My best wishes for you, as you enjoy retirement. (You have to stay with the "Guess Who Crew"!)

The most intelligent commentary I have heard regarding the "electronics" issue. -
I predict it will take me 9 hours instead of the normal 10 hours, to drive to Rochester this Thursday. I also predict I will sleep well, when I arrive.

This is an Ancient Tartan kilt, what is referred to as "the whole nine yards". Nine yards of tartan to produce the kilt. Good choice if you are looking to outfit a reenactment or a movie production. Bad choice if you are looking to outfit a drumcorps. (Just my 2 cents). -

Coming back from the edge (DCA version)
hairbear replied to JimF-LowBari's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
I remember a conversation I had with Fred Mowbry, in the early 90's at DCA finals in Allentown. We were talking about corps such as Bridgemen and Kilties coming to DCA as Senior corps. (yeah.... all age....) What a great thing that would be. Bridgemen are back (as an Alumni Corps) and Kilties are in DCA, along with all the aforementioned corps from all over the country and two international corps, to boot! I wonder what Fred would have to say about that? I believe he would be very happy. -
The corps in BLACK will be rehearsing and cleaning their shows.

In these days of "cookie cutter" uniforms, it's good to know that the Bridgemen still wear their yellow coats, the Cabs are eternally cool and the Kilties will never wear black bibs. -
The area that we here call the tri state, hasn't had a good track record since the 60's and early 70's, when we had no less than 6 junior corps, each within a 45 minute drive of eachother. Pride of Cincinnati did alot to redeem that record in the early 80's. There is a large talent pool in cincinnati/northern Kentucky. Cincinnati Tradition (DCA CLASS A) is working hard to recruit some of that talent, for the 2012 DCA season.

Minnesota Brass @ Racine

Did you see any other corps at the show? -
I simply will not advise Cincinnati Tradition to travel farther than their yearly budget allows. Why would I expect an East coast corps to do so? Don't spend money you don't have, plain and simple.

BIG DCA Weekend This week.
hairbear replied to 2B or not 2B's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Cincy is working on that, Gary. -
Cincinnati Tradition scored a 62.3 tonight, in Dayton. The next "read" will be in Racine, this Saturday night.

DCA Open Class Predictions 6
hairbear replied to oldephard's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Cabs have somebody in place now,(from what I have heard) with a proven record of producing great drumlines. I don't see them falling out of the top 5, this season. I see them moving UP, this season. -
August 6th should be a good week-end
hairbear replied to Florida Sun's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Nope! Cincinnati Tradition is going to Racine for the Kilties home show on August 6th. Don't forget: breakfast, Saturday morning at the hotel in Rochester! See ya there! -
** Food For Thought - DCA Open Class
hairbear replied to drumlaw80's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Anyone of us here that marched in the 70's and 80's could probably list from memory, the corps no longer competing. Of the five DCA corps I marched with, only ONE is still competing. -
We (Steel City) had a big corps in 1990. But...... not a "clean" corps. Intonation was a problem, all season. If you remember, we tied that year at the Rochester show and went off the field togeather, as we did in 1989 at finals! (Steel and Cru).... fun times!

Guess Who?
hairbear replied to NanciD's topic in DCA All-Age Corps and Alumni Corps Historical Forum
West Virginia "State quarter" : Two dimes and a nickel. Kentucky state quarter: 10 pennies, one dime and one nickel, taped togeather. Southwestern Ohio state quarter: a roll of pennies! (adjusted for inflation) leaving now, before I get a kewpie! -

The truely sad thing about this clue: I actually KNOW the song being mentioned, as I was born in 1952. -
Hormel uh... Girls? weren't they a "corporate" sponsored corps? (too lazy this morning, to go look through my history of drumcorps book)

There is nothing quite as lonely as a "guess who" badge at a DCI show in Ohio. LOL! -
