  1. Really....how can you not be on time for goodness sake! You are a World Class, Mega Super Corps and you can't get a show on/off the field on time. Big ups for the Judge!
  2. Why di I see a Memo going out on Monday to all Judges, Stop Reading DCP Stop Talking to People that don't have a DCI Shirt on
  3. Nice Job RAIDERS! What a difference a week makes !
  4. Without a doubt one of the best recaps of the season, everyone was given what they deserved. This is how judging should be EVERYNIGHT. Look at those numbers and placments for every corps, it shows me that the panel was listening and watching EVERYTHING tonight. Great Job!
  5. I still think SCV could catch Cadets by finals. There is no questions that the Cadets run a fine program, with or without all the Hopkins drama, but they just seem to be lacking something to get back to being a steady placement corps. 2005- 1st 2006 -5th 2007- 2nd 2008- 5th 2009- 3rd 2010- ?
  6. Awesome Job by the Panel tonight, widespread numbers all over the place, corps got what they deserved, rather than having numbers line up one by one just due to placement. Perfect example was Phantom's Drum Score and thier final placement, I love seeing these kinds of numbers and spreads for all the corps, in a way it validates alot of questions for me.
  7. I brought this up last week in another thread, What the difference with this thread topic and a judge being a Vic Firth or Pro Mark artisit, yet he is judging Percussion at show, Regional or Finals? You have to draw a fine line and stick to it.
  8. If Cadets fell as low as 6th, would they still be G7 worthy?!?!?!?
  9. How about you got to yea.org and ask him yourself
  10. It's not all about the tour, that plays a part, but like some have already said, maybe there should be a different way to get seeded into this show if you are not going to attend the first major regional of the year. This just seems too easy to get a good spot.
  11. Ditto...... Just don't know what the direction of this corps is anymore, that's the odd part.
  12. I think if I were a lower tier ( last 6) corps I would be scratching my head right now. Pioneer, Crest, Manadrins, Cascades and Teal have all done between 12 and 15 shows. Each of these corps just wrapped up a long weekend with a Regional in Texas and thier placements were based off those numbers. Surf (which has done 8 shows and has not been in a Regional so far this season) did a very soft show in Virginia with no other World Class corps at that show. Due to thier score at that show, they have the best placement of the lower tier corps. I know people have complained about The Academy and how they travel and place in shows, so I guess this is a comparison of that scenario. Makes you wonder if ther should be an East Coast Show that would rate your corps against your peers rather than just be placed above them.
  13. I've always scratched my head with World Class Percussion Judge Steve Ulicny, He's a Pro Mark Artist and he's out judging drumlines. I just think if you are a judge, you should not be an artist with a company that provides equipment to bands and corps. It just leaves questions when someone wins by a tenth or so and you are a promark artist and a promark line wins. This is not jsut about him, it's about all judges and all the instrument makers.
  14. Yep, totally agree. As mentioned above, we hear so much on how some start up corps is going to change the world, have 40 horns and a food truck. 90% of the time, the equipment is for sale on ebay and there are alot of people asking questions. If you don't want this type of bad press, keep your press releases simple and clean, don't over hype, recruit correctly, have a stable staff and awesome support team and you'll do fine.
  15. I guess my question was, are the top 10 Open class corps all having a 1 week camp the week before they head out to wrap up the season. I know BDB is out doing shows and there are a few shows coming this week were open class corps are present. But I was just wondering if corps like 7th Regiment or Revo have a 6 day all day/night camp going on this week before they head out on the Open Class tour.
  16. I've always thought the sponsors had a lot to do with the way some of the corps used to place. While I still think they have a small amount of influence, it's not like it was years ago. I also thought that if you were a USSBA judge then the Cadets would do well when a DCI judge was a USSBA judge too. Let's face it, if you score them high, you get to make more money in the fall because they keep calling that judge to do band shows. That is not true one bit, I see it every night when reading sheets and seeing that a couple of judges on the panel are both DCI and USSBA judges, but the Cadets don't win or take that judges captions. I can remember marching and hearing that we would not do well that night because a certain judge was on the panel. You can't please everyone, that what judging is all about. I'd like to see a bi-partisant group of tenured adjucticators, judge, the judges. If there is a trend of obvious bad scoring from a certain judge, then this panel could re-train or even replace that judge for the rest of the season and put them either on a probation period till they get it right.
  17. Just another corps saying they would take over the world and end up not making it out on the field.....
  18. I think the Raiders start 5 straight days of Death Camp today. So while other corps can't practice due to schedules, work, facilities and other things, they will be setting every block, set by set, cleaning everything up and adding body movement to this years show and when hit the field by the end of the week, they will look very good. They have been doing this for years and it shows with thier finals placements every year. Goof luck to them and all the corps the rest of the season!
  19. I love the Random Draw, but that would kill slotting as we know it.
  20. You need to wait until these corps head out this week and next as they all head to Indy. Once corps start going up against each other on a steady basis, things will fall into place a little better. As for your hate for VK, we get it. This is why people laugh about the OC corps sometimes, it's this kind of baby stuff that shows some people still are not ready to be part of the big picture. The fact that VK is on the field is plenty of proof for me that they are trying to rebuild a proud organization. It may not happen for a few more years, but they are out there and they are doing more than a lot of other corps that have come and gone in this activity.
