  1. We usually do our laundry in the evening after our rehearsals. Seems to make good sense to do it that way.
  2. +1 Though I think the Cadets will be up there too
  3. Up - Madison. I see (with my all-seeing eye) them getting as high as 6th. Down - Phantom. Not saying that staff changes always constitute a drop in placement, but I think they'll struggle a little in this first year with the changes they made. That being said, I hope I'm wrong! I voted for two new finalists. Why not?
  4. I had to miss a few days of move ins due to graduation in 2008. It wasn't a huge deal, I just made sure that everyone in the Administration team and all of my staff members knew when I would leave and when I would return. Though I was lucky in that I got to leave school about 3 weeks early because my teachers and principal allowed me to take my finals early and finish my courses before everyone else. That way I didn't have to miss 3 weeks of learning drill.
  5. The Bluecoats tour dvd (2009 i think) had a 3D option with some glasses. I tried it out, but for some reason it didn't work at all... I was sorely disappointed.
  6. From what I've heard it's going to be pretty cool. The ideas behind it could be very fun to see on the field.
  7. I'd add more fans. The more the merrier.
  8. My reply to the OP has already been made. I know who I'd like to be the next new champion, but I won't be saying that it's going to happen for sure. I've been posting on here for a few years - made my predictions - and that's probably not going to change. I like the banter that goes back and forth on these forums. It's fun for me, and I feel like I do a fairly good job (most of the time ) of being decent with my posts. Of course, I may have some seriously rose tinted glasses when viewing my posts, but I don't seem to upset too many people.
  9. I just want to say that nothing is for certain... for anyone. If a corps truly deserves to win based on their performance and design, then I trust that they will win. If that corps is one that hasn't won WC DCI before, then cool. I like new things, and that would be great for whoever pulls it off... but I won't go around saying that Corps B or Corps C WILL win finals. It simply can't be known for certain beforehand.
  10. We liked it so much last year that we're doing it again. ...Forever.
  11. I think they like to wait a long time before they announce. I could be very wrong, but from what I can remember, they are usually one of the last corps to announce their show.
  12. There are people from UNT that weren't with Phantom last year that are with Vanguard this year. One Cadet in the snare line I believe, and their timpanist is from UNT, he played with SCV last year though, and just got lucky with Paul moving over. Lots of Phantom vets, and a few UNT people. My point is not everyone that followed Paul is from Phantom.
  13. ...very interesting. I didn't know that kind of thing existed.
  14. For some reason, I like this title... Maybe it's because I'm a tuba player that loves the low register.
  15. This is a cool idea, and it reminds me of how DCI has opened the doors for the drum majors to get to know each other and network with each other by bringing all of us in for the seminar we had in January up in Indy. I'm really excited to get to see all of them in their natural habitat with their corps on tour. It's gonna be great! Drum majors aside, most of my friends that I know in different corps are just friends from school. We have all had classes together at some point, and most of us were/are in marching band together. It's a lot of fun to run into them and see how their summers are going. This is especially true when one of my good friends is new to the activity and I get to watch them as they change from the experience of a DCI summer. Very, very cool.
  16. I think its a cool idea, so people around the country can see the beginning (for these 8 corps) and the end at theaters. I like it.
  17. North Texas. The Drumline is already set to win High Percussion.
  18. We had about 5 or 6 members on their fifth year with the Bluecoats. A few were on their 6th or 7th year in DCI. One guy on his 8th year in DCI (Glassmen and Bluecoats experience). There were many 3rd and 4th year vets, and quite a good bunch of 2nd year members. A lot of our rookies last year had previous corps experience, too. So yes, there was a lot of experience in that group.
  19. Of the world class corps, it would seem obvious that the highest placing corps have the greater average age among their performers. Which corps would you say have the highest average age? and do you think it plays a large factor in how their season turned out? My example will be with the Bluecoats: Last year the corps had an average age of 20.4 (as calculated by corps data) at the beginning of the season. Last year we placed the highest ever in our history. Of course there are other factors than age, but would maturity level make that much of a difference? That kind of age is what I had always expected corps like the Cavaliers, Cadets and Blue Devils to have, but it can't always be the case that they are the oldest corps in the activity. Thoughts?
  20. I voted for the Cadets in the first poll. They were the easiest choice from what I know by far. From Little Jeffrey to Angels and Demons... There seems to be a pretty huge difference in design between the two. For the second poll I voted for Madison. It's gonna be just a "part dos" to last year, which is A-OK by me!
  21. Oh, interesting tidbit of information: The 2011 Bluecoats center snares (two of them) have a combined total of 15 years drum corps experience. Plus multiple years with their respective indoor percussion ensembles.
