  1. MADISON SCOUTS should get 10 points for CROWD APPEAL!!! WAKE UP DCI - and SEE WHAT MADISON SCOUTS DO - FOR THE AUDIENCE...Not the judges...THE PAYING PUBLIC....CROWD APPEAL!!! GO GO MADISON SCOUTS!
  2. 4th Prediction: 1. Blue Devils 2. Carolina Crown 3. Cadets 4. Blue Coats 5. Cavaliers 6. Santa Clara Vanguard 7. Phantom Regiment 8. Boston Crusaders 9. Blue Knights 10. Blue Stars 11. Madison Scouts 12. Glassmen I will bet on these! It was a great season!!!
  3. I have a hunch, BK will open up the spread alittle. It took alot of guts for those judges to put BK over SCV, and it happened! Congrats to those judges...Hopefully ALL CORPS will be motivated to not worry about the scores - and JUST PERFORM the HECK out of their programs!
  4. Blue Devils have shown over the years, the BINGO can really do wonders for a drum corps. In the EAST COAST - Drum Corps are NOT ALLOWED to use BINGO as a method to raise funds. Maybe the BLUE DEVILS should take some lessons from the CADETS on these issues. Cadets have to work hard for their money. Maybe it is about time - Blue Devils should work harder for their money. Lets see what happens to their STAFF. (lebron james) See if it is all about the money - or where you really want to be...Hmnn....
  5. It amazes me, that Blue Devils can be a part of their own G7 for THEIR SAKE, but they want us to also do their Dirty work for THEIR SAKE too. Hmnn....
  6. Blue Knights have a very fine corps! Santa Clara Vanguard has a lot of "TRADITION". I am a SCV Alumni - so i have to say - I want to see SCV Win every year, however Bartok? Congrats Blue Knights! "Lock the door, and throw away the key"
  7. SCV - 10th...LOCK THE DOOR, and THROW AWAY THE KEY!!!
  8. Drum Corps is dying...Might as well enjoy it the way it is now - even if the music is picked for the educator and NOT the average audience member.

  10. I am glad to see in your opinion that Fiedler is preparing the Vanguard for future success. I just remember this, Since they hired Poulan, they havent beaten the Cadets nor Devils once.
  11. All of SCV Alumni are waiting to see Santa Clara Vanguard rise back up to the top. They were at one time "Corps of the Decades" - 1970's winning more shows than any other corps during that time. As an alumni that marched during that time, we are wishing much success for the current Vanguard members. Just wondering if Fiedler is making any difference?
  12. 3rd prediction for DCI FINALS 2010 1. THE CADETS 2. BLUE DEVILS 3. CAROLINA CROWN 4. BLUE COATS 5. SANTA CLARA VANGUARD 6. CAVALIERS 7. PHANTOM REGIMENT 8. BLUE STARS 9. BOSTON CRUSADERS 10. MADISON SCOUTS 11. GLASSMEN 12. BLUE KNIGHTS

  15. They have a SURPRISE ENDING. They are now going to yell: POULAN instead of Vanguard.
  16. I think MOST DRUM CORPS are boring these days... I just came back from a show in EWING, NJ last night. The talent level of these corps is AMAZING! TOTALLY AMAZING! however, when i asked my wife, did she like it, she said "NO" ...There was not 1 corps that played a tune that anyone could recognize. It was all scales runs, Loud pops, the alot of percussion, with every color guard looking the same with their dancing rifles, and dancing sabres, and dancing flags. They should all be ballerinas, not guard members.... As far as Bartok - It is not that different from anyone else..To me - it is ALL THE SAME - BORING for the average fan, interesting for the musician and judge, and the younger generation has NO INTEREST IN IT AT ALL. They better keep the talent levels high, otherwise...Drum Corps will die for sure!
  17. I have some thoughts on the EWING show tonight. First - Spirit (icon show is starting to grow on me) - Horn Line is staged pretty nicely throughout the show, so when impacts are needed they are there. The color guard outlines the horn line maybe a little too much, but add quite a bit of color. Drum line was pretty agressive. I had doubts of them last week, but i think they will stay above Crossmen. Crossmen - The thoughts of Pat Methany had everyone psyched, however, i think they are really missing the boat. Matt Krempasky's charts made alot more sense to me with this show. It seems like the show, is not really paced right, it is alot of the same throughout. Tonight was not their night. Phantom Regiment was on 3rd. Drum Line is very, very good. When they play they are clean, crisp. The visual program looked like there were 5-6 holes still in the show to fill which was pretty distracting. Color guard adds alot of dance. They end the show ala Santa Clara Vanguard - soft ending pic with flower. Middle of the DCI pack. Boston Crusaders - Very Big corps - 70th anniversary year. All spots, except 1 contra looked filled. There was a big chair on the field - in the middle of everything. Their marching and visual program is one of the tops - very exposed horn book, which was evident a few times, especially in articulations of the sopranos. Their Battery seemed to over play the brass line. I think they can flip flop with Phantom each week. Blue Coats - Most aggressive corps of the night! = If this was the old tick system, they would of won the show. Very talented, very clean, they are almost ready for championships. Very good winter. Carolina Crown - Lot of innovation - great sounding horn line...A few bad releases late in the show. The Tenors seem to drown out the horn line a few times during the show. I feel that their color guard is very tasteful. The Visual stuff that is written can go very far. The only thing that scares me, is if they will be allowed to try to max it out. They seemed very controlled, but too much control can also be very boring, especially after the Bluecoats. Want to see Crown go all the way. They need to be more aggressive. (loved Nimrod) Jersey Surf - Patriotic Show - using many unique arrangements
