  1. for me,,, Bari,, 3 valve dynasty G bugle.. nice.. mellophone would be my second choice... i played two valve G bugle,, can't remember who made it,,
  2. you don't find sops as young as that in today's top 12 corps do you??/ referring to the young sop in the first cadet photo
  3. btween 3 corps,,, i have done the tour... bari twice..
  4. unfortunately, this is all too common among anyone, business or other, that have a website. As a retired designer,, this drove me nuts when my clients refused to update, or even forward updates to me so i could do it. But, it's very good advice,, if the corp/group is spending the money on hosting and possibly design, they should take advantage and utilize the resource to its best advantage.
  5. i understand it's balanced, not back heavy,,, and 32 pounds..
  6. Make sure we know which pocket the nitro spray is in.
  7. Totally agree,,, i hated parades as a junior,, knew we had to do them for the $$,, and yes,, we did pick up members every year from doing local parades... double bonus,, Now,, i do parades because they're fun.. like you said,, we play to the crowd,, and the crowd responds.. it's a blast !!!! During those many 'stops' we always seem to come across,, we have a big ol contra player that breaks ranks and will take his horn to a group of kids and talk about it... show them how to hold,, let them try to pick it up, and then play the A/W bear theme.. the kids,, and the parents love it!!! You can't BUY that type of publicity,, and you're getting PAID for it... Our corps ranges from HS age to over 80 (bass drummer no less) 10 years young last year,,, and in high demand,, which in turn means,,, more $$ I wouldnt' have it any other way now...
  8. i always enjoyed the st john's girls... i lived only 40 minutes away hehe.. help teach the newbies one winter,, got to know a couple of em quite well.. and we're still friends today... in fact,, i march with 4 of them in the United Alumni corps. classy corps... classy history,,,
  9. vets are allowed to A-holes,,, they've earned it... at least when i marched we did... lol
  10. i highly doubt this is a legit email... notice the email... gmail address... and if you go to abc site,, and look up wifeswap,,you'll not find that name listed as a producer,, and the emails are rfdusa.com. Also,, the applications is done via a downloadabel pdf file, and then emailed or snail mailed to families@rfdusa dot com.. Sorry,, I think someone is pulling your leg..
  11. I don't believe they had a winter guard this year..
  12. Back in black could be a reference to the finances, of which they were in the red for a few years,,, especially when Rick started there...
  13. now that is nice... all small 'horns',,, can you imagine one that size doing the contra,, (oopps) tuba role?? http://www.gearwire.com/media/playing-yama...spacebrewer.mov
  14. apparently you need quicktime to play the camp vids.. i downloaded irfranview and the the codec pack for it.. and they play fine,,, just an inconvience..
  15. http://www.yamaha.com/Artists/ArtistDetail...DARTIST,00.html
  16. i got it.. the on tour section is pretty good,,, some interviews with members,, scenes of practices and yeah,, the running hornline lot of features,,, i was disappointed that half the disc must be used in your computer... camp videos for example it was nice that they have pre-season cd included,, with 2005 -2007 full shows (audio only),, overall not bad,,, but not the production quality of the 08... enjoy it...
  17. no actually I didn't see that part... i just posted the link to the drum thing as a joke,,, lol guess the jokes on me !!!
  18. what's funny is that there are people actually believing that BD will be using these drum like things because of rolands sponsorship,,, failing to realize that roland makes a very good synth...
  19. actually,, i under the age of 100,, and i march drum corps to do parades,,, parades are a great way for a corps to make money,, the more parades you do,, the more in demand you become,, the more money you can ask for and get.. My junior corps did alot of parades,, the parades funded our competition schedule,, purchased two valve sops when they came out, purchased new uniforms,,, also,, local parades brought in local members,, which helped sustain the corps.. Alumni corps are notorious for doing parades,, and loving them,,,
