Just an observation. Teal Sound is having a nice season for thier fist year in WC. The west cost regulars, Crest, Mandarins, Cascades are doing well, Surf seems to be down from Last Season and Pioneer, which seems to be better than last year, can't get out of thier own way, which I don't understand why and could be a whole other thread. Do you think Teal could make it past Thursday night of Championship week?

We always hear about not boing the kids, ya know what, they are doing a lot worse things on the bus rides every night and at rookie talent night, so don't worry about the kids. Plus, with the exception of the few corps stealing some 16 year olds from Open Class corps, the kids are a little older than that. There are plenty of 19-22 year olds out there every night saying and hearing a lot worse than a few people booing. Boo all you want, it is the fault of the G7 corps, not the judges. besides are your booing the kids or Hopkins, Gibbs and the rest of them? Boo enough and maybe they'll get the point too.

After looking at the DCI schedule I've noticed that out of the "lower" tier of corps, Pioneer, Mandarins, Pacific Crest, Cascades, Teal and Surf, Pioneer has more opportunities than most of these corps. By doing more shows, hearing more judges tapes and practicing more, this should improve thier placement while on tour. I would think if you are doing 26-27 shows in a season compared to something like the 16 the Surf are doing, you should capitalize more on the chances you have to become better each night. I would think all the extra exposure would create more opportunites.

It's pretty easy to sit here every night and root for the Cadets, Crown, BD, Madison, Bluecoats, Cavies and any other 10 corps. It's also easy to sit here and guess who is going to win it all, but here's a question, one that takes some guts to predict and without worrying about stepping on anyone's toes. Who comes in DEAD LAST this year? There has been talk about some of the Thursday night corps getting better, some staying even, some loosing more members to G7 corps and some just having a bad recruiting and retention off season. Out of the corps that go home on Thursday during finals week, who do you think will have a worse than expected year? Nothing against the kids, they all work hard, just look at Pioneer, they seem to have had a great off season and have put together and more competitve corps this year, I expect them to have a nice season that could lead to bigger and better things. But who do you think will just flat out be the last place corps this year???????

Lame is an understatement...One of the many area's that DCI fails in is expanding the market. Why FJM would pay for this is ridiculas, it's nothing but a self made shameless plug. Everybody knows there are a few major uniform companies out there and for the most part, they all do a great job. I can't see a band or corps director saying they would buy uniforms because they say the FJM logo on the DCI scoreboard. The marketing think tank at DCI could have done a better job with this, they should have shown the actual hits the scoreboard page gets and they could have easily gotten a different sponsor that may have brought in another different sponsor, this creating a new market for both the advertiser and DCI.

Surprises from Open Class Corps
CT-Horn replied to gametimeon50's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
Yep, I'm ashamed I am responding to your post. 25 horns would be great for this corps. Let's see how many hit the field and then we can discuss it then. -

You might want to go to thier web site www.raidersdbc.org and check out thier history and DCI World Championship Placements and DCI Title. Plus add in the fact that they are in constant battle for kids from 3-4 East Coast World Class corps and at least 3 DCA corps, I'd say they are a little more than nothing special. -

So what do they have 25 horns now? -
I think this is the most I have ever seen WORLD CLASS corps begging for members this late in the year. I mean yeah, we usually see the bottom corps looking to fill spots, but Cadets,Troopers,Spirit,Phantom,Colts,Vangaurd and I'm sure there are a few more here that have been posting on DCP for last minute members. I don't know, maybe if we cut the 150 number down to 135 or even 140, maybe that would help a little?

I just find it interesting. All parties mentioned in this, yet another new DCA corps, is destined to be a mini corps at best anyway. You guys feel you can just start up a corps or in this case a number of corps because you had some success with a indoor guard in Bethlehem PA? Maybe you can focus all of these efforts into one half decent Class A corps, combine all the names and put something out there. I also wonder if you think because of the recent success of the Hurricanes, that this is a good time to start a new corps up. It took the Hurcs many years to get back to where they are today and the last thing they need is a distraction in thier rebuilding efforts. I think one of two of this new team was somehow involved with the Hurcs at one point too? Maybe I'm wrong on that. I could see if a group like the RI Matadors wanted to come back, then that would be one thing. But the Enfield Centurions? I remember them as a Class A corps in the Northeastern Circuit, with no more than 50 kids back in the 1970's -
