  1. I have heard it live 2 times now - I have felt the same way both times - taken away. I didn't analyze the piece either time - I just let it do what it was intended to do. Not sure of it's ranking but it does live up to its promuise to move you.
  2. I believe tonight's order will have some significance for awhile - till MN when CC joins the hunt
  3. I remember when the military allowed GPS navigation to be more accurate. At that time, the DOD said that in certain areas - military importance - the GPS system would remain vague. I believe there are a lot of underground facilities in the Midwest and GPS is still muddy.
  4. The irony is they both have gotten better and may still finish in the bottom half tonight - everybody just gets cleaner.
  5. They don't HAVE to, but I'm guessing they will.
  6. INT starts out slow to the hot dog stand followed by a long sustained wait followed by a break neck speed drill to the bathrooms and back to seat; still sloppy in spots and not everyone remembers their sitting spot.
  7. I'm catching up on this thread; Is this a big enough spread to get Bluecoats, Blue Devils, Cadets, Crown, Madison, and Santa Clara Vanguard in between these scores (I put them alaphabetically not personal preference)
  8. Any chance expecting that in July too :-)
  9. Does anyone else feel uncomfortable about this? Mitch
  10. I hear some of the wurst brats are at this show
  11. This one goes WAY Back - when corps made no pretensions of liking one another. Blessed Sac was using local school buses for the VFW (maybe American legion) Nationals in Miami - 1963. Someone from either Garfield or St. Lucy's put one of Sacs Contras under the back tire of the bus and the bus backed over it. It was the very first conversion of a G bugle to B flat (very B flat!!!).
  12. I got my Blu-rays today - but I can't get to the menu to see the corps. Anyone else having this problem? The Pop-Up menu won't let me get past the intro Mitch
  13. I certainly have no insight into what G-7 will ultimately look like, but I don't believe Hopkins will have the only vote about Woodwinds. To date, he has been outvoted almost unanimously regarding that issue. Why wouldn't these same G-7 Corps Directors continue to vote against that?
  14. I understand that there are secrete negotiations going on with Pop Warner so that Little League baseball players can use their baseball gloves while being on a Pop Warner football team. Seems there's a need to get more kids involved in football.
  15. I saw BDs live for the 1st time in A-town. I have to say I did not care for their show, BUT, it has been a long time since I have seen a corps that does everything as well as they do it. The show does not belong to the marching members; that is a staff decision. The quality is a direct reflection of attitude and commitment on the marching members. They are awesome at doing that show.
  16. Wow, this a tough group - thanks for the interaction - I think i will go watch a tree warp Mitch
  17. Do you think that a corps (say BD) that is winning by big numbers, has less inclination to make changes and clean what they have compared to corps trying to catch them (The rest)? Mitch
  18. Instead of commenting on anyone show between BD and Cadets, I am waiting to see the trend over the next 4 shows. I think that will have more indications than any single show. Mitch
  19. It's not literal - it's like saying they are the top dog in drum corps (they are not dogs, but that kind of meaning)
  20. I believe that most of the judges viewed the corps even with the smaller panel. There were a lot of comments about waiting for the full panel and watch the changes in the individual areas being judged. I didn't think that was going to happen because the judges "knew" just about where each corps was going to place no matter if they were on the field or in the stands. I haven't done the home work, but I think that may be true. Crown's drum line got their biggest hit with the holes but once they eliminated the holes, they are or will be back where "They Belong". It's Blue Devils turn at being the Alpha Male corps - it will change at some point, and someone else will get their chance. I don't think it can be defined why the corps get what they get - it's just a system that is what it is. You either get to acceptance or tear your hair out show after show and write what we write in these forums. I don't always like certain corps shows - and I have passed that banner around to a few over my years marching and watching drum corps, but I am oh so envious of every kid out there. Mitch
