  1. i dunno how well it would be for the fans, but i think that it would probably benefit the corps more. along with their tape, give them a vid of exactly what theyre seeing. probably only could be done at major events tho. then why not for the brass and guard? to actually answer your question, it would be sweet to have something like that.
  2. lets start a list of which corps have their info for 2009 posted. Madison Scouts have posted their 2009 interest form, and audition information.
  3. well those possible underage chinese gymnasts are up there with the biggest travesty. i wonder what would have happend if cavaliers had won, or crown. not cadets because that just seemed like it was hastily put together at the last minute, sorry cadets fans. would there be such hatred, or would they be saying oh i see how cavaliers won they had such ######## visual and drill they deserved it, or for crown: finally someone other than the 3that have owned the championships for the past decade. (oh wait shouldnt that be said about phantom too? ) edit: HAHAHA wow so this thread is going to be closed quickly now, someone just called michael boo a butt!!! thats a travesty right there... im surprised it got this far in the first place.
  4. yea thanks. but its not really about me, i use a 3B right now and can get to high C most of the time. but i am more than content with playing 2nd and 3rd parts where ever i go. and for all the other things that you need to play trumpet, i can do those fairly well. but i could go for a summer of corps to help my chops. it is about what the guys that play incredibly high do to get there, or if their are just talented in the ways of super high notes.
  5. yea i know i know, this should probably be in the brass forum, but i thought i would get a better chance having a response here than there, plus i hear more world class screamers than in open class, loophole maybe? i am a trumpet player and i obviously want to audition next year (check the sig), but i just cant scream like some others. i know thats not all trumpets about, but hey thats not really the point. what do the screamers use in terms of mouth pieces? is it a super shallow mouthpiece designed for screaming, or is it your typical 3C mouthpiece and they just are just amazing at hitting those notes? alright and to completely tie it into world class, what are your favorite screaming moments, of all time, this year, or your own? and i know this is bound to pop up eventually, so i'll go ahead and say it now: not ATB at finals this year.
  6. yea what the hell, why is madison so low? they deserve higher!!! 13points should do it.
  7. hilarious. so since im lazy i wont take the time to do this, and i really would be unsure if my results would be accurate. but someone should take an average of all the rankings and repost. again im lazy, and not the best with numbers, so who knows if what i gave would be good. no dont flame me because of this either, if no one does it, i would understand. it would just be cool to see
  8. ok so heres the set up in my room: laptop ps3(blu-ray player) 19" tube tv with rabbit ears laptop (not HD) living room: 32" tube tv cable with DVR (at least theres the dvr) ps3, its movable our family bought the 32" right before the HD boom so the option for HD was there just too expensive to be practical at the time. but hd dci would be sweet. but still not as good as live.
  9. madison was pretty bad this year for hearing things from outside the stadium. and it wasnt really the show off cadences, it was more of the simple warm ups that were just 8ths? a constant repetitive banging coming from the lot over powering the smaller open/all age corps was kind of annoying. i feel bad for the corps that could hear the straight beat and confuse it with the tempo theyre supposed to play. but when the lines started playing interesting beats it was nice to hear sometimes during the time between corps.
  10. hopefully no corps will. wouldnt a woodwind instrumet with the same quality as the brass be a lot more expensive therefore harder to find funding for? and well in high school no body broke their trumpet baritone, anything just by setting it on the ground, so that would be a nightmare too.
  11. 1)Cavaliers-new brass sound + same marching = endless posibilities 2)Phantom Regiment- judges in offseason will reexamine their past judging habbits of Phantom and will begin to realize that they are now a huge force 2)Cadets- if theres no narration, they might take 2nd outright, but will have a hard time overcoming all the hate from the past few years 4)Blue Devils- going to be full of vets and they are going to be out for blood, but something about their show will hold them back 5)Crown- possibly out of ideas for another huge crowd favorite and that will keep them out of it 6)Bluecoats- an incredibly strong hornline and drumline with mean books will push them to 6th and will be knipping at the big boys all year 7)SCV- with a show that was thought up of before their current staff, it could go anywhere 7th just seems safe 8)Scouts- coming back with hardly any staff changes and most likely a large vet group, they will put on a show that will have babies flying 8)Bluestars- dont want to put this year down, but it took them 2 years before they had this show, not high hopes of putting on another crowd pleaser next year 10)Glassmen- as long as they keep in the niche of good story telling easy to follow and creative they'll have a good year and i give up this is way to hard. in fact im surprised i got this far the only ones i would place money on are my top 5 and if not exactly that, some form of that order, dont see crown or cadets winning. 6-10 was hard, which is why i stopped, its just to hard to place a corps when there are so many that could do anything. its probably going to be like this summer again, not over until final scores are read on finals night. 11 and 12 will be a battle of colts xmen and blue knights. blue knights might also be in the 6-10 race but more along 9-12, depends on what their show is. and please no more numbers shows. and keep the synthesiser out of it, if the sound cant be produced with whats legal already, then maybe it should just stay in the theater
  12. when i was younger say a few years ago when cap reg and southwind (07?) were still "around"(before they didnt tour for whatever reasons), i thought i could see myself being a corps hopper. starting there then working up to say a phantom, cavi's, bd. etc. now that ive actually been to a good amount of shows and seeing different traditions alum have and how dedicated they are to their old corps, have friends and met people that have marched all over, and finally being 2yrs from aging out, ive decided on where i want to audition. and even still i thought wouldnt it be cool to say hey i marched at these 2 prestigious places. but now i only want to help out the corps i make be the best they possibly can and be proud of what i accomplished. the only reason i would ever switch is if i was miserable at a certain corps. and besides when its all over didnt everyone "win" i mean they all grew as people and musicians, have huge extened families all over the country and have people they can now turn to for advice or just someone to talk to.
  13. haha it doesnt even have a DCI listing it has 8 then do you mean in DC?
  14. so what is the most frequently played song in drum corps? and would you consider when crown played zorro their opener to have a malaguenaness to it?
  15. i dont understand how bluecoats did almost the same thing as crown did, have a few years of strong showing and no one really noticed or had as much hype as crown has. does crown really have a "style"?
  16. la forza del destino. playing it now and i could see it, or parts of it arranged for a corps. maybe find other shows about destiny and throw them together im sure something cool could come out of that
  17. if the took amplification out and left it for highschools that would be nice. the idea of a soloist being mic'd isnt to bad in theory, now they wont have to force to play loud and lose whatever finese they had at a quieter volume. but in reality if the soloist just cant produce the sound, they shouldnt be able to do it... ###### i just contradicted my point. im going to bed darn it
  18. anybody know when dci.org updates their site and changes around whose in world and open classes (see below) and then add the new video clip from this year. have the corps that were coming back/moving up been approved yet, if no then when does that take place? 2nd topic finally i guess just talk about/compliment/rip on/tell your thoughts about dci.org personally i miss the drop down bar they used to have that jumped straight to each corps site.
  19. alright i was always thinking it would be interesting to see a corps do old radio shows music. i think crown would be good for it. cant really think of songs but i do know there are some good songs that could be arranged for a corps to do.
  20. but this is DCI... maybe they can change the rule to where you can just record your show and have it play too
