Funniest rumors from retreat
mcjordansc replied to michaeldgough's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Your mother is correct if you believed Bob Barker died falling from a roof while taking down Christmas lights in the summer. -
Anyone else remember when Drum Corps World was the go to source to see scores of other corps around the country?

Star?

That was some news considering Nixon was never impeached.

I was there when...........
mcjordansc replied to Rocketman's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I was there the night the Blue Stars drank 1013 Blatz Creme Ales in four hours to set the Rustic Inn record. I was there at 8:30 AM the next day when the horn line was running laps. Yuck. -
Seven snares and three tenors returning is great. If the ratios are like that through the rest of the corps, I think the Blue Stars are in line for another great season.

Colts in Presidential Inauguration Parade?
mcjordansc replied to madscout96's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Well, let's look into this. The average January high temp in Dubuque is 25 degrees. In DC, it is 42 degrees. Though there can be wide ranges and you never know what will happen, I would say, yes, the weather in Iowa, in January, most days, is worse than DC. -
Colts in Presidential Inauguration Parade?
mcjordansc replied to madscout96's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Iowa really launched the Obama campaign last January, so it would be fitting to have an Iowa group marching in the parade. I would hate to have to participate in any outside parade rehersals in Iowa in January. -

Phantom Regiment guard rumor
mcjordansc replied to GSNewell's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Well, Greg Newell did start the thread, so it should be expected that if anyone has a problem with the wording of his message would post their concerns here. I am sure Mr. Newell has been reading all of the responses. -
Phantom Regiment guard rumor
mcjordansc replied to GSNewell's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
No offense, but if there is a large group of posters on here who believe it reflects negatively on Phantom, then it does. -
Phantom Regiment guard rumor
mcjordansc replied to GSNewell's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
In the professional world, this is not how it is done. The statement by the original poster is petty and reflects poorly on the Phantom Regiment. -
Phantom Regiment guard rumor
mcjordansc replied to GSNewell's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
In my opinion, it is extremely unprofessional to come on a public forum and announce that a member of a corps staff has been "let go". It is fine to sa that PR and AS have agreed to part ways, but to use the "let go" phrase certainly indicates a firing. Very classless move. -
Welcome Back to World Class Finals
mcjordansc replied to sdstar's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Nice video. -
There have always been some crazy things done during retreat by a few corps. In 1979, some members of North Star were shooting off bottle rockets. You would even hear some insults from time to time. Some of the stories related here of what went on this year are beyond good fun and indicate a problem DCI needs to deal with.
-
It sounds like there might be a few members of the Bluecoats who need not be invited to march next year.
-
Which corps were not screwing around during retreat? Cadets, for sure. I am assuming SCV and Blue Stars based on past experience. The Youtube video I saw indicates Phantom maintained composure. Others?

Blue Stars make DCI History

Hey, the old school guy must have been channeling a keyboardist from 1979. He is out of step. -
Blue Stars make DCI History
mcjordansc replied to corpssaavy's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Well, to be fair, one judge had them eighth in drums, the other twelfth. If judge one scored tham as judge two did, we would not be having this discussion. I will say the Blue Stars have made all the right off season changes the last few years and I am sure they will do what is best for the corps, -
If true, that is very sad. If anyone from the Bluecoats management reads this, they should investigate and make sure itnever happens again. There is fun and there is stupid, this falls into the second category.

How many world class corps in 09?
mcjordansc replied to sydstranda's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
So we could see 23 corps in World Class next year. That would be great. I would still like to see the top five Open Class corps get to perform in QF's.
