June 6...the day after the last day of school...it sucks that I get out later than last year.....now I have to miss the 1st week of everydays

Bump. May Camp is coming up soon! May 23rd-26th....I believe move-ins are during the following week for all those who can make it, some people are still finishing up school. Thanks!

I think personally that you can have a very a good feeling of accomplishment from either marching in a top 6 corps or marching in a non-finalist corps....you're still working to put on the best show you can.......I also think you should go where you're heart tells you with this one......but at least if you don't make you're dream corps try somewhere else....you're gonna have a much better chance at making that corps with a year of experience than sitting home all summer.

Today is the day for the audition/rehearsal camp in Florida.....even if you don't wish to Pioneer this is a great chance for a little taste of what Drum Corps is all about. I urge those who have not thought of Pioneer as an option due to their placement, and didn't make the corps they auditioned for and are staying home for the summer, to at least check it out....Pioneer is a great experience and they WILL TEACH YOU everything you need to know to march and play at a world class level. We have a great staff this year........and congratulations also to Donny Allen (Brass Caption Head) on being inducted into the Bugler's Hall of Fame this year......hope to see a decent turnout today....

last summer in Pasadena someone broke into the gym we were staying at and stole like everything that was plugged into the walls.....cell phones, cameras, ipods, etc...... I am so glad I brought all my valuables on the bus....but it was really unsettling to see my suitcase and clothes had been rummaged through and other peoples stuff strewn around the gym in their sleeping area......after that I am never leaving anything of value in the sleeping area while the corps is not there....

I believe the April camp is when the numbers will be set....thats all I know as of right now...and Saturday, April 19th is the date for our next Pioneer audition/rehearsal camp at Lemon Bay High School in Englewood, FL. Our new Brass Tech, Oscar Escobar, will be holding brass auditions from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 PM. edit:fixed date

MEMBERS ARE NOT FORCED TO ATTEND CHURCH. I am am sure that if anyone has a problem with it they would be allowed to not attend. To clear things up....the atmosphere marching at Pioneer is nowhere near anything that would ever considered cult behavior as your post seems to be implying. If your thinking about marching with Pioneer this summer, please don't let this turn you off of the corps. Don't let the fact that Pioneer has placed at the bottom of the heap for the last few years deter you, we are working hard to make Pioneer a bigger, better corps. Don't miss your chance to march this summer. We have brand new horns and relatively new uniforms, and we just got a new set of marching percussion. -Better Every Day!

We do not take off entire days for church. We would go in the morning, and rehearsal generally started about an hour or 2 later than usual, but we didn't go to church every single Sunday.

As far as I know, every Sunday we go to church if our schedule permits.

The S.O.P.Y forms are very easy to use, you could actually just mail them out to a bunch of people because the form comes as a letter.....last time I checked there is also a scholarship opportunity offered by the Royal Airs but I am not sure about that one........... p.s. if anyone would like to sponsor me for the summer I would greatly appreciate it. Tour fees are around 1700 I believe...

they use Bb and F Dynasty horns I believe.....

At my high school there is a 'fair share' you have to pay for each ensemble you are in. I am not sure how much exactly cause I usually have money in my account, but I have to pay symphonic band, marching band, and jazz band....its not too much and we are a small school. The thing is that we do a lot of fundraisers where if you show up and its documented you get money put into your account that goes toward paying your fees.

Tell him come down...check out http://pioneer-corps.org/ I couldn't tell you how auditions are happening this year, I don't know of anything for sure and even then it shouldn't matter, march anywhere you can but tell him he should look into Pioneer is he's interested. Pioneer is a great organization and even though there hasn't been the same type of vet retention as other programs but you feel welcome from day one. so good luck!

drum corps is an educational learning experience not only in the music/performing aspect but in life lessons, organization, time management, dependability etc.... From what I've heard people also have fun doing it :P...but yeah anyways it is an activity more for the performers and former marching members as well as people who have an interest in drum corps that didn't/won't march....just my thoughts...this may have been said already, but i didnt have time to read all the sracastic remarks and whatnot....peace. hoping for a great season next summer!

I personal don't mind anything new going on with drum corps, except for the over usage of voice, and IMO the cadets show would've been my favorite, if they hadn't overused some narration at points...like right after the opening hit <**> ....but anyways I'm getting off track, I didn't mean this to be about that whole narration issue......but the amplified pits make the whole educational part of playing in the front ensemble more worth while, seeing as they can use proper technique and not have to "bang" on the instruments to compensate for the volume of the rest of the corps behind them.........I also think that raising the max. member limit should not go up anymore....before long the field will look too cluttered and you get into the whole issue of some corps trying to "hide" their mistakes and all that.......remember this is all an opinion about how I myself personally feel. peace

well, it's a nice idea, but idk how that could actually work out, what happens when all the small local shows that people look forward to seeing disappear? Then that support goes away, but it might, I'm not sure i completely understand you propostition anyways...
