I feel really bad at throwing that crown guy into this :P JUST for everyones info, I have alot of respect for him and it does show that larger guys can be in upper tier corps :D so yea hahah

I understand where everyone is coming from, but I don't remember any large people making it past first cut, but Ive moved on to another corp that i'm really happy at now, I still would like to march "them" but I'm not like terribly upset, I'm just fine :D I know that no one on here knows me but I'm really not that out of shape, yes I'm large but i think its jsut a genetic thing I am planning on going back....I'm just not sure how soon....but I'm working on losing weight through out this winterguard season and marching with "this" corp over the summer Yes I have seen larger guys on some of the top-tier corps but I think they might have been there since the corp started building (Like Crown and that big black guy, he's been there forever and I'm sure they wouldn't have just been like "oh well we're starting to get good....you're cut....even though youve marched here since when? 2004?)(I'm just using him as an example and not trying to be derogatory in any way) So you see what I'm talking about? I think the larger guys, if there still on the guard, have been in the guard there for quite a while or they were AMAZING at there audition or something....or just a suck up... ;P..... But I see where people are coming from about it being a visual distraction.....but isnt this sport about Youth Education? It seems like its starting to slip away from that mentality......but still gotta love it :D

Just another tid-bit I'll add: When i got my comment sheets back they all said "Great Weapon technique, very strong" "Great Performance quality, head always up" "Knows the choreography well" then I had one that said "Nice dance but just a little bit flowier(sp?)" SO when I got those comment sheets I was like sweeeeeeeeeeet I did do as well as I thought....then I got called into the bottom group and I was like....wtf Me and 2 other guys there....who were both large as well....were cut that weekend

Oh yea just to get this said...I have gone to another corp and I'm happy here, but Id still like to be on "their" guard :P but I'm still marching this summer :D oh and I'm not like EXTREMELY fat, yes I'm large but I'm not like....rolls everywhere hahaah I'm just wide from hip to hip...i'm actually kinda skinny from front to back....its just side to side I'm large :P I'm in good shape too, like I run and stuff but its just like.....i have big bones? i guess? like I'm not unhealthy... Like I wear an XL shirt and 40w pants....is that to large for a top-tier corp? (I keep editing cuz this is the first I've read all day and I keep seeing responses)

So I auditioned for my dream corp back in Nov.(Not going to say who), I felt like I was one of the stronger auditionees, I projected, I had the work down pact after knowing it for 2-3 days, I felt pretty good about my audition(even though I did trip on my flag that was on the ground in my audition ;P ) but I came back and my instructor had auditioned for the same corp back a few years ago and they said that once he worked on his figure he could come back. I have a feeling thats the same thing I got....I felt I was very good but unfortunely my body type wouldnt meet their "requirements". It was a World Class corp so do most of them want to look "uniform" on the field so they cut the larger people so they all look the same? If so, is this fair? I mean theres no way of proving it but since I'm of the larger nature is this fair to me that I cant follow my dream?

It also showed him conducting a marching band....is there such a thing as middle school marching band doing a field show?

I would be excited about seeing Surf somewhere high in Semi's :D

I WOULD LOVE FOR SURF TO BE IN FINALS! My favorite prediction so far....but not keeping my hopes up :P

Ok so when I turn 18 I want to get a tatoo. I'm thinking something on my left wrist so when I toss my rifle its not upside down, its rightside up! hahahaha SO here's what I want to know: -Who thinks this is stupid?(I really won't get offended :D) -If you dont think its a stupid idea, what should I get?

I think this is a great idea :D I think alot of people would actually watch....and I would just assume the corps would do there previous seasons show. I mean these common folk only see pretty shapes in the drill and alot of colors going around in the colorguard...they won't know if its dirty or just a form of art ;P

How come there aren't any drum corps(to my knowing) in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade? Just wondering, I'm sitting here watching it right now and there's all these HS Marching band and College Marching bands and wondering why there's no amazing drum corps? Have any drum corps ever been in it?

I second this :D I'm from Southern Virginia and I'm traveling 5 hours this weekend for Crown's Guard but hey hopefully it won't be a waste of gas ;P But I agree. Some corps should start holding auditions in states that don't have drum corps cuz I'm sure they would find ALOT of talent

I play Tuba and I'm in guard(Crown '09's guard hopefully :D) but I LOVE DAVID HOLSINGER. I would love to see Abrams Pursuit or Havendance done by a world guard
