  1. Here ya go! 1. Bluecoats (by tenths!) - High brass and percussion 2. Cavaliers (getting there!) - High guard/visual 3. Cadets - High narration 4. Crown - improved drumline/funky uniforms though 5. Spirit - JUST under Crown by a "nose" 6. Glassmen - Not there yet!
  2. There's plenty of "bling" with the crystal jewels on the epilets, "cuff" style gauntlets, as well as the flap and the service badge. The reflective stripes on the coat should be very interesting in parking lots with headlights on them! I hope it's cool on the field at night with stadium lights too! Futuristic looking, without forgetting their past. Very classy look! Actually, they have put their police roots to the forefront. I wonder how many people actually confused the bluecoats with redcoats - as in revolutionary war??? Their music and drill, with the help of a great color guard, will really sell their direction with the uniform and help create their true identity! I applaud their vision and focus on their past, present, and future! I've seen it, I've heard it, and I can't wait for Annapolis! GO BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  3. Actually, the "glitter" in the helmet is glass (no joke)! Compliments of a special paint from a company I cannot disclose! Just dig it! p.s. - Just wait 'til you see the rest! GO BLOOOOOO!
  4. .....WRONG! BLUECOATS are the new star! You'll see...June 16th! They've been hiding, and secretive, etc. You'll have to trust me on this one. Lots of buzzzzz on this topic I can't begin to tell. See you in Annapolis! GO BLOOOOOO!
  5. Bluecoats are simply blowing me away! A true contender this year! Look out at Annapolis, MD! Go BLOOOOOO! p.s. - Don't look for any music online from them... it's not their style. But...June 16th...ahah!!!!
  6. I love pure specul_tion from _ll of the _bove. There _re those who h_ve seen _nd he_rd wh_t h_s come from the c_mps! W_tch out for..."CRIMIN_L"!!! GO BLOOOOOO!
  7. I'm not impressed...yet. I'm not sure the hype is matching what I'm hearing. We'll hear AND see soon enough. For a corps who still needs 3 trumpets and a tuba, and has gone from 1st to 5th place...you'll put it out there when you can. Attempting to regain ground is going to be tough this year. Best of luck.
  8. You're all going the wrong direction with this!... AND...you'll have to wait! p.s. - I told you so (Shh! Look out!)
  9. BLOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! for many reasons...you'll have to wait 'til the season starts! :)
  10. See... www.throwitdownthemovie.com ...coming summer of 2007!
  11. I want to see 10 Judges, two in each caption as listed above. Every judge gets 10 points...PERIOD. As in the Olympics, the high and low scores are thrown out. If this were the case last year, it would be interesting to see what the real outcome of corps placement would have been! But alas, not all judges carried the same score weight! Wouldn't THAT make for an interesting season of flip-flopping!
  12. Bluecoats wish to announce any news concerning their "new look" under their terms, and will be forthcoming when they are ready to present it to everyone.
  13. SHHHH! It's a secret! (soon to be revealed!)
  14. I vote for the corps who are remaining very quiet - not saying very much, but producing extraordinary shows as we speak. They're holding back, keeping chatter to themselves, waiting for the chance to surprise everyone with a production that is unexpected right from the "get-go". Let's put THAT list together!
  15. 1. Blue Devils - keeping secretive so far 2. Bluecoats - even after announcing show, keeping very quiet...big plans? 3. Cadets - will be stronger again after a disappointing season last year 4. Phantom - more of the same...very good, but season #2 of similar style 5. Santa Clara - make a surge...ready for west coast championships 6. Cavies - loose stride with Billy Joel...especially after last year's GE package 7. Crown - another strong showing...much improved drumline 8. Blue Knights - loose the edge this year to crown 9. Spirit - new show concept jumps them up in placement 10. Glassmen - make another run after a great season last year 11. Boston - lose a step after an o.k. battle last year 12. Madison - if they're lucky, will battle for last place...many challengers! 13. Colts - will challenge again for 12 14. Troopers - welcome back...almost make the top 12 shy by 1-2 points 15. Mandarins - another strong season...show concept we've seen before 16. Crossmen - young corps, may take a while to rebound from move Good Luck to all, and may everyone have a banner year!
