surprisingly pleased with the sound. I was able to see all of the field and the concrete wall/ceiling had a flat screen tv on it. As a matter of fact, there were flat screens around the entire area up there. You could see the enormous screens just fine, but it was nice to have the tv there for close-ups and features. I took a lot of photos and will post a link when they are uploaded. My only gripe is that the side curtain that covered up the open concession area needed to cover the corners a little more to block off sound and other distractions. I was very pleased with the sound up high. I will probably look to get tickets for DCI in the 400-600 level between 40's. I think DCI will be just fine there.
  13. ISSMA (State School) marching band competition is there this Saturday. It'll be interesting to see what happens to the sound and if there is a backdrop. Will report back later. Also...loved Finals in Bloomington...perfect stadium for drum corps performance!
  14. 1988 Horicon, WI. As we turned backfield we saw the very black clouds coming our way. They stopped us in the middle of a really good performance and told us to get off the field and load up. I think there were a few more, but mainly just delays instead of cancelled shows.
  15. This is great. It's 2 am, I'm working the night shift laughing my ### off! Thank you.
  16. 1990 was my favorite season. Marching in 1990 Star was amazing and the entire tour was an incredible experience. It was a very competitive season and I think everyone had a good show that year.
  17. DCI Quarterfinals..Section 106 Row 15 Semifinals...Parking Lot Finals...Parking Lot
  18. Regret: Missed my last 2 years and a ring with Star because I was stupid enough to get married. (To the wrong guy...divorced 3 years later. ) No Regret: Went back to college by enrolling in summer school in 91 and completed my degree. Things happen for a reason I suppose. I ended my drum corps career with a great hornline.
  19. Exactly what I am doing. Have great seats already.
