  1. blue devils had around 43, and spirit around 18.
  2. same. went there last year as well [my first countdown]. we have a small group going. [edit to shorten quote.]
  3. the Colorguard Historical Society?
  4. lets not forget that, if the OP is only utilizing fan network, the archives start with 2006 and only go back to 2001, and if you want A and Open, only back to 2004. at least, thats the case at the present moment. -also of note, all WGI prelims are up from last weekend!
  5. just a few off the top of my head: independence, io, 2006. [cathedrals.] pride, iw, 2004. [sideshow.] fantasia, iw, 2004. [..i cant remember the name, but its amazing.] rancho bernardo, sw, 2004. [the movie airplane.] james logan, sw, 2002. [boxing.]
  6. i dont know if i should be commenting, since i have.. many dci years left. however, i definitely would like to say that you should still try to march this year. you may not spend your last summer with the corps of your choice, but there is another place out there willing to take you, as long as you are willing to make the best out of it.
  7. i loved the fan network as well! it is a tad expensive, but i believe it was worth it, especially not marching this season. i would recommend it to others by live package, do you mean buying the three days of guard WGI live? if so, i would not recommend this. get the full fan network subscription. both cost $60, but the latter has live and more. [edited to include quote.]
  8. I'll be watching the webcast when not in class. i believe it is definitely time for Avon to get their GOLD medal.. which i believe should have been theirs last year. edited my first sentence.
  9. This happened at a certain other top corps this year. She was cut at the first camp. Since she had marched there before, it was my opinion that she should not have been cut right off the bat. Even with the staff changes, I think finishing a number of seasons with the corps earned her at least the chance to improve by April to meet the new staff requirements. However, I do not know the girl well. edit: spelling.
  10. 3.5 years during high school [4 fall, 3 winter] 1 year independent [instead of my last year in high school guard] ...very short list so far! i plan to add drum corps/teaching this summer/fall, though.
  11. http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...&hl=banners
  12. how did the guard in SCV 08 change during the VANGUARD! moment? i think i figured it out, but it had me wondering for a while.
  13. i LOVED marian catholic's white flags. and they went well with the show- they were like angel wings. on another note, i quite enjoyed the regional. it was interesting to see how the GE judges differed in their preferences. for example, one preferred shows with tricks, such as south shore and eklipse [who missed finals by .2], and the other preferred the slow, pretty shows, such as capella and many others this year. [edit for spelling.]
  14. oh no no no. wild horses should have been done after carolina crown 2007. it may be a good show, but people groan when it comes on. im also a fan of the more upbeat soundtracks. some guards are amazing, but just cant hold my attention the entire time. and, 2009 is the year of white uniforms and/or long shirts/short dresses with leggings underneath.
  15. i think there is a good way and a bad way to look different. to stand out and be recognized as a group is one thing, but to look like you just grabbed whatever colored material you could to make guard uniforms and flags is not pretty.
  16. correct. three different entities. same root name. definitely confusing at first. so, to answer the question, the hs graduation requirement does make sense. MCDBC will be open class, with a short schedule, for its inaugural year. [no performances announced yet, except a probable exhibition at mtsu.] just testing the waters a bit.
  17. Capella, last year's IA bronze medalist: KOI. "Set to excerpts of soundtracks by Alexandre Desplat and James Newton Howard"
  18. i hadnt even considered them being mailed to the director, even though that does seem the most logical option. i should be getting my patch soon. thank you!
  19. i doubt this will get any results, but i was wondering if there was a way to get a finalist patch somehow? when in dayton this past april, i was in finals for the first time and every time i was in the tent, the people i talked to told me there was a problem with the patches. [i remember something about not having any in stock? i thought that was odd, but i kept checking.] im sure there is no way to get a patch- it must be hard to verify when ordering if you were in a guard that in fact made finals- but i figured i could give it a shot. thank you in advance- even if my thoughts are confirmed with a "no". i still have my memories, and my dvd.
  20. going to miss not going to dayton too much not to get rePLAY this year. i do wish it was more like fan network on dci, though. it would be nice to see older shows. however, there is no dci on demand, and i love the custom dvds.
  21. in no particular order 1. Phantom Regiment- i am a sucker for well-portrayed theme/character shows. but mainly, I AM SPARTACUS to the end. seeing allentown on fan network, i decided i MUST go to bloomington. so, i grabbed three friends and roadtripped 300 miles. 2. Carolina Crown's weapon line. i was completely blown away during prelims in atlanta. 3. Bluecoats. i LOVED the boxer park and blow. also enjoyed how the guard portrayed two other musical moments. 4. being present when scores were announced. it really WAS that loud when the winner was announced, no question. 5. Cadets ending drill. im not for or against them-however, seeing it live for the first time at the Mufreesboro show, i couldnt look away. saw six drum corps shows in 2008 [starting in 06, it was one a year] cant wait to march 2009!
  22. saw Throw It Down at the bluecoats november camp. i enjoyed it on all levels- bluecoats fan, interested in the activity, never marched drum corps. i will receive mine by monday. :]
  23. this reminds me of WGI on demand. you get to pick what show you want, if available at the time [2006 is "coming soon"], with multi-cam view. most world class shows offer floor and high cam. 40 bucks total. it is relatively new, but a great idea. dci could borrow this idea from wgi, offering different camera angles, and possible bonus footage [judges commentary, etc.] that are not on the standard dvd sets. edit; recently ordered my dvd-- arriving monday!
  24. thats what i put quotations around the word. best only in the sense of placements. like i said, i liked fighting to be at the murfreesboro show instead of automatically in-- but, not complaining!
  25. living awfully close to this show, im glad that theres the chance to see all 21. however, i really enjoyed the top 8. the fighting and hoping your corps made your home show. plus just the fact that you got to see the "best" corps (after san antonio).