  16. Apparently you don't understand how the game is played. Actually, Bluecoats are right on track as THEY have planned it. You'll have to be patient...(The Excitement Builds!) "On the field from Canton, Ohio, performing their 2007 program entitled "__________" please welcome THE BLUECOATS! BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Can you feel it? :)
  17. Over the weekend I watched a band competition where one of the bands used Bluecoats "Caravan" show, which they purchased through their arranger. It was, of course, watered down, and they even attempted to use some of their drill moves...probably right off the DVD! At least in this case, it wasn't pretty, and a feeble attempt to recreate a show (almost in its entirety!) to sound and look like the Bluecoats. In other words, there was no creativity by their director to be original at all. I'm not knocking the arrangement or the sale thereof, but the band director and his staff for their lack of finding something that may help them move to a new musical plateau. And yes, in this case "Marching Band IS NOT Drum Corps! Jeeeesh! I hate when this happens! <**>
  18. Anyone out there, please tell me when the DCI Staff meeting with corps directors happens...Usually after that point, some resemblance of a tour schedule develops for public consumption. Since the tour ends in California, I'm expecting some changes especially with the last two or three weeks of the tour. Trying to take summer vacation to follow corps around should prove to be interesting with the big finish in the Rose Bowl! And yes, I already have 6 - 50 yard line row 48 3-Day Super Tickets ready to go for that event (My wallet cried that day!). Now I must figure out how much more money I want to spend to watch other shows, or get in to watch free with some week of volunteering with the corps. Fill me in!
  19. 1. Tell us who you plan to march with in 2007, and 2. the reasons you chose them. Do not elude to any other corps, or include any slams. Obviously, tryouts are pending, so don't go there! Example: 1. Bluecoats 2. They've positively been moving upward, they're among the most inexpensive corps to join, and they apparently have the right staff in place to possibly break into the top 3. I'm interested! Next!
  20. I love all the "Armchair Directors" guestimating what Bluecoats might and must do to "win" or "bump into the top 3"! It shows that people are watching and waiting for something to happen. I'm sure those on the "inside" will remain quiet about their ideas of direction for 2007 into the November camp. Sooo, only those insiders and those that make the first camp with the intent of making the corps will have any glimps of future plans. Yes, new uniforms are coming, and many other unknowns will happen to once again make the corps stand out among the elite in Division 1! It's going to be a VERY exciting year! GO BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  21. If I had the choice of being in a corps for the 2007 season, Bluecoats would be my choice hands down! If someone's looking for the most positive staff and members... this isTHE place to be! GO BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  22. Too many musically uneducated NUTS out there! "You can't fix STUPID!"
  23. Turn off your eyes, and open your ears! It all starts with the MUSIC! IF you listen to what everyone played with your eyes closed, you might have heard some really great musical moments...some corps with more musicality than others...some very percussion oriented...some more melodically oriented...and some with hints of both. There are way too many people NOT LISTENING! It's the music that drives what you are seeing. Some coordinators obviously do a better job than others in field design based on their vision of what they want the music to portray. In addition, it's up to the musicians/performers to make this vision work with their best abilities. Scoring, therefore is the basis of what is being played, then seen. Judges must rate these two factors together based on level of difficulty paired with the execution of the player/performers...not an easy task! .....I love drum corps judges .....we are all wannabees!
  24. I was BLOOOOING! "And in 5th place, "The CA..BLOOOOOOO!" I immediately stopped writing down scores and went nuts! Bluecoats EARNED this placement as the judges saw fit...AND... This was the first time in about 13 years that a corps broke through the top 4 that hasn't already been there! - - - a big "win" for a rising corps! Congratulations Bluecoats! p.s. - I don't BOO anybody! I know how hard all those kids work out there, and I don't care who their corps directors or show designers names might be! They're ALL great! Congratulations on a great season, one and all!
  25. I think we need to throw out the high and low scores like they do in the Olympics!
