  1. Eh... I'm willing to bet that those jazz running aren't playing in that block, and if they are, certainly not more than a mezzo forte. The top corps always know when to use the smoke and mirrors on difficult sets like this.
  2. It's not a cop out in any sense of the word. White pants= emphasis on feet. Black pants= emphasis on form. This translates to a COMPLETELY different style of drill design. Cavies/BD are able to pull off their kaleidoscopic and curvilinear drill so easily because all you see is their plume/upper body. If Crown or Cadets tried the same, the form is lost because seeing the feet moving muddies up the form. White pants look most impressive in pinwheels and block forms, while black pants can pull off all sorts of micro details (something like the diamond cutter would be a complete wash with PR or Crown's current unis, even if done cleanly.)
  3. You're not going to see different results if you try the same thing as last year. It's not that complicated.
  4. Since this thread is not exempt from pettiness, and all about arguing over opinions, I'll insert the only thing I know to be true. Affect is also a noun. Look it up.
  5. I think the biggest problem in this thread is that OP and other's are defining "dissonance" as music they don't like. Some of us do like it and can hum the music as atonal as it might be.
  6. I guess it would be funnier if this weren't the official opinion of a large group of regular posters on DCP. I do appreciate that there are those of you with tears in their eyes laughing at them, though.
  7. The scout uniform with a red sash instead of black would be killer.
  8. The scout uniform with a red sash instead of black would be killer.
  9. I'm amazed you folks can manage to get out of bed in the morning. I have it on pretty good authority that the sun will come up again tomorrow. Relax.
  10. No, no. This statement is laughable simply because it's easy to throw out there without any solutions. So what action do you suggest DCA should take to Bucs from "ruining" DCA? Disqualify the Bucs? Give the other corps handicaps? Institute a membership draft? It's ridiculous, dude. As Jeff Ream would say, the corps with the highest score wins, and it's just so happened that Bucs have gotten the highest score for a while. If another corps would like to take that away, then all they have to do is get a higher score. Please continue with your regularly programmed conspiracy theories.
  11. I read the first couple pages and nothing else. Does anyone have proof of this, or is this kind of like 30 pages of criticizing Crown for haveing a second set of horns they don't have? That would be pretty typical. Ya'll are priceless.
  12. Right. That has everything to do with the fans' opinions of the show design and rules changes and nothing to do with the economy or the unfavourable venue.
  13. Politically, the clarification was necessary. The reason why George gets all the heat is because he's the one playing the game the strongest. Option 1: Woodwinds get used a few times this year or next, and eventually get enough support to be incorporated into the real show. George gets what he wants. Option 2: Woodwinds get used a few times this year or next, and get booed out of the stadium until the rule is repealed. I imagine George will push for making the preshow judged again at that time, negating the rule allowing woodwinds. He's wanted a longer show for a few years now. George wins again. Option 2 is probably the more likely outcome and more likely intent, especially since it was mentioned that he put this rule out there along side making the preshow judged. My guess is that he figured the mere mention of woodwinds would scare the other directors into voting for the other, but I can't imagine he's unhappy with the opposite outcome.
  14. By "hung up," I mean that we've tried to move on to examples other than staff attire multiple times, and you keep ignoring all other examples to come back to this one.
