I just got home after drinks with friends. The broadcast IMHO was great! The HD looked way better than past theater broadcasts and yes the audio was not the best but the direction was way better. The descision to stay long on some high-cam shots would normally be a no-no in the real world of network sports, but in this case--the effect was appropiate to the visual grace and flow of drum corps. Good job DCI (and Tom B.)

I can't use my handicap placard that I got for my aunt who had back problems three years ago but I continue to use it anyway like a lot of people do? That's it! I'm done!

Right back at you. I think the video people should focus on getting us quality images in HD and good camera angles. (Sorry Box 5, I can see that you’re now using trip-pods but it still looks bando). I'm glad the Big Loud and Live is in HD, I can't wait!

I'm sorry but the red/green glasses are so 40 years ago. It was abandon because after a while folks started getting headaches. It also does not work for 25% of the population due to their inverted dominant-eye gene. Kudos to Box 5 for trying, but it makes you wonder why they did it in the first place. Are they trying to dethrone Tom Blair? (i hope not)

I hope so. They got the videos up pretty quick last year. Can't wait!

I hope they get it up on Fan Network soon. Last year they had it up the same night!

No bueno Paint. The director did not know Drum Corps shows. It's what you get when DCI chooses to limit its talent pool and not assign qualified people to do a better job. This whole year has been a disaster so far. Box 5 themselves admitted they have no idea how the great content was up so fast last year. I know budgets are tight but we are fans of an activity that celebrates perfection and timeless moments. My two cents? Set the standard high and make sure your video and network guys are worth the price.

FN reset just now and the audio bit rate just went down to 48 kbps from 98 kbps. That blows!

Just like the movie "Drum Line" this will be another film we can all hate. When is DCI, Tom Blair, Rawtv, Box5 going to do one of these and make it better?

Good comment. I agree, I would rather have somthing than nothing. I don't think it's cost issue, in fact I think most corps can tap into a better talent pool if they just try. Is it that hard for them to follow some guidlines? like compare your work with others and consider the basics of media communitcation. there are tons of recources out there. Here is my last comment and I'm going to leave it alone for awhile. I have no problem with the way some videos look because it's there first try but what gets me the most is when they don't improve and it looks the same over and over. Drum Corps is about perfection. It's not like we don't know how to clean and make it better. enough said.

Actually I forgot to add Madison Scouts, they put up some pretty decent stuff. So does Cavies. I said in earlier postings that to differentiate corps from looking too much like marching bands, the videos need to DO the same and try not to look so "Bando". I will admit that I may be placing too high of a standard to some of these guys who do their best to bring us media. However, when they do a flashy production ID bumper at the beginning of their videos then they better be ready to be scrutinized. If it's a member-cam and is shaky all the time, then no problem! But if it's a 3 to 4 minute news feature then at least do it right. ...... I forgot to add that your right about Blue Knights Memorial Day Camp video. It was pretty amateur and they could post more content.

First - Crown was one of my favorite shows last year. Second - Their videos are very much made by an intern who is getting college credit for the work>>> that's what I read before. Because of this they get caught in a "look what I can do" mentality and think they are doing a great job by posting a whole bunch of videos. The opening credits make me laugh and cringe every time. I'm only pointing out what everyone has mentioned before Third - When you have videos like Blue View, SCV Behind the Star, and Blue Knights setting the bar then one would think who ever is in charge of the videos would try to do a better job. Case in point>>> Bluecoats last Live Minute video was awful and made me sick because someone got crazy with the camera zoom. It makes me sad for these great corps because it looks like their video guys are just goofing around and not trying. I still choose to hold them up to a higher standard...! Lastly>>> I do love Fan Network!

Yes. Let's be clear here. I never said I'm not getting my money's worth. I love the fact that we can watch videos online and DCI was smart for creating Fan network. My biggest gripe is that some corps deserve better videos. at least somthing we can all enjoy.

I'm sorry but Crown deserves so much more. The videos they put out really do suck and I bet most will agree. I'm not out to bruise anyone or complain. I am happy with my subscription. I only think Corps and fans should demand more!
