  1. Well said. That has always been the Cadet philosophy - 1990, when you marched, and 1992 classic cases in point.
  2. The coffee barely stayed in my mouth for that one. Thank you! If you went, you might get a "most dedicated fan" article written about you by Boo. Boo? Boo?
  3. Since DCI corps have minors in them I doubt you'd get away with it. DCA corps also have a mix of legal adults and minors. Sorry, your grand plan to save drum corps has failed. ;) But there might be room for a BLAST! version of "Oh, Calcutta!"
  4. I didn't enjoy School for Scandal for drum corps. Fits and starts everywhere. But I love it for orchestra. That having been said, you can never please anyone. Ever. SCV this year is a case in point. I have even seen people posting that they don't get what the big deal was over Spartacus last year. Let me just conclude by saying that I hate every single corps design out there. I could have done it so much better. In fact, they should fire everyone who writes music and drill for DCI and hire me to write for the Crossmen and every single corps. Then every corps would tie for 1st with 100.0s. DCI would be more popular than the NFL, the NBA, and American Idol combined. The kindergartens would be empty in six years because every single person in America would have thrown their babies from the top row at the Crossmen and every other corps. Thank you.
  5. I think I'm going to go 39.95 - I won't be around for a lot of the live shows incl semis. Thinking of making a trip to the theatre for quarters.
  6. Stupid question - does VOD come with the 39.95 or do you have to buy them individually like APDs?
  7. When I play it, at the end a script causes my Firefox to crash. But it's only spring training!
  8. Anyone remember calling 1-900-CAN-DRUM obsessively and getting hundreds of dollars worth of toll call charges at the end of the summer? Or waiting hours to download mp3s off Napster and then getting knocked offline at the last minute? I think I shall be renewing Fan Network.
  9. Your memory is selective. Great Divide and Chain Reaction were insanely difficult and most of it was done by the whole ensemble at a flat-out run. On the flip side, I listened to 93 Scouts for the first time in ages and there was some really tasty stuff in there indeed. I always thought that the closer was the miss in 93 Scouts. There was a whole minute of that show that the writers forgot to give you.
  10. FTW. I nominate you for the "Spirit of INT" award. Consistent yet never stale. Always there. Bold yet humble. Never attends recaps.
  11. And what you're saying is, that's exactly what they do today as well - except the payoff moments are loud angry staccato bursts, virtuoso ensemble drumming, rifles throwing fours, etc. So maybe the 1970s and 1980s - attempts to make a drum corps sound like an orchestra or jazz band - were the aberration? That's heavy.
  12. Mad Scotty, that is a good point. How much do you think this kind of arranging was due to the constraints of having either prescribed or traditional "compulsories" such as an off-the-line, drum solo, concert, color presentation, exit, etc.? While this may not have been true after 1972, I think it took DCI corps a few years at least to begin to stretch themselves after having been in a VFW/AL artistic straitjacket for years. But then again, I am not familiar with the VFW/AL rules.
  13. In the BD Show Announcement thread (which for some reason I can't link to right now), jwscv87 says approximately the same thing as I do, but takes less bandwidth to do it.
