  1. There is nothing that I would like to see more than SCV win this year, Trust me. This is my favorite show of theirs since 1992!
  2. Ending alone will not put you in medal standing.
  3. This is the first show I have REALLY loved from SCV in 20 years. I am excited to see this product in August. Great music, intriguing drill, great percussion.
  4. 1. 1995 Madison Scouts 2. 2007 Carolina Crown 3. 1991 Phantom Regiment 4. 1988 Blue Devils 5. 1984, 2011, or 2012 Spirit of Atlanta 6. 2011 Cadets (also 1984, 1987, 1989) 7. 1992 Crossmen 8. 2011 Crown 9. 1991 or 1992 SCV. This year is also good. 10. 1990, 1991 Star of Indiana
  5. Thank you Michael Boo. Why are people throwing the Cadets out, as if they have absolutely no chance of winning this year. Hello, people. Look at what they did last year. This thread is somewhat pointless right now.
  6. I am amazed at how many people are simply writing off the Cadets for the title this year. This is a corps that can and does sneak up from behind and win. I mean...does anyone think they are going to lay down and give up because they are a little behind? Look at last year, folks!!!! They were behind a lot and ended up winning. This is by NO means a two corps race. Crown has the full package this year to win, but they do not have the experience of staff or members to handle the pressure of winning when it comes. I would like Crown to win, but am under no illusions that they will win simply because they have the best Brass line in DCI right now. A good brass line does not a DCI champion make.
  7. I would not suggest putting this in such certain terms. I have seen the Cadets do amazing moves up the ranks to win. Not to mention the fact that BD is extremely clean! Crown definitely has the package to win, but they have a lot of work to do to make it happen. Brass alone does not a DCI world champion make.
  8. I don't know how to explain it, but there is something about SCV's drill that intrigues me. Very angular, but beautiful to me.
  9. I believe Crossmen have a good show with the potential of being in finals, but they will have to perform the product better than they did last night if they are going to be successful when finals comes along. They were really dull on Saturday.
  10. If this activity says anything historically to us all, it is that you can NEVER, EVER count the Cadets out for a win in August!!!! I want to like this show a lot, and I know the staff can make this happen and I know the members can perform it that way. Keep working it. With much respect, A Crown Alumi
  11. I actually have spoken about some issues with Crown, but I have gotten tired of arguing, especially with a couple of them that seem to seek out any perceived harsh comment I make.
  12. So, you are saying that someone cannot respect someone they do not like? Interesting. No defense on getting the title wrong though.
  13. I do think Phantom's show is elegant and well performed this year. I, however, like their arrangement and performance of Messa Dorma better from their 1991 show.
  14. I said this last night, but I think it bears repeating. The only corps that should be disappointed in their scores, show, and season are the Cavies. I have NEVER liked the Cavies, EVER. But, their staff this year should be ashamed of the show they have put together this year. The members should demand a refund. I really feel sorry for the returning vets of this corps and for the rookies who wanted to mark with a corps that has been a serious title contender every year for many years. Shame on the staff for this terrible show!!!
  15. I am significantly confused why so many people talk about the Madison Scouts like they used to win DCI titles every year. They are typically a 5th to 7th place corps. The last title they won was 24 years ago, and it is unlikely they will win one again in the next decade. People really need to tone down the Scouts propoganda and think rationally. Their show is entertaining but dirty. It does not have the technical merit of a top five contender this year. Madison is an good corps this year, but please tone down the rhetoric!
  16. This may be true for some, but not the Cavies. This is a terrible show, plain and simple. Whichever staff came up with it, should not go back to this corps. They have too much tradition, talent, and skill to suffer through this type of crap on the field. This is not a member issue. It is a staff issue. The members should request a refund. People do not go to the Cavies to perform this kind of stuff. It is uninspired and dull. The staff should be ashamed.
  17. No one, and I mean, no one can be Crown in Brass this year!!!!!!! I HATE the corps dancing part of the show. It just looks stupid. Wife says it looks like synchronized swimming on grass. Crown is really starting to sell this show entertainment wise. They will be extremely difficult to beat by finals. Where has this level of drill writing been for Crown for the last couple of years, Mr. Leon May?
  18. Really like the Blue Knights drill design and guard uniform blend with the rest of the corps. Hornline needs to keep working. This is a hard show to pull off. It isn't as obviously entertaining as Madison.
  19. Thought the Crossmen were kinda flat in their performance. Spirit is kicking things into really high gear. Bluestars brass is getting better, but the drill still needs a lot of work.
  20. 1st place will be close between BD, Cadets, and Crown. I seriously doubt Crown will lose brass. There is simply no comparison between what they are doing and how they sound versus BD and Cadets. Fourth is likely to go to Phantom. SVC and Bluecoats will fill in the 5th/6th spots. Madison looks good for 7th. Eighth seems to battle between Cavies and Boston, although I would LOVE Spirit in this spot. In 10th, I see Spirit. In 11th, Crossmen. In 12th, Bluestars or Blue Knights.
  21. If people want to continue to talk about the competitive aspects, it is a VERY good idea to have the DCI activity around so that people can talk about the competitive aspects. The activity is flat out in trouble. This is not a doomsday statement. DCI is shrinking rather than expanding. People, it seems (including DCI itself), need to start getting their head out of the sand and stop the atrophy in the activity. Please!
  22. I'm sorry to say this, but people are burying their head in the sand if they do not see that DCI is not only unable to sustain itself at this point in history, but is losing ground based upon the amount of corps that have folded. The activity is shrinking for whatever reason(s) and the top people need to start discussing ways to advertise outside the context of the activity and acts in ways that can build starter corps again. DCI is a business as much as it is anything else and it needs to start getting its fiscal house in order so that it can build the activity rather than see it continue to shrink in decline.
  23. People who take their religion seriously should get the option, whether the non-religious believe it to be a time-waster or not. Corps do not have the right to take the option away from their members. Commiting to a corps is not a commitment to leave behind religion.
  24. It is possible. It will depend upon which corps gets cleaner faster. It has to be difficult to be a returning member of this corps this year. I am saddened for the members and fell empathy for them. Their staff seems to be letting them down big time. People must also remember morale is a big issue. There is an emotional aspect that could cause the Cavies to lose their fighting spirit. It's happened before and it wouldn't be surprising here considering that this corps has not been in this position in many years. If I was a returning member, it would be hard for me to respect what this staff is doing at this point in the season. If the morale doesn't increase, then neither will the scores.
