I recognize title - from a Disney movie, right? Granddaughter #2 is fan.

And it doesn’t help that there aren’t parents available to sign up for this, even if they wanted to, because the membership is national. I wonder how many WC members in 2023 lived within a 100-mile radius of where their Corps is based?

I marched at the tail end of that era; from our 50-member Corps we had/have 2 college professors, several military officers, an Alaska crab fisherman, several government employees, engineers, a spy, a Catholic priest (no one saw that coming), multiple financial and tech industry professionals, several business owners, 2 band directors and probably more that I don’t know of. And we can trace it to the ethos taught in Drum Corps. All from one little Corps.

We need something like musical reform schools today.

As you know, these shows can be very creative & entertaining. It takes a special kind of talent & attitude to throw it down when you don’t have 110 more members backing you up. I just wish they had packed stands for Open Class finals.

Not going to Open Class? As a small Corps alumni, if I were going to DCI, I would make a point of to Open Class. But I know that few agree with my position

Yes; NFL, Big10, SEC, et al have big contracts w media. And at least in SEC all schools get same cut of pie; Alabama gets same $ as Vandy. This said. I don’t see DCI gets $500M contract with ESPN.

A Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass show could work well for a smaller Open Class Corps.
