  1. I think there are 2 parts here. W/R/T individuals that are accused & are dead, well, the Catholic Church still reports to law enforcement, and if deemed credible (however that is determined) publishes the names of the accused as there may still be other victims still living. Concerning individuals accused (at some level), but no longer involved in Drum Corps, that is a more dicey issue. The individual who we are thinking about here (but not naming) has indeed fallen off the planet w/r/t Drum Corps. I have no idea of what they are doing now.
  2. Why do they need to come forward publicly? Shouldn't a call to the aforementioned DCI hotline suffice?
  3. What happens when the ED of a Corps is part of the problem? Like, say he or she knowingly hired an educator, perhaps a brass instructor who had a record of sexual misconduct w/ students, & then engaged a firm to 'scrub the internet' of any record of the misconduct. Some Corps are More Equal than Other Corps.
  4. It may or may not be a sport. But it is certainly athletic. And as they say - 'If you cant be an athlete, be an athletic supporter'.
  5. For a while they marched North drums, inc snares. Got rid of them quick - weighed too much and made ticks much easier to hear.
  6. FWIW, our drum instructor marched 1982 BD; he referred to them as 'gock' drums. Maybe gock evolved to spock or vice versa?
  7. What is a free floating snare drum? Do they levitate?
  8. It didn't help that the rest of the Corps was waiting for him to hit a specific note as the cue to move...
  9. We'll see how long the pandemic will go on before I need to break out the sheep lungs & stomachs....
  10. Because they have a whole 'nother 12 months to tweak the show concept - one tweak at a time.
  11. Giblets can be yummy if prepared properly.
  12. OK, I'll play. How about DCI crowning a champ that violated the age rules for most of the season? 😈 (this should take our minds off the virus for a bit)
  13. As you would expect because cases are increasing, & number of deaths always lags behind number of cases.
  14. I fear an issue may be 'What do we do about age-out members who were contracted for 2020, but the Corps they were contracted to doesn't survive until 2021'.
  15. The way Salvation Army, Red Cross & many other relief groups run kitchens is to just show up & start feeding people. I personally witnessed this after 9-11 at Pentagon - they just showed up & started feeding responders, construction workers (who also 'just showed up'). Same thing in Louisiana after Katrina - they drove south until they couldn't get any further & that is where they first set up shop. Dealing with some local gov't to 'rent' our food truck is likely way down the priority list for governments. If a Corps has a lot of food on hand that will go bad before the 2021 season they could load up the truck & go to the nearest Covid-19 hotspot. But they shouldn't expect reimbursement.
  16. Dare I predict that Drum Corps camps for the 2021 season will be well under way before we see GH go in trial? Unless he makes a plea deal.
  17. They are releasing non-violent offenders who have completed at least part of their sentences first. GH is accused of Sexual Assault. This is a violent crime. If convicted, he will not be assigned to a minimum security facility. In addition, when it comes to "normal" parole, one big factor the parole board looks at is 'has the convict admitted his crimes & is repentant?' So GH would also have to get over that (mental) hurdle as well. (I also understand that at this point he has pled 'not guilty', and is considered innocent until proven guilty. But if convicted, he is by definition been proven guilty; at some time after that he would first meet the parole board). Also, the Covid-19 outbreak will likely wreak havoc on the court schedule - so it may be a while before GH sees his day in court. And no one knows what the Covid & Convicts (that has a nice ring to it) situation will be at that point. It is also possible that he accepts the plea deal that has been offered. But we won't know that until the next court date (currently listed as 16 April; suspect that will change) at the earliest. I cannot imagine that in this day & age a plea deal for Sexual Assault would not include prison time, but I have been surprised in the past.
  18. One can draw out legal proceedings with lots of motions, etc. But that also costs $$. Which it is sometimes used by litigants with deep pockets.
