  1. They won the Visual Performance judge all 3 nights of Championships (.4 lead in quarterfinals, .1 in semis, .1 in finals). They were .2 behind Blue Devils in Visual Ensemble all 3 nights, and .5 behind in guard in quarters and semis, and .3 behind in finals. They were .3 behind in Visual total in semis, .2 in Finals, and they WON visual in quarterfinals. So to answer your question, yes.
  2. Tarpon and Blue Stars share/used to share: Frank Sullivan (music designer for both) Kevin Ford (Head director at Tarpon, used to write drill for both) Robert Barfield (assistant director at Tarpon, Visual Consultant for BS) Johnny Zollo (Visual Caption head @ Tarpon, Instructor with Blue Stars)
  3. Yes, actually. http://southwind.southwindalumni.org/index.php/2012
  4. Bah, I should have taken a picture of the mailing before I unceremoniously shredded it.
  5. They claim that all their dates have been pushed back/selling off equipment due to a "new partnership stating that they must use specified brands for equipment." They also claimed that they would announce who the new partnership was two weeks ago...
  6. I wouldn't be surprised to see a show come back to Illinois State in 2013 (oops, 2014) after the new press box/suites/stands are built on the east side of the stadium. (Side note: I'd bet dollars to donuts that ISU was the only stop on tour with a press box off center by 10 yards.)
  7. Nice to see they're deleting public comments on their Facebook page now.
  8. IIRC, Finals mp3s don't get posted until after the next season is over due to the CD's being offered.
  9. Not to beat a dead horse, but is this the same Chris Nagy who "ran" Eclipse of Indiana a few years back? Also, $400 for camp?! Are you kidding?
  10. Unfortunately, Citations announced today they will remain inactive. http://www.citations.org/
  11. So, let me get this straight: You want every school district in the US to have a drum corps? There's probably ~7,500 school districts in the United States (879 in my state of Illinois alone), and that doesn't include private schools, home schooled, charter schools, and universities. Oh, and how is Chicago Public Schools going to get one drum corps out of the 500,000+ students in their school district?
  12. New: Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine-Eric Whitacre
  13. William Mason from Ohio did that. It was really ingenious...wonder if BOA'll allow manipulation of the curtains past this year.
  14. The Cadets: "12.25" http://www.yea.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=20133&news_iv_ctrl=1002
  15. Time restraints? What? It's a minute longer-big deal. Blue Knights clock in at 13:54, Boston is at 13:10.
  16. This is the CD's. They start off with the guitar riff/We Will Rock You from the Bass Drums. It skips the singing of We Will Rock You and Rhianna, the playing of Sweet Child o' Mine, and Ironman is gone too. It cuts to the Hendrix riff right before the announcement.
  17. They sound really well done. However...Crown and Cavaliers are not the full shows. Crown is missing about 85% of the preshow, and Cavaliers show seems to have all of the Nature Boy prerecorded stuff gone.
  18. http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=e036bb58-e95e-4e9b-8f04-28b6081f8e94 World Championship Prelims, Thursday, Aug. 11 – 6,903 World Championship Semifinals, Friday Aug. 12 – 12,351 World Championship Finals, Saturday, Aug. 13 – 17,363 The attendance for the three-day event totals 36,617, which does not include corps and staff members who entered the stadium after performances with wristbands or staff/VIP credentials. “Finals-night attendance this year grew 9.2 percent from last season,” said Dan Acheson, Executive Director of Drum Corps International. “Given the difficult economic climate being experienced by many drum corps families and fans, we are pleased with the growth of our largest event.
