  1. Also can start in the same place. As it says, email give@bluecoats.com to get information on specific needs. Then when you have a name and verified info, "If you are trying to sponsor a specific participant, please visit this link" Then you would specify the name and dollar amount in that Sponsorship section.
  2. Q: Where would one start for Bluecoats scholarships / sponsorships? A: https://bluecoats.com/give/scholarships
  3. I didn't go to finals Saturday but I was surprised at line length for Semis both times I used the gates: 3:30 and 7:30. It only approached 30 minutes, and not an hour, but here are my "Thoughts." We will probably never know if the issue lies with DCI or LOS or to what extreme. DCI has a very important relationship with LOS, the convention center and the folks that operate the facilities. That is how they ended up in Naptown to begin with. I would expect them to work on resolving the issues privately among themselves. Should DCI make a solo public statement that blatantly points fingers at LOS operators, I would read that to mean their relationship is on the brink of fracture. Also, I would never expect a facility the size and scale of LOS to make a joint statement with DCI admitting any fault. That's the dynamics. I am willing to give a bit of a pass this year. It is easy to forget that DCI missed an entire year of revenue in canceling the 2020 season. Depending on the industry, some businesses got a few months of dollars churned in 2020, and then things trickled through the rest year. DCI almost exclusively makes all of their money in the summer tour season. Either at the gate or in tour related sponsorships and giving. Then in 2021, a small number of corps did a micro-tour with attendance that you would expect on the back end of a pandemic. Low. That obviously affects the balance sheets. Then DCI had to try and rebound and support a full tour this year with what looks like record attendance at finals week using 2 years of nickels and dimes and tapping into any saved or loaned dollars. If they couldn't afford to pay LOS for premium staffing levels this year, I could understand. Also seemingly related to the pandemic, filling the job ranks in the lower tiers of pay has been a big issue nationally. It wouldn't surprise me if LOS has had trouble rebounding from the pandemic on those usher and ticket-scanner jobs. And in another twist, they suddenly started enforcing the clear-bag policy in full force this year, of all years. That was a lot of bag change and (as mentioned) scan change related chaos. Hopefully they are ready to take on the challenge after learning things with the new struggles that have developed on the backside of the pandemic.
  4. I marched with, or toured with, about at dozen. And knew a couple more personally that I didn't tour with. The entire crowd was quietly on their feet to honor that moment. Instant tears. By the time they got to the 50 my knees were so weak that I had to sit up on the back of my chair. I told my daughter next to me that I don't know how I'm going to do this. The poise my friends needed to perform after that ... I cannot say enough about them @bluecoats88 πŸπŸ’™ More than a few others lurking here. But when the show started it was just so ####### fun that the tears paused. My throat hurt the next morning from all of the screaming and cheering at LOS. As someone who has a 1991 penny, let me say that I am glad to call you a fellow member. Thank you Kevin. 6 words, indeed.πŸ’™πŸ
  5. The DCI rulebook linked above shows a January 2019 approval date for the "current" Props section. You would have to see the 2014 Prop section to know. That is, if a Props section even existed in 2014. If I am remembering correctly, the WGI prop height rules were established around 2017'ish.
  6. To be clear, I wasn't saying it is the exact OSHA definition. It is the specification that WGI has developed for their rulebook. I cannot vouch for any direct connection to OSHA standards.
  7. What kind of pyscho-killer would be contemplating CI while "in the moment?" I enjoy CI discourse and when it finally collapses in 25 years, I hope to be flooding this thread in mourning. But I am just speaking for myself.
  8. Defined as either a safety railing, a safety harness, or protective padding. Or any combination of the 3.
  9. If he was going without being seen, the least likely place to do that would have been the suites. Agreed with the consensus. He's toying with folks and was not there.
  10. Top 4 groups all have a shot at the Sanford this year. They've each had their moments on the top rung head-to-head this season. Been awhile since SCV has been this vulnerable.
  11. FWIW, this was the seated position of the crowd the entire show. Until it was over. Weird. Like it or not, you can't deny it is excellent.

  13. You're overly simplified language in describing this thread is both telling to me and insulting to survivors that are working advocacy within.
  14. In the activity and it's community, he no longer deserves any equity and should not get a free pass. The victims should be provided a safe environment in our activity, regardless of any sentence he has served. 2 different things. I'm not sure how to be more clear.
  15. That math equation is absurd. His contributions do not earn him free pass. I side with the victims on this. They should have a safe place in the activity. If that means it is at GH's expense, so be it.
  16. If you are out of free articles or refused because of ad block, I created an archive of the settlement article here. https://archive.ph/y1DKr
  17. I don't think it is for us to quibble about public vs private property, legal rights, etc. That's DCI's fight. It is up to us to pressure DCI into doing anything within it's realm to make a safe environment for those involved in the activity. They need to be trying everything, and if it turns out unenforceable by the courts, then that's on the courts, right? I know that @scheherazadesghost has pointed this out before, but many of us here are not the victims and whenever possible, we need to be hearing from them. I'm not sure if George's victims have ever been public on DCP, but at least one has publicly posted that she has tickets to take her child to the upcoming New Jersey show. She faces a horrible decision and she has said: Why should the victims have to potentially chose to stay away from the activity if they'd rather stay involved? If DCI doesn't make efforts to create a safe environment for them, what is the point?
  18. I guess what I wasn't making clear is that I would consider this to still be "on the beat." It is the same issues within adjacent, competitive, non-profit youth orgs. She is still open to taking information. The way in which it is covered by USA Today would be different than local Philly Inquirer (her previous employer) or a local Allentown news outlet (Jacci). But if she was ever to get enough to move forward with a large-scale, national piece, she and USA Today would do it. And we all know that she is sitting on more information that only needs a few people to officially to go on the record with.
  19. Tricia does the same kind of work but now at USA Today. She has been teamed with folks that took down USA Gymnastics/Nasser to expose the systematic issues in Varsity/Cheerleading.
  20. Once again, I understand trying not to bring a narcissist the attention they desire. I pointed out previously that, if you read the tea leaves of his blogs and social media, he is looking to become A Voice in the activity. In today's culture, it is not uncommon for perpetrators to parlay their perceived victimhood into a career of an "anti-woke" or "anti cancel culture" icon. And the negative attention could serve to feed that sense of false persecution. I wish this attention wasn't necessary but DCI has to do this better and have proven that they are strictly reactive. Without these vocal uprisings, they fail to act. It is a catch 22.
