  1. DCI has a committee that has been exploring a new tour model for a couple of years. Don't know when it is to be brought to the membership for approval. Could be implemented in 2020? Allentown will definitely be impacted.
  2. I thought I read some where that the Blue Devils as defending champs have the option to go on last at prelims. I could be wrong on that point.
  3. On Thursday Flomarching has everyone except top 15. Friday everyone is on Flo Marching top 25.
  4. Saturday corps are moving in some of the same sites that Friday corps used.
  5. With random draw in groups of three Boston could still be the sixth corps in prelims regardless what they score in Allentown. The real question at Allentown is there any corps that move up to the next group? No. Groups of three appear to be set. If Spirit draws 15th for prelims they will need a supper performance on Thursday and Friday to make finals. It can be done.
  6. There are several schools in the Exton area that have housed corps in the past. A little over an hour from JB. Downingtown West, Downingtown East, Bishop Shanahan, And there is The School at Church Farm, Exton PA, a private high school that has a large activity building/gym/showers. Even though a boys school they have coed activities there. They have several practice fields. One mile from interstate. They have their old gym available for staff and volunteer sleeping and separate area for drivers. I always thought that this would be a perfect place for a corps to stay. I lived in area for ten years. Expect to pay.
  7. They have found housing for twenty three corps. DCI has the option to put the final two corps in hotels/motels but Allentown is completely booked this weekend. Unfortunately these two corps will have to stay a long distance away and bus in. DCI is looking for best option.
  8. Allentown is a huge moneymaker for DCI since they get use of stadium dirt cheap. Overall costs determine where shows all held. Housing is only one component.
  9. They have made it through intermission. Shame if Blue Stars and Phantom get rained on and no score.
  10. Sight lines in the stadium are not good for a drum corps show. I was sitting on the fifty, club level section 237, row 3. If you sat upright normal in your seat you could only see the hash mark out portion of field. Many people complained about having to lean forward in order to watch the corps. If you were unfortunate to have a large person sitting in front of you like me you saw less of the field. If I wanted to see the front ensembles or drum major podiums I had to look at the overhead video screens. Club level experience was great (they keep out non club ticket holders) however they did run out of food before the last intermission. I didn't have any issues with sound. With the souvie's set up outside most people didn't go by when they left hurting sales post show. I rode MARTA to and from the event. Overall I would rate the DCI Southeastern Championship a ***** event.
  11. This year few upsets will happen, top three are set, top six are set, top nine are set, top twelve are set, top fifteen are set. Allentown will have no impact on prelim seeding.
  12. Chris and Dann have employment contracts. The terms of those contracts may limit the ability of anyone to make changes. Board of Directors have a fiduciary responsibility to protect the assets of the organization. If anyone thinks that change will come quickly are sadly mistaken.
  13. Yes, you have access to the club-level amenities. I am in 237C. Seats flow right into the club. Hopefully they will have ushers to keep non club ticket holders out but DCI fans are a persistent group.
  14. With two 45 minute intermissions seems like DCI is separating the corps into three separate groups/shows. Going to be next to impossible to move up out of your group.
  15. Both of sponsors for tonight's shows (Stanbury and Flo Marching) are for profit corporations and they can write off the costs as either a business expense or donation to a non profit. That is not the case with most sponsored DCI events. Look at all of the good publicity they would get if they refunded ticket costs.
  16. Drum Corps Cook Trucks are not insurable for full replacement value. All you can insure is the value of the equipment inside the trailer. Miss Amana was over 40 years old so to replace SCV is looking at a loss of probably close to $200,000.
  17. Crossmen have a very enjoyable show. I have seen them live several times including last Sunday night. This time of year to many people focus on caption scores and not the big picture. Crossmen are competitive with the corps scoring around the them. It is going to take a few shows for the judges to get a good look at the corps once everyone has joined up. Crossmen have positive momentum going into the rest of the season and I am sure they will be a fan favorite. GO BONES:
  18. Phantom has the edge on Sunday night. They are in the last block. A full hour and 50 minutes after Mandarins perform and an hour after Blue Stars. Judges judge the corps in groups and there is little chance from anyone in the Spirit - Blue Stars group can move up however the spreads will be interesting to see.
  19. These days most fans will not buy advance tickets. Day of show ticket sales is huge. Colts may also have rain insurance. Still a huge disappoint if rained out everyone wanted to see this group of corps go head to head tonight.
  20. DCI has a set policy on standstills that was implemented after rain in Muncie a couple of years ago. No Pit, No Guard, No Uniforms Just horn lines and battery
  21. This would be the first rain out of year. To bad for Colts this show is a major fund raiser for them. Doesn't look good right. No place to even a standstill unless it stops raining enough to hold one on field.
  22. Goal of the Mandarins this week is to make top twelve seed for San Antonio. Crossmen join the battle tonight and Mandarins have the dreaded last corps before intermission spot. Other interesting note is that Mandarins have Saturday off with everyone else in Dekalb. Fairly long drive from Dekalb to St Louis and this show has a history of running late so corps will want to leave once they have performed in order to have maximum rest and rehearsal time in St Louis. Tonight may be the last night of partial panels.
  23. Correct: Gail Royer graduated from Morningside College
  24. DCI History Bluffs. Name the DCI Hall of Fame Member who graduated from Morningside College with a degree in Elementary Education.
