I can't believe that this thread is up to 10 pages! I have witnessed some absurd discussions on DCP, but this thread is on a level of its own. There is no story here folks; the Cadets are trying to recruit a freaking horn player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure the good folks at the Cadets are quite amused by this nonsense. Talk about a non-story, I mean really. Are you kidding me!
-
A few corps behind them did not have the level of demand the Cadets had
-
Actually, I'm not touchy at all. Just amused by your hypocrisy, and I don't like seeing people ridiculed without facts to back it up. You would be well served to get some facts before you start trashing people. And by the way, I am not friends with Hopkins (although I do respect the time & effort he contributes to this little fringe activity). Additionally, I am friends with Eric and I bet he is being more mature about this decision than you are. Care to speculate some more?
-
Jeff, you are correct, YEA is in need of some better PR people. With that being said, this does not make it right that there are those that love to speculate with little facts to back up their argument. If this was any other organization, most would be of the opinion that the decision was made in the best interest of the organization and all involved. Thanks for you thoughts Jeff

[quote name='BigW' timestamp='1329333797' post='3119956' As much as I dislike a lot of what YEA!/Hopkins has been doing and pulling- I hope they field the corps, I hope they compete, I hope they put up a heck of a fight! I think the main issue is- and I'm sure you know Eric, as do likely thousands of us in Bands and Corps that he's taught over 30 years-- The guy is tough, intense, a competitor, and also a great educator, hard worker and good guy that most of us deeply respect. He taught ME how to teach movment and gave me the tools. Many of us know people who have worked for YEA!, and they all don't last, and there are good reasons they left, and it's not on their end of it that's the problem. I may well be adding Eric to the list of good folks YEA! has jacked around. Hop just keeps making it longer.... If you would take the time to read the entire anouncement from Hopkins, you would notice that Hopkins said he was not going to discuss the specifics regarding his decision in public out of respect. You are speculating about something without knowing the facts behind this decision. No one besides the folks on the inside of Cadets2 know the specifics of why this decision was made. If you would take the time to read & comprehend the anouncement by Hopkins, you would see that Hopkins was very respectful to Eric and said some very complimentary things about him. It is amazing that this speculation fest has gotten this far without knowing most of the facts regarding this decision. On second thought, it doesn't surprise me, this is DCP after all. I have spent many years around the Cadets and have had numerous friends there and I can assure you the Cadets are a classy organization that does not have the habit of jacking their people around as you put it. And by the way, I am a personal friend of Eric's and have been for over 20 years. You need to find something else to speculate about!

Cadets 2003 without a doubt. They rocked this song with content rather than how loud can we play and for how long

Cadets2 question...

You can't be serious, right? Oh nevermind...not worth the frustration! -
I have the Cadets 2011 tour DVD and I think it something that all drum corps fans would really enjoy. It is basically an inside look at the season from spring training through to the announcement of the scores at championships. It is extremly professional and well done and it is quite poignant. I have shown the DVD to friends of mine that don't follow drum corps and they really enjoyed the almost 2 hour long presentation. Great keepsake for all drum corps fans (especially for those that follow the Cadets!).

I was a huge fan of the Bridgemen back in the day, however, the Bridgemen Alumni is hard for me to watch. They don't even come close to the level of performance and excellence that was the Bridgemen. The Bridgemen Alumni have no entertainment value for me; sorry, just my opinion. They are better suited for the DCA venue and have little to offer after watching the best DCI has to offer.

Cadets...they really hit a home run this year! Great show concept, great drum corps. Most dissapointed with Crown this year; just didn't do it for me

Why _____ Should Have Won
dans replied to The Dreaming Tree's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
The timing of this post is the problem; drum corps fans have several months ahead of them for these type of discussions. It was clearly disrespectful of the new champions to start this thread hours after the scores were announced. The Cadets worked their collective rear ends off to accomplish the victory, at least let them savor the victory for a couple of days before the "my corps should have won" bickering starts. Congratulations Cadets, don't let anyone rain on your parade. FHNSAB! -
Congratulations to the Cadets; well deserved win!

Love the Cadets! This is the 27th year my wife and I have been Cadets fans; there have been some rough times for us Cadets fans in recent years. This one feels real good and was well worth the wait. I just had a feeling at the winter camps this year that there was something special brewing! Thanks to the DCI judging community for having the integrity and courage to recongnize the corps that clearly had the best package in 2011. Great job Cadets; can't wait to get the blu-ray's and my Cadets "10th" championship shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FHNSAB! -
Why The Cadets Do Not Win Tonight...

BD makes some last minute changes to their show and decide to do some playing while moving. This increases their current dominance of the visual caption by enough to put them in 1st
