  1. I agree. Two things that stand out most: The awkward musical transition into Also Sprach And The lack of velocity in the drill. It's nice to hear the reprise, and sure you got the "crown" but both seem to be there, just "to be there". The crown is held way too long, and the drill is too slow for being the last 1:30 of the show. Last years music and drill pulled the crowd to their feet, as of right now not feeling that. Still got time for some revision and perfecting.
  2. Great job Green Machine :) Very proud of the men this year.
  3. Great job Cavies!!!! Nice jump in score. Impressed to see they beat BAC in brass.
  4. Gonna take a wild guess and assume its not Madison or Cavies :)
  5. I agree, thanks trh! Any word on a new Cavies ending?
  6. I don't think anyone has a problem with questioning scores, that's part of dci. That's why we're fans. The problem is a few of the Madison honks making statements like "Madison is light years ahead of the Cavaliers." Or insinuating that the Cavies are catching up to Madison because of some G7 conspiracy. Ive watched both shows several times. Madison has the emotional edge and agree Cavies are uncharacteristicly dirty. But I also tend to agree with the posters who say Cavies show has higher difficulty, more room for increased GE and maxing out the sheets.
  7. Am I missing something????? Can someone please explain to me how A Lo scoring madison .3 behind phantom and .2 behind bloo is some huge judging conspiracy? What is going on with some of these dcp posters lately? I'm not sure why its happening, but it is and its not becoming. Right now it appears Bloo, Madison, Cavies and BK will be fighting for the 6/7/8/9 spots with Boston right on their tails. Indy should be fun :) As I see it right now in groupings: Crown BD Cadets SCV Phantom Bluecoats Madison Cavies BK Boston Spirit Blue Stars Troopers Crossmen
  8. I call sour grapes on everything you post... I understand being a honk for your favorite, but everytime I read your posts it seems your putting down other corps for the sake of making Madison look better. While I enjoy Madison's show this year it is not "light years" ahead of Cavies.
  9. BD. SCV Cadets Cavies top 4 drumlines imo
  10. Cadets 2005 Cadets 2007 Blue Devils 2008 Blue Devils 2010
  11. I completely agree with this and of course respect this statistic. BUT....would you rather be introduced as "1 of only three corps to score above 90 the last however many years." Or " fifteen time dci champion blue devils" or " seven time world champion cavaliers." Statistics can be manipulated however you want. I'm gonna use the Cavies for example, because I'm most familiar with.... "The Cavaliers have medaled all but two years since 1999, including 5 dci titles." Now that's all well and good, but that statistic isn't going to help them rise in placements or make people like and remember a show.
  12. I think if something like this were to happen, then it would be opening pandoras box for more rule changes down the line regarding similar issues. What about housing? Cavies are all together 24/7 and in dorms the month of pre tour. Other corps must find their own housing, buy their own food. What about practice sites? Corps like BD, Cadets and Cavies who host larger shows get to practice on performance fields, while others do not. And I'm referring to the big boy stadiums. What about Indy? BD stays at a hotel and practices indoors at the Colts facility. That's gotta be a huge advantage right? What about sponsors/endorsements? I can guarantee you that there's a handful of corps that reap the rewards more then most. What about membership costs? Should there be a cap on fees? The corps that charge more, must have an advantage, right? Point being, if you want to level the playing field its going to take a lot more then changing move in dates.
  13. Amazingly enough, I agree with everyones posts :) Bloos situation reminds me how on reality tv shows like Top Chef/Project Runway the judges tell the contestants "you are safe", then go on to lecture the middle of the pack that they need to see more from them, they need to "take risks" even if you sometimes fail. At least get noticed. I prefered Bloo 2007-2009, I thought the shows were unique and gave me some of my favorite moments of those seasons. 2010 they gave everyone a run for their money with the new show direction and 2011 gave us "Creep" which I absolutely love. 2012/2013, I have no feelings towards positive or negative. To me the show design is just blah. The kids still perform at great levels and the brass is still distinctly Bloo, but I feel they have lost their identity. Wearing a Cavies shirt the other day, a high school kid stopped me. Told me that he didn't like 15 minutes of Fame, but the girls in his high school band learned the ending dance from the show. Then continued to talk about all the Cavies gimmicks from 2008 (when he started following dci) till present secret society. Said his favorite corps is Phantom, feels they are the romantic corps of dci loves the murders, lol. Loves to hate BD,lol. And loved cadets 2011/2012, while following by listing the music n gimmicks he liked from those shows. BTW...he loves crowns brass and mentioned rach star and triple crown. My point being is that all these shows, had something that stands out, something that's memorable. Speaking of stands, those are the coats gimmick this year and they're not really standing out from the pack, lol. Say what you will about each of the following, live it or hate it, but each are getting our attention. -Cavies Cloaks and blindfolded pyramid -BD poles -Phantoms trees -Cadets rolling circus boxes -Crowns narration -madisons singing -blue knights blue ball, lol
  14. New guard work last minute of show...so much better. From the looks of the new practice flags looks like they may be using different colored double sided flags, good effect.
