  2. This is a GREAT horn... and he is not lying when he said that he took care of it!
  3. Pending DCA Evaluation: Lake Effect will be marching on G horns this season.
  4. Looking for G or Bb? I have 4 Chrome 3 Valve converted G Contras that I am willing to part with.
  5. Could you send me pics/info on the Flugal? LakeEffectCorps@yahoo.com Thanks!
  6. With my experience playing Euph, I know that if I rested it on my body or had any contact with my second valve slide it would slightly bend after a few times and interrupt the valve casing. Not by anyway do I recommend this or am I an expert, but I find a SLIGHT tug on the slide away from the casing (just like pulling out the slide) would do the trick and it wouldn't act up until I bumped it again. But I dont know this horn personally, so I dont know if it is an error etc with the horns.
  7. Do you rest it on the 2nd valve slide at all? Against your body, on the ground, etc?
  8. Thanks! Please pass the word, we are looking to branch out our membership to Ohio and New York!

  10. I know and I agree that it sounded fine... wait, I thought they were the best of the night. You can say its field conditions all you want because you have to have a reason. You can get a corps off the field by crying lightning, but the truth is that all you wanted is your corps off the field because your guard couldnt spin in the wind that just picked up to over 20 Miles per hour. Call it what you want... I just got wet one day while performing and watched another show the next day wet disappointed.
  11. After being at Kingston and playing in the rain... then coming home to Erie where corps refused to play in the rain due to the electronics... think it will be very interesting!
  12. All of the shows from the Boston show for DCA (Cabs, Bucs, ES, Hurcs) are on the forbidden site. Call it as it is... but I hate slotting.
  13. Statesmen were using this last night and at practice today. They replace horns on a piece by piece basis when they are available... many members own their own horns also.
  14. There is a corps that is trying to start up in Erie, PA called Lake Effect. Alot of marching members from this area always made the trip (or still do) to Empire Statesmen, Crusaders, Brigs, or Reading. The whole concept of starting a corps in an area is the fact that they know what DCI is here, but no one really knows DCA exists... so its all about the education of the circuit, activity, and to let everyone know we are here.
  15. Ah makes sense, but every instance of the note could change based on what the chord structure is - so it would almost be easier just to play another parts note to make sure it fits because it will be on a note to note, chord by chord basis.
  16. Just noticed this, and I was going to make the same comment - same note... same fingering The second line G# is an ugly note for the 2v (or equivalent) horn without a third valve. The simplest solution would to alter the chord structure or dispersement. If it was possible, you could see if the inversion would help by playing the G# (Ab) first valve above the staff or fixing the chord structure for that section. This would be my suggestion as the G# played second valve is the true value combination for the F# directly below (first space.) Sadly, there is no true alternate fingering for this note - the true fun starts above with the E series down (hope I didnt confuse you). As long as the D# is not the space below the staff you can play it (below the staff cannot on 2v without serious conflicts in tone/pitch) you can play the D# (Eb) on the 4th Line as second valve. That is the normal valve combination for that note in its true range, 2/3 is the alternate fingering at that point.
  17. Anyone ever think it is because you are telling everyone that it is "cheaper" due to the fact that you can resale the horn lines. It is never good business to tell people that what they are spending money on will have a better resale price because then their spending plan will have more income to use? Other non-profits like churches deal with this all the time, if they have a part time pastor - the congregation gives less because they know that the expense is down. I also agree with the statement above from RayH.... is it really about the fans anymore?
  18. Everything is ready for tomorrow, hope to see you there!
  19. Less than a week, time is flying by! Lake Effect Drum and Bugle Corps
  20. Lake Effect Drum and Bugle corps is proud to announce the Brass and Percussion Caption Heads and arrangers. We are very pleased to have such energetic and talented people for our inaugural 2011 season. Chris Wise, Brass Caption Head and Arranger Chris's drum corps involvement started with several years on lead soprano with the Empire Statesmen Drum and Bugle Corps including their 5th DCA world championship in 2004. He has performed on lead trumpet with both Colts in 2007, and the 2008 DCI Champions, Phantom Regiment. Chris has taught trumpet lessons out of his private studio and instructed local marching bands for several years. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Mercyhurst College and will begin his Master of Music degree in Performance next fall. Currently Chris is on the visual staff with the Empire Statesmen and Brass Caption Head/Brass Arranger for the Lake Effect Drum and Bugle Corps. Jesse Glenn, Percussion Caption Head and Arranger After following various percussion endeavors throughout high school, Jesse marched White Sabers 2007 (tenors) ,2008 (tenors), 2010 (snare), and he plans on marching 2011 on snare. Jesse marched Presque Isle Percussion Ensemble in 2007 and 2008. Jesse is also going to be playing vibes in the 2011 Fusion Indoor line from Erie, PA. Jesse’s other experiences include playing djembe in drum circles and drum set with friends and Penn State Behrend's Jazz Band. Jesse’s ultimate goal is for everyone to feel alive and enthusiastic when drumming regardless of whatever might be happening when they don't have sticks in their hands.
