  1. Exactly, rehearsal next day at the high school is open
  2. Looked like they utilized the whole field. Props are used tastefully, they added to the production, didn't overwhelm it. Color guard had group features, and also were interspersed inside the horn structures. I don't think the horn line played back field once, they are staged perfectly. I really think the talk after Thursday night will be how the horn line talent has risen.
  3. Saw the performance tonight and the Corps will definitely be knocking on the door for the fourth and hopefully the third spot. Everyone knows this won't be easy, but I firmly believe Boston will take down one of the heavyweights by Allentown August 3rd. The guard will be as good as last year, the horn line talent and book is far superior from last year. Someone else can comment on their drums, not my forte. Looking forward to seeing them go up against Bluecoats and Crown, not something I would have said 3 years ago. It is an upfront, in your face show. The staging is brilliant and the horn line is up front numerous times. Will please both the casual fan and longtime followers. Looking forward to Thursday night.
  4. Went through about 4 electric razors in 12 weeks one summer!!!
  5. \ I was there in 1983, we didn't come to the aid of any other corps but our own. As the horn line marched off to find a place to warm up, they passed the projects where a young thug asked a girl horn player to blow him instead of the horn. She told him to F##K off. He went back and got a number of gang members and went searching. The drum line, which was smaller than the horn line (not by much) took the brunt of the attack when they recognized the uniforms. the drum line had a girl was 10 years old. They instructors came running and eventual sirens started, so they ran. The injuries were bruises and scratches, we were very lucky that was it. To be honest, most of the kids ran, I didn't blame them, these animals came with pipes. But for a few older vets, the drum line was very young. All the instructors and management were mostly alumni, thank god they all ran into the fray, instead of out. I was still shaking as the corps was performing lol.
  6. You don't have to go down that main drag all the way when you get off the highway, there is a road that is parallel to that, take any side street down and they all take you to the school. Dunkin donuts is a bit off a ride though!
  7. I know I'm getting sucked in to this, but I have been around the Boston Crusaders for over 50 years, I have friends who have marched in Alliance, 27th, Royal Brigade, Blessed Sacrament, North Star, Pembroke Imperials, Rockland Defenders and so on, and I have never heard that phrase that Guardling used regarding the term BAC. I have a feeling He made that up, along with most of what he posts here from his Mom's basement. While I do cry occasionally ( which I certainly will on our 75th), it will be for joy, and never because I've been behind anyone. Looking forward to a great celebration this week with family and friends!
  8. The Morgan House in downtown Lee Ma. is an excellent restaurant!
  9. Pound for pound.... kids....staff,,,, organization... listen to 25 Still Alive)
  10. It was a very good year for drum corps, a lot of good shows, another year this show might have placed 8th? Still around the 7th thru 9th area they have been placing in recent years.
  11. Good catch, there was a problem with that part of the sound system, and she wasn't miked Friday night.
  12. Well said!!! Watch the show, these kids are moving and playing constantly right up until their ballad. They worked their a## off all year and gave 3 thrilling performances finals week. I was there Sat. night and the crowd rose and gave them a rousing standing ovation at the end. The kids felt it, and though the score didn't reflect their hard work, they felt something no announcement of a score could. It was truly heart warming, and I was happy for the organization, and especially the kids. In a weird way, many members grew more this year as Crusaders than ever before. Lost in all this, in my opinion, we go into our 75th anniversary year stronger than any other anniversary year in our long history. BAC.... Building A Champion!!!!
  13. I'm so happy now that they didn't slaughter a pig on the field, much harder to clean up than baby powder!!
  14. Hello Ghost, In my opinion, section 200 is the best section for overall effect. The higher the better in this section, then maybe the lower 300's. In the 100's the sound is excellent, but you lose too much visual. As you go higher, I don't think the sound is that great. Again, just from my experience and from hearsay! I imagine you will get different opinions, but do buy them immediately after finals. They sell 3 day packages and I have found everyone very helpful when I have called. Good Luck
  15. Some of the best war stories are from surprising some of the toughest times. It was the worst of times , it was the best of times!!! That's why I appreciate every moment I see Boston on the field, knowing where we are, and especially never forgetting where we were..... Corps We Love.....
  16. First used at Allentown, nothing was said there. The confusion was that when it was used outside, DCI officials didn't pick up on it, and Boston was not penalized. They continued to use it until someone noticed it at prelims. Whether it was bought to the attention of DCI by another drum corps, or being indoors was much more noticeable, I don't know. Also was a rumor that a Lucas OIl employee noticed the powder and wasn't happy. Bottom line, the ball was dropped, and the corps has moved on.....
  17. Thought this was a misprint when I first saw it. Was this a concerted effort not to participate on Cadets part? Considering all their followers and alumni, I was sure Boston was in for a very close fight. Why the low total?
