  2. The same DCW that posted this skeevy old tour diary in October 2021? Sure.
  3. Additionally regards to percussion staff: One new battery staff member was being called out on Twitter for recently losing high school teaching job(s) for allegedly "sexually harassing minors." Overnight, his name disappeared from the SoA staff page. I'm not naming names as this is completely 2nd hand info. Wanting to avoid confusion. But if you're an average twitter user, you can find it.
  4. We as a people are demanding a level of accountability that did not previously exist. The information gap has closed. The world has gotten smaller and less perpetrators are able to hide under our noses. I'm an optimist on this. Society is not getting worse. These things have always been happening and we're actually getting better as a society at handling it. Hopefully that continues. Let's continue to shine the light.
  5. Thanks for doing this. And especially for including the master spreadsheet! Add Blue Stars to Broken Arrow for a full top 7 on July 19th. A pivotal shootout for a Tuesday night.
  6. Two peas in the pod. Organizations that pay reactionary lip service to change every time they come under fire. Only to see the hits keep on coming. If either one of them was proactive and taking real action for change out of real safety concerns rather than PR, they'd be out of the investigative cross hairs. Maybe they deserve each other.
  7. Seems like the punishment boils down to "this time we really mean it. Or else." Hopefully SoA Board of Directors leadership is willing to make tangible changes beyond DCI's non-punishment.
  8. Interesting to publicly claim open communications with the victim in spite of her stating the exact opposite. Basically calling her a liar. That ain't the way.
  9. Why wouldn't their probation be public information? Transparency is critical to accountability. Secret probations are garbage. Worthless.
  10. An incredibly overlooked element in this statement: ========== If you had a positive experience with a particular organization or the activity and someone did not, it does not negate your positive experience. Focus your energy on making sure everyone can have a great experience like you did instead of contributing to a culture that silences survivors. ===========
  11. FWIW, Tricia Novolny's team member at USA Today (one of her partners in the Varsity cheer investigations) is former Indianapolis Star investigative reporter Marisa Kwiatkowsk. Marisa was one of the key Nassar reporters.
  12. Before your time here, but this was a good time around here.
  13. FWIW - Some corps utilize the same set/scenic designers that do this work on Broadway/opera and national touring shows. Those same corps also utilize fabricators and engineers for construction from this same industry. Those corps also have prop-focused operations staff that are responsible for safety. inspection, handling and maintenance of said props. They treat their tour as responsible as any professional touring entertainment organization would. The key word here is *some*. Adopting some rules and guidelines in this area across the activity is a good idea.
  14. Kinda thought this thread was going to be crashing at 3 or 4 pages. Guess I'm pessimistic dog as well. Turns out it would take double of that number. Can we keep it open? Time will tell. One thing I appreciate about MAASIN is their transparency. Warts and all. It's going to take some more marching arts organizations to fail to respond a few times before the activity realizes that MAASIN aren't going away.
  15. https://www.facebook.com/180000990709/posts/10166004602025710/ We are saddened to hear of the recent loss of Bluecoats Hall of Fame member Carl Gannon. Carl served as head percussion instructor from 1975 - 1983, as staff coordinator from 1978 - 1983, and as assistant director from 1980 - 1982. Carl's family and friends are in our thoughts 🍁💙 -Bluecoats

  17. 93 star video has staff feedback. A little bit after they switch to full ensemble.
