I think the lowest SCV could go is 23rd unless I am mistaken.

I think that DCI should let the top 7 corps add woodwinds and do extra side shows and let them keep all the money and give them more from all the other shows,,,,, oops, I guess thats already proposed.

They have too much class to join the greedy 7.

Welcome to the world of the Cadets. When you are on top people are going to try and knock you down. They are doing something different and getting the reaction they choose to receive. That isn't bad or good, it just is what it is. When they talk about jazz, they aren't talking obscure versions that need liner notes for people to understand. Go back to the 70s and 80s and listen to what they did. Musical genious. Maybe this show is too, I haven't heard it, so can't say its not.

I was newly crowned the judge of what people liked so I thought who better to ask than the people that still go to shows nowdays. What do you think. Is it more enjoyable to YOU personally, if you have to see a show several times and read the libretto to understand, or do you just enjoy sitting back and watching the show while enjoying simple but stellar tunes?

I was actually being rudely sarcastic. Your point about the judges seeming to get it, is part of the greater problem. judges are usually music instructors at college level, so they better get it. Unfortunatly John Q Public just wants to be entertained without having to think. No doubt BD has the game figured out, and the judges reward them for it, but at what cost?

That is exactly my interpretation upon first viewing them, then I went back to doing some fun calculus problems before the psych ward locked me in for the night. So what your saying is a newcomer to DCI would have NOOOOOO clue to what BD is trying to do?

Any show that NEEDS a title should HAVE a show that the music supports such. That music should support it in such a way that I can actually understand it without a libretto. I just find it amazing that corps don't think 5 good songs can stand on their own without titling it. Kudos to Madison. Alson unreal how any corps made it back in the day without titles to their "production".

Seems you like black kettles to call black. Those that came here to see what people thought of the top 5 got nothing. I came here to see, as I have no intention of seeing ANY of these shows this year. Therefore my opinion on said shows would hold no water. All I wanted was to see what people thought about the shows. You BD fans and alumni need to learn form the class that the Cadets put out when they were slammed for years by this crowd and probably by some of you on here, decrying the BD slamming. They took all that was dished and held their head respectably high. And for the record, I don't dislike the BD as a whole, just their band loving G7 garbage they spew. That goes for the other four in this thread also.

Big difference between commenting on something and whining about something. The OP COMMENTED about his OPINION, the following was a bunch of whining fans trying to justify their show. I don't care who wins today or ever. I have my favorite no matter what the green shirts say, but I will respect the OP in his right to voice an opinion. As far as the chairs last year, who cares, wasn't my favorite show so didn't really bother me. I have only watched that particular show twice and the Yowza show.......didn't even make it through once. I came in this thread looking for dialogue but found nothing but little kids crying about opinions that don't match their own. I am like the OP in that I was waiting to see someone talk about the other corps mentioned, and all we got was one for the Cavies. Be happy as BD fan that your corps wins and enjoy their band show next year. Can't wait for those clarinet lines playing that hot jazz BD used to be known for.

WOW, 16 pages of BD fans and alumni CRYING over and over again about someones OPINION. This is funny. I have never read a bunch of more arrogant, conceated whining about one mans opinion EVER. If you don't like it move on, go look in your mirror at your shiny medals. Thats all BD is about is medals right? Heck with the fan, just win, AT ALL COST. YOWZA, YOWZA, YOWZA......Carry on with your whining defense of a show you have nothing to do with or about. Have fun in your G7 band corps next year.

Not really directed anywhere. Just kind of a statement overall. The corps get penalized for starting late but recieve no penaltie when their show isn't completely done, and they stop and blow. Yet, none of those corps didn't have their NONJUDGED intro down pat..... just saying. Priorities.

So its ok to assess a penalty for starting late but its still ok to stop your show early because it isn't finished ( penalty free ). Thats OK?

I hope so too, and I really hope you guys sell out. What a show line up from top to bottom, and a beautiful city to have it in. Surprised DCI never held a championship there. Sorry if my post seemed directed at the hosts of the show, I just notice that same statement alot without ever hearing what the numbers really were. Would be interesting to know. they relelase it at all major league events and DCI is the major league of marching. good luck.

Which makes me say to the designers who design these exotic esoteric run around type shows, why can't you incorporate the old school symmettry with new school speed and creativity? Would be awesome to have mirrored images of some of the moves corps make now days.

Not to be a downer, but I am tired of hearing that ticket sales to any show are going awesome, but there is never any kind of inkling as to the number already sold. If I am promoting it, I say there is xxxxx amount of seats and there are xxxxx amount of good ones left. I think you will do great with your show, but this is in every show, no one ever wants to say a true number. Why? I don't want to just drive to Mn ( 5 hours ) and find out that it is sold out, but maybe, I don't know if I can go yet, so would like to know what the chances are of seats available. See my point? If its close to a sell out, state it. Just my .02 but yes it can be called a rant. Good luck though with what should be the best sounding show of the year.
