Isn't there a major show tonight in Allentown?
josephmb replied to madalumni's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
seems like in general, from our much appreciated tweeters, there are more over the top compliments for surf and crossmen then for glassmen and BK. -

no because the meaning behind the tattoo is more symbolic to me personally then the actual tattoo. and to just have a tattoo of a corps cuz you're a fan is just lame and majorly bando cuz you don't have the meaning behind it aside from oh i really like watching that corps.

It could help, but not necessarily, experience is experience in some eyes, SCVC might use the same techniques used in SCV but Academy might strive to have a higher eye for precision.

drum corps are not bands
josephmb replied to CrownFan4ever's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
There is so much more to what drum corps is that people who have never marched trying to say it's the same as marching will never understand, that's the difference between drum corps and marching band, the behind the scenes family you have with each other. Not to mention the attention to detail and work ethic. Yeah you can say that Bb horns, take the bugle out of the title but whatever, it's still the same activity, things might've slightly changed, harder music faster drill, whatever it's still the same activity. and i do take offense to someone saying i'm in a marching band, I will correct them and say it's drum corps. -
What Did You Learn Musically During the Season?
josephmb replied to JimF-LowBari's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
i learned to more picky with my personal playing and holding myself to higher standards i've learned to smooth out my articulation more keep a consistant quality tone in upper and lower ranges and as always as every year get better and better and breathing technique and ensemble tuning and listening skills -
you should read the last 10 pages or so on the scouts thread and look at what type of corps they really are off the field before you choose to audition there, plus every corps has a uniqueness upon themselves and you should go to whichever corps appeals to you. do some research on each corps and what they stand for, ask people on FB too, that's alot faster and will get more member feedback. good luck
