  1. well.. because of it being my last summer with my family before i shipped out.. i actually opted out joining corps right out of high school.. i had planned to audition for SCV back in 2001.... but yeah... biggest regret was i never had to chance to or did. well... my buddy's trying to get me to join a senior corps now... but ehhh... the fun and excitement of DCI?? oh well... enjoy life as much as you can.
  2. :blah: hmmmm.... each corps needs their individuality and that's what makes competition.... experimenting new things and see if it works out... sure.. but hopefully we can all learn from this that maybe going a bit over the top with how the design of the '07 Cadets show was.. maybe isn't too great of an idea. but hey... props for trying something a little different.
  3. and that particular part was changed during semis. a good thing i would have to say that they did.
  4. people, in addition to booing.. was yelling out and for me at the least, made it clear it was directed at Hoppy. booing continued and yelling was done well after the corps had left the field. really... if you weren't there.. then you have no room to speak of the incident.
  5. for a sec i thought it was Alcohol...... :mmm: lol... j/k
  6. at semis they changed one of the trumpter's line to talking about how he enjoyed music alot vice the usual feeling left out during high school script. i would say another attempt to prevent further screaming of comments from the audience... and that worked for the most part
  7. ahh... wait.. *brain fart*.. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" yeah.. i think they did.
  8. well yeah... i guess the only thing that really got to me was that nowhere did i see Martha Graham getting any credit for their use of that entire statement. but just also how they used it and how they worked it into the show... i dunno..
  9. my goodness.. that brought a tear to my eye share the love!!!!
  10. yeah.. oops.. did forgot to mention that i knew where it came from... edited my post for that... but overall the aura or vibe i got from the show was like an afterschool saturday special the show was visually appealing and the corp has wonderful talent and skill.. the show itself i couldn't feel though.
  11. well. the only real phrase that i found to be highly subjective and slightly offensive to me at the very least.. was the thing about being "an athlete of God"... now i already know that it was a phrase that came from an essay back in the 1950's.. but really... the statement just made the Cadets sound really arrogant, along with other various phrases... even the little "excellent! excellent!" tidbit i found to be annoying. ohh.. and did the author of most of the comments used get any credit? i saw nothing in the program mentioning it. *edit* for small addition
  12. ohhhhh and that part.. at the end when they were in pairs... one guy was just kneeling down tying his shoe!!! LOL.. and then his partner stopped playing for a second when they were supposed to be leaning... looked down at him.. had a "wtf is he doing" moment.. and went back to playing!
  13. ohh that would be a really big change. overall best entertainment value would've easily gone to Crown, SCV and Bluecoats.. their shows were just so fun to watch. big congrats to Crowd to receive the Disney award. well deserved!
  14. ohh forgot to add.. i know many people had missed it because they left right after the awards.. but during the BD victory runthru the drumline in the backfield during their small break were all conducting and just making fun of the drum major..... i dunno.. but it was one of those.. "ahh f* it lets have fun" moments. it brought me to tears. ^_^
  15. oh i remember that!! that was funnnyyyyy.. hmm... though not really nice, like the others said.. some of the heckling comments towards the Cadet's narration was pretty funny... Hoppy or whoever probably changed the narration right after quarters because that first night.. during that one part where the guy was talking about being left out in high school... people were yelling out. "DON'T CRY EMO KID!!" but yeah.. they changed that line.... so no more yelling out that phrase during semis or finals... oh well..
  16. towards the front where I was sitting... that night, more of the people that were booing made it perfectly clear that it was directed towards Hopkins as they were screaming out his name. i do feel bad for the kids that they had to endure what they did because of someone else's mistakes.. the director.. the design team.. it wasn't their fault.. but all-in-all, those guys have talent.. and that was clearly shown. however, i do strongly believe that the overkill of narration, on due part of the design team.. was what cost them their win at finals it's a bit sad for the crowd's reactions... but at this point i hope they pick up their things and work harder next year, learn from their mistakes, and come back with a show they can really win with. congrats to everyone. everyone did an awesome job and it was the best birthday i've had for a very long time.
  17. i just remember at least 8 standing ovations for the Kingsmen alone, so... lol.. yea. ^_^
  18. i believe they overdid the narration. i believe that made their show look like a tv commercial. i believe that despite the opinionated annoyances, they still have a crazy horn line.
  19. ahhh.. capes.... that was so cool.. ^_^ can't wait to see them in pasadena!
  20. i would say that seeing them at DCI West, they had a great audience pleasing performance visually and musically. technical wise, they need to clean things up and hopefully will work hard to move up and get ready for quarters. i couldn't stop looking at the flashy crash cymbal people... lol ^_^
  21. very good review! pretty much how i felt throughout the night.. it was the first DCI show that I've been to for a very long time... it's kinda great to get back into the corps scene. though i was a little annoyed by the narration... i had heard The Cadets was doing well in standings, but after seeing their show last night.. i just really have mixed feelings.
  22. hey Ron! it's Trung i called you back then while you were in Texas at the DCI event for tix for the 3 days. sorry i haven't called or replied back lately.. i'm still trying to scrounge up the money to purchase the tix. been going through some major financial issues the last two weeks and my budget has basically gone to hell.... yay.. what a week it's been.. :( anyway.. hopefully you haven't been waiting too long. i didn't mean for any of this to really take so long. hmm.. i'm not sure if i can make it quite yet.. so if anyone else was interested in the seats you were selling.. you can take them off reserve until i figure out my situation better
