  1. Cadets 2007 the first hit in Symphonic Movement... 'nuff said.
  2. Alright, I'll shoot. I was contacted to be on staff and constantly nagged by Chris Nagy. I cant say that I ever truly believed this would work out, but in talking to other staff members online, we all didnt like the direction it was headed. I spent two hours talking to him on the phone, listening to the ravings of a 12 year old 'corps director' want to be. I told him I hadnt planned on teaching in 2011, since I would be planning marching with The Cadets...instead of understanding and dropping the issue, he told me he still wanted to talk to me about teaching and being on staff, and that he was going to use me anyways. He then continued to bash the "BOA" Cadets, while telling me all about a show involving an on field labyrinth, voice overs, and more props then have ever been used before. Among other show ideas was one that was DIRECTLY copied from a BOA band, called "universal languages'. The entire phone call raised red flag after red flag. He told me cavaliers would be dropping from world class to come march here, and that he was gaining the attention and recruitment of many world corps vets who were interested in marching. When asked what technique I was most comfortable teaching, I replied "straight leg", to which he told me I would have to learn their new way of marching. needless to say this "new" style was EXACTLY described as the Blue Knights. He even referred to the corps as a better and DARKER blue knights...which...if you could even imagine a darker blue knights. Went on to ramblings of how he would only be 100,000 in debt by the end of the season, and that he could pay it off by selling instruments, that he expected 1600 people to audition, that we would have 5 to 8 audition sites, that we would be giving 'scholarships' to help kids march, that he wanted to take open this year, and medal in world the next. All very unrealistic claims. I knew this was a disaster, and was reluctantly kept on staff, on their sorry excuse for a website, and made to make tedious email accounts and answer phone calls (which I never again answered). I actually should have known this was ABSOLUTE failure when I noticed his facebook status said he " LOVE WORKING FOR VECTOR"....which I not only dealt with in the past, but now campaign against at college. Terrible. There were various other elements that were smelly as well...like the BLAND show design and how the staff wanted to have an intervention to talk him out of his musical....well ALL of his choices. If you want to know more about this debacle, just let me know....none of the staff should be blamed though... since then, all of my friends that were kept on bored have made unanswered requests to respectably cut us loose from this horrid organization. oh yeah, and there is no trace of chris nagy on the internet any more....classy.
  3. I fully support Jeremy Hunt. He is an awesome guy and a great instructor. He will be a great addition to Spirit.
  4. Crown, Cadets, Boston, Phantom I was very surprised by the sound Boston put out, I would have to say they were atleast the second loudest overall.
  5. Cadets 2007, minus the voice. Talk about making statements.
  6. This show was the closest thing to art drum corps will ever be. I could not believe this corps and their brass sound. I will even go as far to say, that I thought this show was better than 1987 Cadets...and that takes a lot.
  7. Very well deserved Boston! So happy to have been able to watch you live a few times...the rip into Bacchanale was worth it every time!
  8. with a 99.05....the Blue Devils.... congrats BD on 13. other notables....Phantom dropped to 9th behind Blue Stars....2 - 7 remain the same.
  9. My brain tells me Blue Devils...but my heart tells me Crown...Crown will lose it because of their visual execution and technique. It is too sloppy....you cant march difficult drill or at faster tempos to mask your bad technique...it only gets you so far.
  10. I suppose in your mind that is what it may have appeared as. However there was hardly a moment where the concept was not supported by something going on on the field. It was obviously effective, and there is no denying that.
  11. One of my least favorite corps shirts is last years Cadet show shirt....badly designed. :/
  12. Technically, as of now, The Cadets 2005 corps is the best of the decade. While they achieved the same score as the Cavaliers in 02, they managed to do something that no corps has ever done before. They managed to win every caption and sub caption. As far as show design, I would also say the Cadets had the best show design for the decade out of these choices...they sold that show brilliantly, and it was very strong conceptually. Not to mention their clean, clean, clean visual. Everything about this corps was strong.
  13. I actually can see this happening. They have completely won me over.

  20. The entire 2008 season for the Cadets...between the story changes as well as the music changes, this show went from tolerable/enjoyable in some regard, to awful and nonsensical. The only good change that I liked was when they changed the ending to where the girl ran into the older lady's arms. The change from Elegy to App = the worst. The musical changes in Nitro? Choppy and abrupt. The voice over added during the pit break in vesuvias? NONSENSICAL WITH THE MUSIC TO COME. Taking out the ending, not fond of. The corps did what they could with a constantly changing show.
  21. 1 Carolina Crown 94.100 2 The Cavaliers 94.050 3 Holy Name Cadets 94.000 4 Boston Crusaders 88.600 5 Crossmen 81.150 6 Jersey Surf 77.2
  22. It was pretty clear to me. Holy Name Cadets...not only is this a throwback show in the sense of musical selections, but in the traditional morals of the corps. Instead of still pounding their "new direction" into our skulls, they have gone back to their old programming. Classic drum corps again...fast, loud, and in your face. Classic. So THIS is my vote! Besides, the entire show is drenched in throw back moments, such as the HNC, G, CB, 75 section etc.
  23. Trumpets - Blue Devils 1997/2004 Mellos - Cadets 1999 Bari/Euphs - Cadets 2007 Contras - Crown 2008 Guard - Cadets 2005 Drum Line - Cadets 2003 Pit - Blue Devils 2007
